"You dropped this. Are you okay?" asked Grissom, handing a book to a pretty girl.
"Oh! Thank you, Grissom." she giggled.
This is Gil Grissom, hottie of the school, he has an A in every subject, and he has a purple belt in martial arts.

"Watch it, geek!" yelled a biker.
"Ah! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!."Sara said panickingly.
This is Sara Sidle . She's hot too. She's the hottest subject of the school, being the klutz. She has an A in every subject, too. What with being the super-dork of the school.

"Whoa!" Grissom yelled. Papers, books, and pens flew everywhere. Sara gasped.
"Oh my gosh! I am so, so sorry!"
"It's okay."
He helped her up. She looked at him, starry-eyed.
Stop that, Sara, you know that he's so out of your league.
"Are you okay?"
"Erm, yeah. Thank you." she said, flustered. Another reason why Grissom was so popular was because he was so understanding and nice.
"Bye."
"Huh? Oh, bye."

"Hey, Grissom!" his friends yelled.
"Oh, 'sup, guys?"
"You know how we said that we would come up with your bet? Well, we got it. We'll give you $20 each, if you ask that dork out."
"You mean, Sara?"
" Yeah ask her out, then dump her in front of the entire school at the rally next Friday."
"But-"
"What's the matter? Scared?"
Grissom thought for a moment.
"I'll do it"...

"Hey! Sara!" Grissom hollered. It was after school.
"Huh? Oh, hi, Grissom," she said, biting her lip.
"There's this formal party my parents are forcing me to go to, so, do you want to come with me?"
"S-sure! I mean, sure! Sure, why not?"
"Great. I'll pick you up at 7."
"Okay. Bye."
He ran off. She stumbled into a locker, swooning. Had Grissom just asked her out?
"Gil Grissom just asked me out," she murmured. She grinned, then ran home.

6:30...
Grissom's mouth dropped. Sara lived HERE? She never mentioned taht she lived in a mansion. He took a deep breath.
Ding-dong
A short, bald dude answered the door.
"Name?"
"Uh...Gil Grissom."
The butler checked the list.
"Enter."
"Thanks"
"They walked into a large parlor.
"Wait here." he instructed.
He sat on the leather, gold-rimmed couch. Suddenly, he heard footsteps.
"Hey, Sar-" he stopped short. He tried catching his breath. He choked. Where was that nerdy girl who was the klutz of the school? She had been replaced with some movie star, because this breath-taking girl was not, could not be, Sara Sidle. She had on a brilliant green dress, and her hair had been gently curled.
"Hi, Griss!" she said cheerfully, "You're early."
"Um, yeah, I just wanted to see what your house was like."
"Oh, well, we've got 25 minutes. Wanna play Bug Fight 4?"
"What? The third one just hit the stores!"
"Yeah, but my dad created the game?"
It took Grissom 15 whole seconds to let that sink into his mind.
"You mean, your father is David Sidle?"
"Yup. C'mon."
Grissom followed, dazed. The theme song started to play. They blasted Bug Fight, until...
7:00...
"C'mon, it's time to go."
"But-"
"Grissom."
"Fine," he pouted.
They got into his BMW and drove off.

Re: Grissom is the most popular guy at school. And Sara the

They walked in, Grissom's hand dangerously close to hers.
"So, c'mon." He pulled her onto the dance floor. He closed his eyes, expecting her to stumble. Nothing happened. He reopened them. Sara was...as graceful as air. She put her foot in the right place at the right time, and she never missed a beat. He was surprised. How did a klutz like her dance like that? She grinned teasingly.
"Surprised?"
"Uh...actually, yeah."
She laughed, not mockingly, but warm and clearly. The song ended. Grissom led her out to the garden outside. She took a deep breath, letting the crisp scent of lavender and jasmine tingle her nose. They sat on a rock.
"You're a good dancer."
"Thanks. My mom taught me."
"Really? Cool. Does she own a dance school?"
Sara hesitated, "My mother died."
Grissom's eyes widened. "When was that?"
She smiled sadly, "Mother's Day."
So that's why Sara never appeared on Mother's Day.
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be."
But he had to be. Sara had entrusted him with a secret, and he was humiliating her for 20 bucks.
She smiled, "She's right there."
She pointed to a brightly shining star. She hesitated.
"I've never told anyone this, but..." she blushed, "She used to sing this one song to me, and at night, I sing it to myself, pretending it's her."
"Can I hear it?"
"I sing terribly."
"Betcha don't. Please?"
"O-okay."
Her sweet, warm voice carried into the air. Grissom listened to the sad, beautiful melody.
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes
And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daugter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes...
She stopped, embarassed. Grissom had tears in his eyes. He had no idea why he was crying for her, but that song...
"You sing...like an angel."
"Grissom."
They changed the subject to their relief...
LATER...
"Thanks, I had a good time tonight."
"So did I," he said honestly.
"Really?"
"Yeah. Hey, you wanna come watch SpiderMan tomorrow?"
"Where?"
"At my house. My family's having a movie night, and they told me to bring someone, so would you like to come?"
"Sure! I've seen Spider-Man 11 times. It's my favorite movie."
"No way! Me too!"
"Cool. So...uh..."
"Yeah, good night."
He kissed her on the cheek, and she got out, him driving off. She felt her cheek, then sighed happily.
Grissom tossed and turned all night. What was it about this girl that made him so...comfortable? All those other girls, he never spoke, he just ate, gave them flowers, etc... But, Sara...she trusted him, and he felt like he could trust her, too, but why?

Re: Grissom is the most popular guy at school. And Sara the

"That was great," Sara sighed happily.
"Yeah."
They had just finished watching Spider-Man, so they decided to take a walk. Grissom checked his watch.
"It's getting late. We'd better go home."
"Okay, let's walk through here. Looks like a shortcut." she said, pointing to a dark alley. Grissom smiled nervously.
"Not a good idea." he muttered.
"Why not?"
Suddenly, they heard footsteps. They whirled around. A group of boys stood there.
"Heh heh. Uh, what's up guys?" Grissom said, trying to sound perky.
"You know what's up, Grissom," the leader snarled. Then, he noticed Sara.
"Who's this? New girlfriend?"
"Yeah."
"Back off!" she snarled. He looked taken aback, then grinned.
"Wow, you go for the hotheads, huh?"
"We'll just be leaving now." he gulped.
"I don't think so."
Two guys grabbed Grissom. Someone was about to grab Sara, when...
She backflipped, kicking him in the stomach, then punching him. She had a wild, crazy look in her eyes...
5 MINUTES LATER...
Grissom gingerly stepped around the guys on the ground. They were groaning and rolling around. Sara gave them all a scornful look, breathing lightly and steadily.
"If you ever cross me again, I'll make you wish your mom never met your dad! C'mon, Grissom."
He followd, tentatively, stepping on the leader's gut.
"Oof!"
"My bad."
"That wasn't an accident!" Sara snarled. He was taken aback.
"And you call what you just did an accident?"
"Hurt people only when you have to."
"But-"
"I said, only if you have to."
He turned white. Was Sara figuring him out? His stomach lurched. Then, she said, smiling.
"Wanna get an ice-cream sundae? My treat."
He grinned.
"Sure."

Yeah, yeah! More please? Fast? lol

Re: Grissom is the most popular guy at school. And Sara the

They entered an ice-cream parlor. Grissom's legs turned to jelly. His friends were sitting at a booth close to the door. Sara smiled at him, not noticing his friends.
"So, what do you want?"
"Um..." he looked at the list of flavors, then his eyes drifted off to his friends. They looked at him, their eyes dancing with amusement.
"Hello? Earth to Gil?"
"Huh?"
"I said, which flavor do you want?"
"Um...I want banana milkshake supreme." (i made that up, but doesn't that sound gooood? )
"Okay."
"To split." Two could play at that game."
"What?"
"Just get a giant one, and we can split it, okay...cutie-pie?"
"Uh...sure."
She went to go order. Grissom casually walked over to his friends.
"What's up, guys?"
"Hey, dude."
Sara returned. Suddenly, Grissom got an idea.
"Hey, cutie-pie. I was wondering when you were getting back. I was getting lonely."
She raised an eyebrow. "Uh...glad to see I was missed."
"Well, 'course, babe. You're my girlfriend, after all."
"Uh...yeah. Okaaaaaay."
Grissom's friends looked at him, amusement and respect shining in their eyes.
"Order 33," the loudspeaker crackled.
"That's us," Sara said, pulling away from Grissom's grasp. She walked away. Grissom's friends made sure she was gone, then pounded him on the back.
"Dude!"
"Who knew you'd pull through?"
"I can't wait for the rally tomorrow!"
He forced a smile, his heart sinking. The rally. He had forgotten all about it. Sara came back.
"Gil, you coming or not?"
"Coming, sweet-thing!"
They split the sundae, Grissom occasionally feeding it to her. About 14 times. Sara also asked him if he was feeling all right 14 times. His friends gave him a thumbs-up time to time. She stared, confused.
"I have weird friends," he shrugged weakly. Sara laughed.

Re: Grissom is the most popular guy at school. And Sara the

"Football, Football!" cheered the crowd. Sara clutched Grissom's hand, him leading her through the crowd.
"I have to go make announcements at the podium, so see you later, okay?"
"Okay."
He walked off, thoughts whirling in his head.
No more ice-cream.
No more Bug Fight 4.
No more kicking the Alley Gang's butt.
No more Sara.
He swallowed, feeling a sense of unhappiness.
She Is a geek. Get over it.
He walked onstage.
"Helllllloooooo, Football fans!"
He was met by a loud roar.
"We're going to kick butt tomorrow at the football game, am I right?"
There was a loud roar again.
"I said, AM I RIGHT?"
"YEAAAAAH!"
That was the cue. In one swift moment, Grissom's friends upturned a bucket of pink paint all over Sara. It was quiet, and then, suddenly, there was a small titter. Soon, it turned to laughter.
"Once upon a time, there was a dork named Sara, thinking that she could fit in with the crowd. But she was wrong. All she did was get laughed at. Why? Because...she was a geek, and always will be."
By this time, the whole auditorium was laughing. Sara sat there, her face turning red, then green, then white. She let a tear slide down.
You knew that a popular kid like him wouldn't fall for you.
How could you be so stupid? So naive?
Why? Did you really think that Grissom liked you?
She jumped out of her seat, running outside. Laughter still rang in her ears. She ran all the way home, crying. There was only one time she had ever felt so terrible...
-FLASHBACK-
"Daddy! Daddy! Lookit! I made this for Mommy!" 4-year-old Sara squealed, holding out a clay plaque with an imprint of her thumb.
"My teacher says it's Mother's Day."
Her father smiled tiredly, "Very good, Sara."
"Daddy, what's wrong?"
"Er, nothing! Nothing, dear."
"Where's Mommy?"
"In...in the White Room."
Sara gasped. She loved the White Room. It was actually the hospital that was connected to her house, but she loved going there, helping the nurses and reassuring the patients. She ran in, standing on tiptoe.
"Can I help you?"
"Where's my mommy?"
The lady smiled sadly, "You'll see soon."
"What?" she asked, frustrated. A boy with brown hair and a small cowboy hat came, whispering in her ear.
"I'm sorry. She died."
She backed away, "What do you mean? Mommy's not dead."
Suddenly, a stretcher wheeled out, with a blanket covering...
"Mommy!" Sara squealed. "Mommy?"
She laid there, her skin even paler than it ever was, her hair no longer shiny, her eyes closed, hiding the sparkle usually in them, her soft, she no longer carrying the scent of lavender and jasmine.
"Mommy, it's not naptime. It's not nighttime yet. Why are you sleeping?"
She shook her mother. The cowboy said, "I'm sorry, Sara, is it? But, your mom's dead. She had cancer, I hear."
"Mommy's...dead?" she whispered. The clay imprint fell out of her hands, shattering. She watched as they wheeled her away.
"No! Bring my mommy back! Stop!"
-END FLASHBACK-
Sara cried and cried.
"Mom...mommy...help me."

Re: Grissom is the most popular guy at school. And Sara the

That was so cruel!!!! Did Grissom say all that? The little *BEEP* there's no way Sara should give him a second chance!!

I hope it wasn't him and he comes and apologizes.

Re: Grissom is the most popular guy at school. And Sara the

Grissom shivered against the cold wind. He felt the $100 in his pocket. He should've been happy. Why wasn't he?
Sara.
The wind seemed to whisper. He sighed.
"Well, well, look who came back."
The Alley Gang appeared. Grissom had unconsciously walked into their alley.
"Back off," he tried to say bravely. The leader sneered, then chuckled.
"Why should we? Your little girlfriend isn't here to protect you."
Two guys grabbed Grissom. The leader reared back, ready to punch him. Grissom closed his eyes.
"Sara what are you doing here?"
Sara kicked the leader in the rib.
"Ow!"
She kicked his chest, then pushed him against a wall.
"Tell them!"
"Grrr...Let him go!"
They released him. The sneaker was slowly removed. The leader sore. Everyone ran off.
"Sara, thank y-"
She spun on her heel. She started to walk away.
"Sara, wait!"
She continued to walk.
"Wa-whoa!"
He slipped, and the $100 bill landed at her feet.
"What is this? The money you got for asking me out?"
Grissom didn't look at her.
"How could you do this, Grissom? You're the only person besides my best friend thatI confided so much in! And you lied to me! it's bad enough that you broke up with me! It's bad enough that you humiliated me, but you lied to me for a whole week! I played your girlfriend for seven days!"
"But-!"
"No!"
"Please-!"
"No!"
"Just-!"
"NO!"
Then he slapped her. He didn't know why, but he did. It wasn't hard, but it hurt. She looked at him, pain crawling into her eyes.
"I-I didn't...I'm so- please-"
She ran off. He was schocked as he watched her run away...

THE NEXT DAY...
Grissom walked in, not that surprised to see Sara's seat was empty.
"Good morning, Green Hill. This is Principal Craft."
Everyone was waiting. Principal Craft was on the loudspeaker, so that meant that there was an important announcement to be made.
"I'm afraid to announce that there is grave news."
Quiet murmurs ran through the room.
"I'm sorry to announce that Sara Sidle was found yesterday, attempting suicide."
