Okay, so I held off on registering until now, but this episode was so good that I had to join in on the grading. I'm giving it an A. It was pretty classic in my book.

Welcome! I give this episode an A too. It was a solid episode.

 It was a great Danny/Flack moment. Danny didn't even need to be there to make it a classic! Flack and Danny have both said boom in the past, and I know we've had this discussion before about who said it first. I've been saying for a while that Danny needs to expand his vocabulary because, frankly, it's getting old when he says it. But when Flack says it....Aww, can you say picking up each others habits? :D ;)

 Adam was great, as always. I loved it when Mac smacks him with the file, or whatever it was. And Adam's delight when he opened the box full of phones was adorable.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I'm SO glad the writers are finally clueing in to what we've been seeing all along in terms of Danny and Flack's friendship. Finally!!

Mac smacking Adam with the file was pure hilarity. And only Mac could do it with a poker face. Another classic moment in my book. :)

I had very mixed feelings about this episode. It was really interesting to watch at first since while very ghoulish, I'm kind of a fan of crimes involving victims dying from hypercaustic agents rather than just gunshots, but it got very upsetting as it delved into a segment of society that is sickening to encounter. Hank Bedford and the other guy (Can't remember his name at the moment) were the utmost depraved evil humans that I've ever seen on this entire series due to the sick nature of their crimes. These kinds of people need to be executed or permanently sterilized so they never reproduce.

For the first time, I actually felt very sympathetic towards Stanton Gerrard despite the animosity that he and Mac have had ever since the end of season 3. Though Gerrard previously came off as being a worthwhile, if not irritating rival to Mac Taylor, to see him defend his daughter from what he percieved as being excessive interrogations was really something to see and it showed a different side to him. To see him break out in tears shows that even tough guys are far from invincible of in the saddest and most upsetting ironies. :(

It was great to see Gerrard back in the picture again and was hoping to see the fallout from Mac throwing the book at him in "Past Imperfect" for his role in Dobson's imprisonment years earlier. However it was very hard to watch as Gerrard literally self-destructed at the end though it was great to see that he cut Hank down like a diseased tree that he was. I don't blame Gerrard one bit for anything he did in this episode. I would do the same thing if that ever happened to my son or daughter.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::censored::mad::(

This would make for a potentially great story arc in seeing how Gerrard fares in upcoming episodes as the fallout from him killing Hank Bedford plays out or maybe even one with Gerrard actually joining the team though I'm certain he wouldn't take any orders from Mac.

ONTO THE MORE POSITIVE SIDE: I started breaking out laughing when Flack suddenly said "Boom!". Jesus Christ! Is Flack turning into Danny Part II? I also liked Adam and watching Mac smack Adam in the back with the file folder.

All in all, I think this was a good episode albeit, one that was hard to stomach at times.

I completely agree with you. The only time I could remotely stand Stanton was when he and Danny had words over the whole geek comment, and even then only 'cause I wanted to see what exactly Danny would do. To see this side of him was completely unexpected but also a welcome change from the rabid dog routine he usually pulls. I don't know what I would have done where I put in his position (and this stems from the fact that I don't have children of my own), but I expected nothing less out of Gerrard who is--whether we like him for it or not--a very passionate character.

A

It just had everything for me for a perfect episode.
I felt like as much as its a filler episode in a way before the finale it was still packed full and the taxi cab storyline still went through it.

Most of whats been said is what i think.
The humour at the start had me sat giggling its those kind of moments i really enjoy because it shows how comfortable they all are together.
Mac/stella was funny because its something they must pick up working together so long. And boom surely everyone has said it now from being around Danny so much.

Adam was priceless it was cute watching him act out the photos and both Stellas and Macs reactions were different. Stella's was a "i could watch this all day" and mac was just almost amused but to stressed to care

There wasn't actually that much Danny i thought... he was at the beginning then drifted off.

I think Lindsay was good in this episode i like watching her and Mac together it works quite well. Then interogation was nice to see her back to doing it, it was awkward but then if someones telling you they were raped and you assumed it was that i would be a tad awkward. I enjoyed her in it.

Gerrard was soo good he is one of those characters thats a total arse but i like it... i think cos i saw the actor in House which is totally different it was wierd. But he reaction after his daughter admited it was one of those moments you feel a chill and see him realise why she didn't want him there. I love how he and mac play off each other because you can see how much they conflict but you can also see how much they actually trust each other.

A good A siding on A+

It had great moments:

Don saying "Boom !!!" and Mac pointing out that Danny and him have been working too long together. (Hmmm...And I hoped other things...*naughty*).

Hawkes writing the equation on the board and Danny writing "nerd", totally deserved !!! *lol*

The conversation between Sid and Mac about performing autopsies alive, I think it was one of the few scenes with Mac laughting. *rofl*

Adam looking to the cell phones in the box with the same look than when he had to make those 3d puzzles episodes ago. *pout*

Defo A++++

Loved the humour at the beginning and now on reflection it's obvious they needed it to balance out the ending which was cold and twisted.

Carmen Argenziano reaction to hearing what happened to his daughter was perfect. It was if it had happened to his own daughter. Hopefully we'll find out he doesn't get too badly punished for what he did.

However, imho, for people like those creepy evil twisted sadistic b'stds, death is an easy way out.....

The whole episode was wonderfully paced and Adam shone again......he rules big time. He's up there with CSI's Archie as my favourite lab tech (Hodges is just too weird) and I've totally given up on Miami.

Glad to see some continuity from last week with creepy taxi driver. Hopefully that plot will get the ending it deserves.

This episode will leave me with a tinge of sadness as it's almost a certainty it's the last we'll see of Gerrard and I really like Carmen as an actor......he was great in House too.

Perfect A+ from me! This definitely enters my favorite category (I think you can tell that from the amount of commentaries written). It was so long ago since I was this captured and sucked in by an NY episode. (I think since Season 1, and Hung Out to Dry) I liked pretty much everything (with little exceptions). I didn't expect for the killers to be those two, I didn't expect that Jesse was a 30- something year old (a little too elaborate if you ask me, but nevertheless unexpected). The case was fantastic, and the ending was brilliant. I am more than curious to find out what will happen to Gerrard. (hope they don't forget about him). That was a perfect CSI episode. Character dynamic blended in with forensics and with a very disturbing case, that in the end gave me goosebumps. Outstanding performances from the guest cast, bravo for the casting director for this episode.

I haven't read any commentaries already made, so my apologizes if I will repeat something already said.

I will start off with my comments in a chronological order so I don't forget anything. (My apologizes if it got a bit too long)

The techinque used in the class president's speech was clicheed if you ask me, the way she was talking about morals, and showing the way the victim died.

How cute was Stella's scene with Mac? That was one of their best moments in the show so far. I can't even begin to describe the "boom" Flack used, the reply Mac gave him and that smile. It cannot be described by words.

(After 18 episodes I still hate the intro. The music sounds good, but the fact that they cut off some lyrics annoys me, and for Christ's sake put AJ Buckley and Robert Joy in the opening credits *is hopeful for season 5*)

 Danny was funny! For a moment there I thought he will actually answer Hawkes' question in a serious way. (The "pick me" part reminded me of Madagascar and the little cute animal Morty who yelled "Pick me! Pick me! I'm stake" So basically that's the image I'll have for Danny from now on.) Yeah and Danno, I agree with you buddy, Hawkes is a nerd, but so are you my friend

Flack to a kid (with a desperate look) "Just stop!" That's why I love you Donnie :)

Am I weird because the mention of the cabbie doesn't make me excited? Don't get me wrong, it's a nice idea and storyline and all that, but I'm not really that intrigued. I have a "333" moment here, I'm like "meh.." regarding the cabbie.

No Mac, Flack will not start riding your ass

Mac's little moment with Sid in the autopsy was very nice. I liked it. It's the fifth time I loled this episode.

The guy's bones were damaged by the acid, but the eye is almost intact? Hmm..

Adam rules! From today he is officially my favourite in the show! Danny, buddy, I'm sorry. That moment was so real, natural, genuine. When they show CSIs processing evidence they look all serious and thoughtful, especially in front of the computer, but Adam is being himslef. And the exchange of line with Stella: priceless! In conclusion: Whaaaaat uuup!!

Me and my mouth: in the next Scene Lindsay looks concerned while she's examining the evidence  Danny's just making his usual funny faces. I love the dynamic between Danny and Hawkes: pure chemestry! I loved the way Hawkes raised his eyebrow after discovering where the "little gem" might have come from.

I also liked the interrogation scene. The way they had Carmine looking at the camera pretending it's the suspect, was really good. At first Danny looked bored out of his mind.

Oh! The cabbie is monitoring the victims not only randomly picking them. Nice twist. I'm still not very pumped up about it, but it may end in an unexpected way.

Yes! Finally inspector Gerrard. The scene didn't disappoint me at all. I liked the way he was screaming and shouting at Mac, and I loved the way Mac calmed him down. Nice dynamic here aslo. Yay! Gerrard - team drama. I liked the actress playing Natalie. She was great. At the beginning of the interrogation when Mac asked her if something had happened, she said "No", but looked at Lindsay. Nice touch there.

Mac! Don't hit Adam! That's not nice. In fact you should give him a raise because he's done a perfect job with that little Photosynth or whatever  Mac and Adam moments are the best, well.. Adam /everyone moments are the best :D [/fangirl]

(Where the hell is Danny? Was he on the episode less than Hawkes? Hmm..)

The second scene with Natalie was heartbreaking. Gerrard's look behind the window, Natalie's performance, perfect. liked it so much. It didn't last too long, it didn't last too little.

My jaw dropped when Gerrard shot Jesse. Wow! What an ending! I can't find the words to describe it, but it was excellent.

ETA: Oh my God! That got long  and I restrained myself from saying many, many things  This episode I will definitely watch for at least 4 more times.

I think Garrard should just get suspended. Hell, if Mac can provoke a suspect into fighting without ANY consequences (I STILL hate that :rolleyes::rolleyes: ) Garrard should only face minor punishment for killing the rapist.

I think that is a bit more complicated with Gerrard, given the fact that he shot the rapist in the police station, in the interrogation room. The rapist shouldn't have been guarded by uniforms? But I don't think that we will be blessed with a deep story line on this subject. We'll be lucky if we find out in the next season what happened to Gerrard.

Am I the only one who noticed Mac pull his gun out of Flack's desk drawer? Anyone else find that a bit strange? Unless it's some kind of procedure since Mac was interrogating one of the suspects.

Yeah, I know, I was overreacting, but I still HATE HATE HATE that Mac wasn't punished. He provoked the guy. :scream::mad::mad::mad::censored:

Ooo, ooo, I noticed! When I was rewatching it earlier, I saw that. It made me laugh a little, especially since he just went into Flack's desk like that. I would imagine that would have something to do with him going into interrogation unarmed and stuff, but it still made me chuckle. :)

There's also the difference that Gerrard shot Jesse point blank in the head. Mac was wrong to provoke Dobson into a fight, but Dobson was doing some provoking of his own (though Mac really should have known better to respond in kind). But Mac did not kill Dobson, he didn't push him off that roof. By fighting with Dobson, I guess he did make it easier for him to jump, and to set Mac up by doing it. But then, Dobson may well have jumped had Mac done the right thing and just held the gun on him. But when it comes down to basics, Gerrard killed a suspect in police custody, deliberately. Mac didn't kill Dobson . While I think Gerrard shouldn't go to jail for what he did, or at least that he should get a lenient sentence, I do think he should be, and will be fired. I think that's what he expects, I think he knew full well that by killing Jesse he was sacrificing his career for his daughter.

I gave it an A+

That first scene with the banter between Mac and Stella and Flack and Danny (in absentia) was wonderful. Mac and Stella's friendship and Flack and Danny's are the two most significant, mature, and interesting to watch relationships on the show and throughout the CSI franchise, and this scene showed how close they are to each other and how comfortable around each other they are. They really are like a family.

When Danny says 'Boom' it's kinda old, but when Flack says it, it's cool!

Loved Flack's expression at the suck-up kid, and Stella's at the wannabe detective kid.

That scene between Mac and Sid was hilarious! Sid went very, very far into his Creepy Place and the expressions on his and Mac's faces were priceless!:guffaw:

Adam was absolutely adorkable in this ep, and his hair was all scruffy and sexy lookin'. I loved his geeking out over the box of phones and playing with that photo program, and talking about HoHos.:guffaw: The scene where Mac whacked him playfully on the back of the head with the file was classic.:guffaw: Made me think of Gibbs from NCIS.:guffaw:

Loved seeing Flack and Mac get pissy with that guy in the secret casino. Loved it when Mac got Major Pissy and shoved the guy against the wall. That was HAWT!

The casino hidden behind the 'washing machine' was cool.

Mac and Gerrard's scenes were all great. This ep really showed that though each have done wrong things to the other in the past politically, they are able to respect and trust one another on the job. Gerrard despite being rightly angry/frustrated/protective of his daughter DID listen to Mac and did co-operate, while still being a good father. Mac in turn was compassionate to Gerrard - I'm thinking especially of the two scenes in the viewing room - when he could have been a complete dick to him. It's wonderful that both men are mature enough to put their political differences and the animosity between them as a result of that, aside when they need to.

Carmen A. was absolutely AMAZING. He totally took Gerrard out of the 'bad guy/enemy of the team' role, and made him a compassionate, emotional, and likeable character. He showed an amazing range of totally realistic fatherly emotions from frustration to protectiveness to love for his daughter to horror and sorrow when he found out what had happened to his daughter. That end scene after he shoots 'Jesse' was incredible, no words needed, everything conveyed through his eyes and facial expression etc. I love that final look between him and Mac, Mac seemed to be shocked but also understand why Gerrard did it, and I think in that moment Gerrard understood the emotions that drove Mac up on to that roof with Dobson last year, he understood what it's like to be a by-the-book guy who is driven over the line by emotion. In that respect, Mac and Gerrard are very alike.

The girl who played Natalie was also very, very good.

It was great to see Mac all stressed out over the conflicting demands and difficult, politcally problematic cases. It shows he's human and gets stressed out over work just like everyone else.

The Hawkes/Danny scene was hilarious. I love me some nerdy Hawkes, and the way Danny pointed his nerdyness out was classic.:guffaw:

The one thing I really disliked about this ep was Lindsay. Her hair looked awful. Either AB's hairdresser has terrible judgement about what looks good for her, or he/she really/really dislikes her. She looked terrible this ep. And, dear TPTB, AB cannot emote. Please do not be putting her in any scenes where real and believable emotion is needed.:scream:

I'm hoping that's what it was. :p Don didn't even flinch, so I'm assuming he's done it before.
