I have this theory that i think Stella might somehow resemble Mac's deceased wife, but i think
Mac doesen't conciously realize that (that's obvious, because he would then feel bad about stella since it would be like working with the ghost of claire...).
Facts that support my theory: firstly, we had Reed to think Stella was Mac's wife (therefore his mother, even though he'd never seen her), and when Reed later asks Mac about Claire, Mac says she had dark curly hair. Stella has curly hair.
OK now this: I was just watching a re-run on AXN of one of the cabbie-killer episodes (the one with Quinn), and when Mac tells Reed off about the cabbie killer he says something like (don't remember tue exact phrase):
"You're just like you're mother Claire, you're stubborn and you're capable of anything to get what you want, and you will not rest until you've made it." ->
NOW TELL ME HOW ISN'T THAT A PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF STELLA HERSELF!

there it is a character that could add to the show (and to Mac's character development and history). At least he's much better of a character than all the she and he-nits.

Yes, there is a similarity there. I know in this pic, Claire's hair doesn't look that curly, but all that means is she decided to wear it straight that day.
And I agree their personalities must be very similar. The quote you mention is from Like Water for Murder, btw. We know Mac likes strong, independent women - and Claire and Stella are strong, independent women. I bet Claire was just like Stella is now in that she would 'call Mac out on his s**t' as Stella does, but support him and be there for him too. I also agree that Mac probably doesn't fully realize Stella resembles Claire. But I think that is part of what draws him to her, and makes it so easy for him to open up to her. Stella is probably different to Claire in some ways, but similar to her too. I bet if we saw a photo of Claire with her hair all curly, she would look even more like Stella. If anyone has a Stella pic for us to compare to Claire's, please post it!
And ITA with you about EP bringing back Reed and forgetting the she and he nits. Reed is a much better way for us to learn about Mac's backstory, and particularly about Claire and his eps have Smacked in them often too.
Lori, I like your theory about Cost of Living. They did a similar sort of thing with D/L last season, for the first half of s4, you would never have guessed they had slept together, or that Danny had been pursuing her since s1. They are being very odd about Mac and Stella's concern for each other though. EP's minds work strangely.
ITA that Mac will be more concerned for Stella than mad at her if/when she gets in big trouble with this Greek man. Same thing happened with Reed in Taxi - Mac was so pissed at him at the beginning (though Reed had been a bit stupid, reporting without confirming his info, but as with Stella and the Greek man, his mistake is understandable) but later, after Reed got kidnapped, Mac was only concerned. Awww, see Reed's quite a bit like Stella (his eagerness to learn about the Cabbie Killer is similar to Stella's need to get the Greek man, Reed 'broke' a rule of journalism in that he didn't confirm the info a source gave him, Stella told Danny she's ready to break some rules) which supports what eyewitness said about Stella and Claire being similar.
Re Stella's real man....I really, really hope some random he nit doesn't pop up out of nowhere, and all of a sudden he is Stella's 'real relationship'.
I liked P., but was annoyed at how she suddenly popped up in bed with Mac out of nowhere. And the same with Gillian - Mac's suddenly all into her after having only just met her?:scream: I wouldn't mind if EP delayed Smacked actually getting together for a while longer if they would stop it with the she and he nits. I know I say mean things about D/L, but at least D/L has more development than the 'relationships' EP keep chucking at Mac and Stella. I know people have one night stands and flings and all, but that's more s1/s2 Danny's style than Mac and Stella's. But the he-nits and she-nits aren't even one night stands or flings! They just appear, flirt, then go away. I'm glad they don't threaten Smacked, but really, EP could have used that time for other storylines and for the cast they already have.:scream: I mean, what was the point of the fireman? That scene (i saw a clip) might as well have been Stella on her own.
But annoying as this^ all is, at least the nits can't hurt Smacked!
