Hawaii Five-0 Books Nick Jonas for Season 4

Life’s about to be a beach for Nick Jonas.

The Jonas Brothers band member will guest-star on an upcoming episode of Hawaii Five-0, CBS announced Tuesday. Jonas will play a computer hacker with questionable motives involved in a case that the Five-0 team is investigating.

His appearance on the CBS drama won’t mark Jonas’ first visit to the small screen. He’s also had brief stints on Smash, Last Man Standing and the short-lived Matthew Perry sitcom, Mr. Sunshine.

Jonas will join a number of previously announced upcoming Five-0 guest stars, including Private Practice‘s Tim Daly and Lost‘s Terry O’Quinn, who will reprise his role as Joe White.

Hawaii Five-0: Melanie Griffith Is Danny's Mom

Danny Williams’ mom is a Working Girl — of sorts, in that she will be played by film vet Melanie Griffith.

CBS announced the Hawaii Five-0 Season 4 casting on Tuesday, via their network Twitter feed. Could Mom be in town to check out her little boy’s new doctor-honey, Gabrielle (played by Autumn Reeser)?

In addition to her long film resume — I’ll single out Body Double, just because — Griffith’s recent TV credits include Raising Hope, Hot in Cleveland and Nip/Tuck.

H50 opens its fourth season on Sept. 27, now airing Fridays at 9/8c (sandwiched between Undercover Boss and Blue Bloods).

PREVIOUSLY ON... | As Kono ran off to China with Adam and Danny reunited with Gabby, McGarrett visited Wo Fat in prison -- having learned that his mother had once, mysteriously, done the same! But just as he arrived, unseen forces came after the enemies, working their way through the cell's steel door...

COMING UP NEXT | Who's knocking on Wo Fat's door? "If they made it that far, they're pretty formidable. And if Wo Fat is scared, that's a big deal," says showrunner Peter M. Lenkov. In short, "The people on the other side are a payoff to a larger story." With regards to Kono's absence (she'll appear in "a bunch of" early episodes but won't rejoin the team until about midseason), Five-0 "will feel fractured, like a three-wheeled car" with a key player MIA. Enter Chi McBride (Human Target) as Lou Grover, a SWAT Captain with whom Steve will at one point reluctantly be partnered. When a member of the security detail for an upcoming Aid Summit is murdered before he can reveal the details of an assassination plot, Five-0 is brought in to investigate the murder and protect the target, a ruthless dictator.

S1/E10, "Heihei" ("Race")
Five-0 is baffled when a highly skilled ring of thieves pulls off the heist of an armored car, killing two security guards but leaving the money behind. Their only lead in the case requires Danny to reluctantly ask his ex-wife for a favor.

While Five-0 investigates the murder of a man on his honeymoon and his wife's abduction, Medical Examiner Dr. Max Bergman recognizes uncanny similarities to a series of unsolved homicides from a year ago.

S1/E12, "Hana 'a'a Makehewa" ("Desperate Measures")
It's Christmas in Hawaii, but instead of celebrating, Five-0 is negotiating a hostage situation when the man who killed McGarrett's father resurfaces. The murderer, Victor Hesse, threatens to detonate an explosive that he's strapped to Chin Ho's chest.
 
Two episodes will air TONIGHT (Thursday, September 19th), starting at 9pm ET/8pm CT.

S1/E13, "Ke Kinohi" ("The Beginning")
When McGarrett's sister is kidnapped and his father's Champ box stolen from his house, Steve and Five-0 discover new clues in his mother's murder, including possible ties to the Japanese Yakuza (mafia).

S1/E14, "He Kane Hewa'ole" ("An Innocent Man")
Five-0 joins the Honolulu Police Department in a high-speed police chase that ends with the driver fatally injured, and a gruesome discovery by the team. The investigation leads to an awkward reunion between Chin Ho and his ex-fiancée (Reiko Aylesworth).

Beginning Today, "Hawaii Five-0" Viewers Can Choose From a Menu of Key Story and Production Elements on CBS.com For a Special Episode to be Broadcast Later This Season

CBS announced today the Fan Built "Five-0" initiative where HAWAII FIVE-0 producers invite viewers to help build an episode of the Friday night crime drama by going to CBS.com to select key story elements to be broadcast later this season.

For the next three weeks, viewers can log onto http://www.cbs.com/H50vote to vote on the following six key story points of an episode: Scene of the Crime, The Victim, The Murder Weapon, The Evidence, The Suspect and The Takedown. Within each element, there are seven choices.

When the voting on these six key elements closes on Oct. 31, the HAWAII FIVE-0 writing staff will begin crafting the script using the winning results. After the New Year, before the episode begins production in Oahu, Hawaii in February, viewers will continue to have input on other important elements in the episode throughout its production, such as props, cast wardrobe, music and the title.

"Viewers loved helping figure out the 'whodunit' episode last season," said Executive Producer Peter Lenkov. "Now, we want to up the ante by having viewers' input on the production of a show. From story to props, viewers will help call the shots. And yes, this is fun for me when I get to see just how creative our writers can be when the key elements are chosen."

"We are always looking for ways to engage with our viewers and reward fan loyalty," says Glenn Geller, Executive Vice President, Current Programming for CBS. "A Fan-Built Five-0 is another great example of how Peter Lenkov thinks outside the box in order to deliver exciting and original stories to the viewers."

"Last season's 'choose-your-own-ending' vote marked a television first," said Marc DeBevoise, EVP and GM, Entertainment, News & Sports for CBS Interactive. "With this episode, we're building on that milestone by creating interactive elements that give fans the ability to help shape the episode."
