Jon Togo: Wolfe's Sight Will Continue To Deteriorate

CSI Files

Captain
Jonathan Togo (Ryan Wolfe) joked with CBS recently about why his character getting shot in the eye was in some ways disappointing, prop wise.

"I tried to negotiate a deal with the producers and I said, 'alright, if you're gonna put a nail in my eye, then I get to wear an eye patch for the rest of the season,' and they said no," the actor remembered. "So I said, 'fine, the rest of the episode,' and they went, 'no.' I said, 'can I wear one in my trailer?' And they said no. So I never get to wear an eye patch, but I did get actually get shot in the eye with a nail."

Ryan Wolfe's eye did eventually heal, but the character is not out of the woods yet. As in a recent episode the viewers discovered, he's been having problems with his eyesight. "It'll seem like everything's okay, but we learn that his eyesight begins to deteriorate, but I have no idea where that's gonna lead to by the end of the season, only the writers in their supreme wisdom know, and they haven't told me."

Another thing the writers haven't told him is the identity of this elusive mole the Miami lab has. In an extended scene that aired online, Wolfe discovered someone in the lab has been leaking information. "I find out from Erica Sikes, that there's a mole in the lab, who's giving away our secrets and talking behind our backs and that's a bad thing, apparently. So we're gonna find that out, and that's gonna be a story that runs through the end of the season."

Wolfe started out as a good guy, who later went through a shady period, and has now found a nice spot in between. Togo admitted, it's more fun playing a character who isn't loved by everyone. "It's been fun to play. It gives the character an extra dimension, and it's fun to play someone who's not always everyone's most liked person."

He continued, "and he's a replacement, he's replacing a very beloved character on the show. But much like Sammy Hagar when he replaced David Lee Roth, I think Ryan will in some ways improve upon the job, and he'll record his own good albums, and then he'll have a solo career, and he'll retire to Mexico."

Good article. This will really make Jon's acting abilities shine. I'm glad he is going to get the storyline. Maybe if he gets focused on his lack of eyesight, he'll back off flirting with Natalia.

 I found that little interview highly amusing! I really hope that the whole eye set back works out ok in the end, I really like Ryan's character - JT is a great actor.

I just adore that guy's sense of humor. I'm becoming more and more of a fan every year - heck, I thought he rocked in SU:2...
