If CSI:Miami Could Switch Writers...

Which show (non CSI) would you have them switch with? Would the episode be any different?

I'd have the CSI:Miami writers switch with The Simpsons or Supernatural. The show definitely needs some more humour. I think giving the show a fresh pair of eyes would be beneficial for CSI:Miami. I've noticed the one thing nowadays that seems to pull in an audience is smart/funny writing. Maybe they could create an episode that's completely animated.

I was thinking 'As The World Turns' instead of 'Supernatural' but then, CSI:Miami already has those writers eh? :p

What do you guys think? Or would it not really make a difference at all?

Awesome idea for a thread. I guess if I seriously had to consider it, I would have to go w/NCIS - I've said it before, but those writers seem to know how to let the characters and chemistry interact in a fun and playful way, like Miami used to. Personally, I'd just love to get Donn Cortez (author of several CSI:Miami paperbacks) on board, as he really knows the characters and respects the canon from ALL the seasons.

I think I like the writers for Bones and Without A Trace. You can guess they're my other 2 fave shows besides Miami.

Bones has the forensics aspects as well as being witty and funny. And for Without A Trace they're quite good at keeping you guessing as to what'll happen in the end. Things are getting a little predictable on Miami.

Ooh, good question...

I'd like to see the writers of House pay a visit to CSI Miami. They seem to have a really good idea on how to play the humour, the snark and yet still maintain the friendships and teamwork of the Hospital, and keep a good handle on what has already been established with the characters in previous seasons.

For some very decent plots, I would love to see Howard Brenton (writer for 'Spooks' - 'MI5' over in the US) pay a visit because there was rarely a hole in his wonderful scripts... And he could write the slightly wacky too.

:)

Um, you do realise, dogbert, that that was a voice over and not actually what was written in House, yeah?

House is nothing like that vid.

:)

Great question Geni!

I'd like to see the writers from West Wing do something for Miami. Amazing dialogue on that show!

I would love for them to snag the writers from Criminal Minds.
Calleigh's kidnapping looked like a joke compared to the episode in which Reid was abducted by a psychopath, played by James VanderBeek, who to my surprse put on one of the best performances ever as a monster.
The writers managed to build character development, show team effort, how it affected the members of the team, & not for one minute did it take away the focus on invading the monster's mind. It plays out that way in almost every episode, & the team really works as a team, plus there are bits of humor also which is always a good thing as well.:)
