Math thread!

Math and I....... we don't get along. As hard as I try I can not grasp what it is telling me. I feel incredibly dumb that I can't get past simple Algebra. Its really bad when my son has to show me what I did wrong. Lord save me from a brain aneurysm, but I think my head is going to explode!!!

Argh. So we're doing a unit test on Trigonometry, and boy do I need help. Let me use this question as an example:

I know that, according to the pythagorean theorem, that B=77 degrees (or something like that, my calculator just died).

If I want to solve all the line dimensions, how would I go about doing all that? Are there any simple formulas to solve for X? SohCahToa, as helpful as it is, doesn't help when (using Tan) A=x. any ideas?

Thanks!

B = 67 degrees (180-90-23)

I've had this in dutch so if there are false translations, bear with me ;)

sinus rule:

a/sin A = b/sin B = c/sin C

a= (b . sin A) / sin B = (7,6 . sin (23)) / sin (67) = 3,2

same for c:

c= (b . sin C) / sin B = (7,6 . sin (90)) / sin (67) = 8,2

This is what I remember from my math days. I hope it helped.
If you got a question, ask away ;)

Bumping this because ive got one week untill my A level exams!!!!

Yep i got same as you Hush now
Math overload for the day been doing it since 9 this morning thats virtually 11 hours now!
I apologize and thanks for pointing it out :)
I think i need a break!

If a was 11.7 , it would be longer then b, which it obviously isn't.
How'd you get to those numbers? :confused:

(also, if c was 14, it would almost be double of b, which it isn't either)
