Internet Insomnia

Hit and Run
Ah ha! This is the first topic I've started.
So it's almost 1 in the morning here in Kelowna and I'm wired! So this thread is dedicated to a couple things.
1. What keeps you up at night?
2. How do you get to sleep if you're having trouble?
3. What do you do if you really can't sleep.

so here are my answers...
1. Everything. I haven't gotten to bed before 2 for the last week. (that can't be healthy) I really don't know why I can't sleep, I just can't. It might have something to do with Randy's snoring (seriously you can hear that guy through walls!) For those of you who don't know (almost all of you) Randy is my roommate, he has a great many habits that annoy me.
2. I count sheep! Seriously, I do. It rarely works.
3. I spend a LOT of time on the computer, and I read and watch CSI re-runs.

So what about you guys? This is where we talk lack of sleep and help keep us internet insomniacs from getting bored.

I think I have insomnia, I have had it forever, but now it doesn't really matter now that I don't have a life :p

I'd have to say my answer for all 3 is watch adult swim

(sorry if I'm not making sense, it's late here, I'm only on cuz I've seen this episode of Inuyasha... :p)

I kinda have insomnia and I wish I could spend it behind my computer but my parents keep kicking my ass so.. anyway

1. What keeps you up at night?
Usually just me. Or the thoughts in my head. Usual stuff.
2. How do you get to sleep if you're having trouble?
I give up trying and if I am lucky I fall asleep anyway. Usually its only for 2 or 3 hours which makes me wish I hadn't slept at all so I would at least feel better.
3. What do you do if you really can't sleep.
Write stories, read a book. Watch tv. TV sucks in the middle of the night though

1. What keeps you up at night?

The fact that I close atmy job and we have so much caffiene and energy drinks that by the time we leave at 12:30am we're bouncing off the walls.

2. How do you get to sleep if you're having trouble?

I stare at the tv or computer screen until my eyes start to close at a rapid rate.

3. What do you do if you really can't sleep.

Sit on the computer until I'm tried or I force myself to sleep bcause I have stuff that I have to do in the morning.

HMMM interesting topic.... :)

What keeps you up at night?
The usual stuff, family, friends, ... something that is 'really' bothering me.. maybe something someone said...or did

How do you get to sleep?
Well, studies have shown that going to the internet and the computer actually STIMULATES your brain instead of shutting it off... so going on line is not going to help make you sleepy.
I usually just lay in bed and relax. I really depends on the time of month :)

What do you do if you really can't sleep?
Sometimes I get up or walk around or just lay in bed quietly and think of something I enjoy.

I don't believe I have insomnia, because if I try I can fall asleep, but I'm more awake at night then during the day.

BUT:

What keeps you up at night?
I get distracted really easily, so anything on the internet, someone phoning, something on TV, something on my mind, hunger etc.

How do you get to sleep?
Lay there and think about random things with my eyes open. It ususally works because I get bored of thinking. Or sometimes I stare at my clock until I fall asleep, which takes a really long time.

What do you do if you can't really sleep?
Watch a movie or go on the computer. Or eat, usually eating and the computer or a movie. Oh, sometimes I watch TV, okay usually it's TV.

1. What keeps you up at night?
I think a lot about my life, when i'm trying to sleep, that's the major reason i can't sleep at night, othere things are too much caffine late at night, or hearing things.

2. How do you get to sleep if you're having trouble?
I trying sticking a pillow over my head, and listing to music, which niether really work tho, i have to wait, till i fall alseep.

3. What do you do if you really can't sleep.
Get on the computer, listen to music, or text somebody to see if there up, or i read a book or play cards.

1. What keeps you up at night?
Since I worked night shift for over 24 years, I still stay up those hours even though I am not working at this time. But when I sleep days, the things that keep me up are cars passing with loud bass amps, dogs barking in the nearby yards, occasional lawn mowers and tree mulchers, telemarketers (even though I am on the national Do Not Call list), and wrong numbers.

2. How do you get to sleep if you're having trouble?
Thinking of Emily Procter, Jaclyn Smith, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross...

3. What do you do if you really can't sleep.
Read books.

Cool theme. :)

Nowadays I really fail in falling asleep. Guess I got a terrible crush on someone. ;)

To fight my desire I listen to my favourite band Seether. Rock can really calm you down, whenever you want to implode.

Did you notice that, too? Are there rock-music-fans, who think similar, too?

1. What keeps you up at night?

If I'm worrying about anything I can't get to sleep; and it's usually really stupid trivial things, like if I've left a text book somewhere or something.

2. How do you get to sleep if you're having trouble?

I find my cat soft toy and hug that until I fall asleep. If I'm still not asleep I will listen to music, then read, then if I'm still not asleep I give up. :D

3. What do you do if you really can't sleep.

I watch "Scrubs" dvds until I fall asleep. If I watched CSI that late at night I would scare myself, and then definitely wouldn't be able to get to sleep!

I know what you mean and have to agree with you 100% about rock music calming you down.

Nice thread for people who don't sleep (like me, for example).

1. What keeps you up at nigh?
Basically, all and nothing. I have insomnia, I consider myself lucky if I can sleep at least 4 hour at night. But I really hate the fact that you keep thinking all you have done during the day, looking for mistakes you can amend or trivia things that you could change.

2. How do you get to sleep if you're having trouble?
I have pills made by herbs to relax, they don't make you sleep, just relaxes you in case you're more nervous than normal. Usually I just lie in my bed with my I-pod and very slow music until i finally sleep.

3. What do you do if you really can't sleep?
I used to rad my philosophy text book, from my last year of high school, until I started to find it interesting. So now basically lie down in my bed.

1. What keeps you up at night?

Well, I’m a night person actually. The night-time is the best time of twenty-four hours, if you ask me :D I usually feel sleepy & apathetic at day, but when night comes I’m feeling alive, wired & ready to go. When I was still in high school, I’ve always done my homework late in the evening or at night, because my mind works best at night, especially at tasks that require creativity or logic solving problems.
Since we do not live in ideal world, and I like/love staying up at night, I live in almost constant lack of sleep (for me to be happy and function properly I need 10 hours of sleep). And it’s only on the weekends that I manage to catch up on sleep.

2. How do you get to sleep if you’re having trouble?

This may sound strange, but I start to fantasize/image. It may be various things: my life, re-writing in my minds-eye some tv show ep I recently saw, thinking up new plot lines for my fics. And as bizarre as it sounds such ‘tv theater’ behind closed eyelids puts me to sleep.

3. What do you do if you really can’t sleep?

It doesn’t happen to me much, but on those rare occasions I get up and write stories/fics, putting some ideas on paper has a soothing effect on me :p
