CSI Level Two
Reading the transcript of the fight, I definitely think it was a professional disagreement. The reason it got so heated was because of who Mac and Stella are personally. Their relationship is a complex one, and far more than boss/employee. Most of the time, Mac and Stella are much more like partners on an equal level than boss/employee, and IMO, it's often easy to forget that Stella is Mac's employee as well as his partner. She is below him (get your minds out of the gutter, you know what I mean). But most of the time they are like equals. I think their very close relationship makes disagreements over cases more serious and intense, like in this ep and Officer Blue. If Gil and Catherine or Horatio and Calleigh were to disagree over how a case should be investigated, it wouldn't be this intense, because they lack the closeness that Mac and Stella have.
I do have the feeling that this mid season finale will involve something bad for Stella. We have seen 2 vendettas on the show involving team members - Aidan and Pratt, and Mac and Dobson. Aidan's vendetta, while justified because the guy was guilty as sin, ended up in her getting fired, and then when she went after him on her own, she died. Mac's vendetta against Dobson, again somewhat justified because again he was guilty, ended up in Dobson dying, Mac risking his career and going on trial, and the girl's father losing the chance to learn where his daughter's body is buried.
Vendettas are not good, and they always end up hurting the good guys too. I think Stella is going to learn that, which is fine, as long as it's Mac who saves her. It'll have to be Mac- Danny is always the damsel in distress, after all. Maybe Flack will have to go with Mac to save Danny (or Angell, maybe?) But it would be better if it was just Mac and Stella, no other couples, please. It is Smacked time!
Reading the transcript definitely makes it clear that both Mac and Stella make some good points. I like that Mac was trying to show he was still her friend. And again, I do like that he is more the Voice of Reason here, it's an interesting role-change in their relationship.:bolian: Now, all we need is another role-change - we've seen Stella save Mac in Hush, so now we need him to save her. He can do the door-kicking thing he did in this ep. Only this time he'll be calling for STella. And he could be running for her like he did for P. in that ep in s4. And he could give the Greek Man his Marine Death Glare, and Stella could kick him (Greek man) where it hurts, go Rambo on him....:drool:
Sebastian: Marine Mac? Rambo Stella? Aggggggggggggggggh! *jumps into Atlantic and gets eaten by Debbie's pet shark.:lol::lol:
Ella will not be a problem. I really doubt Gary would want to do a romance storyline with a girl who around his own daughter's age and is also called Ella (his daughter is called Ella). ,I think Gary'd be 'Ewww! She's my daughter's age! Ewww!' Well, he'd probably put it better than that. I really don't think EP will go that way. I do hope we get Stella dealing with Ella though, either as Rambo Stella or as Understanding, Motherly Stella (but if she was nice, she'd still make it clear that Ella keep away from her Mac. Doesn't matter if Stella is pissed at Mac, he's hers.:adore: )
I hate being British sometimes and having to wait to see the new eps. Stupid country. :scream: I could watch it online, but prefer watching it on the big tv. It starts here early next year, i.e. January/February. I am looking forward to the good Mac/Hawkes/Flack/Adam/Stella eps, even if there hasn't been much Smacked so far. But maybe 5.11 is the beginning of change. It's a big thing for Mac and Stella, big things are good. And a fight (with Mac and Stella) can only go one way in the end....Make Up Land! Which is also known as Smacked Land.:bolian:
Forgetting about 5.11 for a while, I was doing requests at the library yesterday (calling people up to let them know books and dvds they requested have arrived) and someon had ordered Casino Royale, and it had a pic of the shower scene on the back, made me think of M&S and grin like a fool. Luckily, none of my colleagues were around.
I am going to watch some s1 over Christmas. 'Hush' is on the list, as is 'Officer Blue' and 'Triborough' and 'Rain' and also 'What You See':adore: I love dvd boxsets. Especially s1. S1 is :adore: for Mac/Stella.
