Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

New Thread! We should play a song for the party.
I know I know I know I know I know I know I know.....

Hi there TruSidle ! Like Erica always says, over here we don't bite...much :D

I understand your curiousity, sometimes I still ask myself why people ship GSR, lol. But I agree with what all the others had said, in our eyes GC just are. I saw them as a couple right from the start and I've seen them as just that ever since. I'm like a few others, I'm comfortable with other pairings but just not GS because I've always seen them as mentor/sutdent, sorry.

Btw, I see that gc are sharing yet another item  sometimes they share their thoughts too, look how they finish each other's sentences. In due time, they'll be sharing the same name.

Gil: I'll take cath in front of disco placid.

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

Yeah I mean I'm totally open to the whole GC shipping, I've just never gotten why before.

But I guess there have been moments. And yeah, they are really close, so I guess it just is how you look at that closeness. I see it as a close friendship, and you see it as something more. That's awesome.

But seriously, if it wasn't Grissom and Sara, Grissom and Cath would be the next best thing! :)

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

You know, last night, I was just thinking about why people choose ships and then I come into here and someones asks the same question I asked myself. I agree that ships are very subjective and it really comes down to personal preference.

Actually, I have a theory about how shippers became shippers and I wanted to run it by you guys first, cuz after all, GC is my OTP. I just want to see if my hunch is valid, so I'd appriciate if everyone could answer a couple of questions. If you don't answer its no big deal.

When you first started watching the show, what episode did you see first? Did you see any promos for the show? If so, what were the promos like?

My hunch is that a shipper's first impression of CSI may have had something to do with which pairings they ship. I know that was true for me. The first ep of CSI that I saw was Feeling the Heat. When I saw how Grissom and Catherine interacted, I thought they belonged together. I had also seen them together in MANY promos prior, but it was after seeing them interact that I felt that they were right. I just want to see if that was true for anyone else.

BTW I felt numb too after Sara was rescued. It just felt...odd.

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

I've followed CSI since they aired season 1 in Sweden.
So I began from the beginning. And I just had the whole GSR in my head from the start.

But maybe if I had started watching another episode I might've shipped GC or something. I don't know. But I think that is a pretty good point.

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

I didn't really get into the show until around mid-season 5. I watched the premiere when it first aired in 2000, but wasn't hooked. It wasn't until I was channel surfing one evening, and as usual, nothing was on. SpikeTV was airing CSI for two hours each day (as they still do) and I found myself tuning in every day (while at work) and became hooked, but I can't remember what episode that actually got me.

For me though, it wasn't really about which episode, it was more the fact that ever since the show began, it was always Billy & Marg on the promos, Billy & Marg on the awards shows, Billy & Marg on the entertainment shows... Everything you saw was Billy/Marg or Gil/Cath promos. So, when I got into the show, and saw how Gil & Cath interacted with each other so comfortably, and how they knew each other so well, it was just the obvious pairing that I gravitated to.

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

Funny, I was just telling someone this morning about the first CSI episode I watched.
It was Chaos Theory. At the time, I really liked the show. I remember thinking that I had seen William Petersen before (probably from The Beast ) and Marg before too. It dawned on me later that she was in China Beach. At that time, I was a new mother to one-month-old twins so any chance I had to relax was appreciated.
As I watched, I really noticed how Gris and Cath worked togther. I have said this before, I thought they were either married, or divorced. Their dynamic together really made me enjoy the show.

Sadly we stopped watching for years...
When one night my hubby turned on the TV and there was CSI still on. We watched King Baby. The tush comment was so funny, I thought for sure Cath and Gris were married.
Imagine my suprise to see the end of Season 6...

I spent all last summer watching reruns on SPIKE filling in the years of missing episodes.

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

haha, that actually isn't how i became G/C shipper.

I actually watched miami before vegas, and it is the reason i started watching csi, so yes, the spin offs are a good thing!

I started to watch the reruns when spike started to air them, since i always missed the new eppys on thursdays. I had heared about GSR, so I went into the show expecting to be a GSR shipper. One of the first eppys was 'scuba-dooby-doo', and it is still one of my faves (i love crazy cases). I did like the GSR then, and i thought it was kind of cute. But the more eppys I watched, the more I saw how badly it was being done, and how unhealthy grissom and sara's relationship was. I saw her being obsessed with him, and Grissom to frightened of her to do anything. But then I noticed how much chemistry grissom had with cath, and how much they reminded me of scully and mulder. They have so much chemistry, and a healthy relationship, that it couldn't be ignored, just seemed to fit better, where as the GSR seemed more forced as the eppys went on.

Then I started to obtain newer eppys, and one of the first ones i got was 'king baby', and the rest is history. I don't like sappy romance, and that is what's good about them...it isn't cheesy. I wouldn't want them to get together on the show, unless they just have meanless sex, because apparently logical storylines and relationships can't coexsist on this show...

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

My first episode was the pilot, but I don't think pilots usually get you hooked. I started watching the show because of Marg. Naturally I became a Catherine fan and any ship that involved Catherine was fine by me. But since Gil and Cath were partners/equals, shared most of their scenes with each other and had imo the greatest dynamic on the show, plus what kaylyne said, that it was always Cath/Gil or Marg/Billy we saw everywhere, PureJoy just naturally became my OTP. I had heard about how Sara was supposed to be Grissom's love interest from someone I knew who lived in Canada (we were a bit behind in Asia) so yeah, I expected to see Grissom/Sara, but just like xf, it turned out that I found it odd, or awkward. They just didn't do to me. On the other hand, the chemistry and sparks between Catherine and Gil were so natural that they already looked like a married couple to me even though TPTB never intended to hook them up. :)

Hey mj, welcome back! It's nice to see you again! :D

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

MJ061, I'd first like to start OT by saying that I LOOOOVE your icon. Cuddy is awesome. And so hot in the premiere.

Anywho... My first real CSI ep (by real, I mean, an ep that I actually paid attention to 100%) was the finale of season 6. I was insanely confused about Brass being shot, but the small moments C&G had kind of popped out at me.

I was like, hey... I could totally see those two cuddling up at home together!

And I mean, Cath's aweosme, Gil's awesome... So together, they're just super awesome.

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

YAY! THEY SHARE BINOCULARS! :D That totally screams 'OTP' to me. :D :p

Can you say "GRILLOWS HOTNESS"?

*Throws CONFETTI!*

Great photos, everyone! You all do Grillows proud.

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

They share everything - including their bed.

Almost finished supervisor porn. Mwahaha.

I actually don't remember what episode I first watched - but I do remember that I thought G and C were married...

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

My mom watched an episode with me and she told me that she thought Grillows were a couple too! :) She said that by th way they acted around one another. And the sexual tension. :D

OF COURSE they share their bed! :) And I bet they're sharing one right now! ;) They could be asleep as well though. :p

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

Hey, lovin the binocular caps. Thanks for them.

Erica, I was depressed for a whole hour after that episode. I had a history test today and had to stay up all night working, but I couldn't possibly work after a trauma like that. It was weird just how much an episode could get to me so emotionally, but that just tells me how involved I've gotten with this show over the years.

I think everyone around me thought Grillows was a couple to begin with. I think Marg is giving us an understatement when she said people speculated about Grissom/Catherine. Well it wasn't so much speculation as utter shock when we realized that they weren't married.

Re: Gil<3Cath #28: Love Is Sharing Water, Glasses and Everyt

With Gil and Cath, you can't so much speculate as much as being hit over the head with their chemistry...

I'm reuploading my fics to the TT site - so hopefully I'll be able to throw some new ones up there too :D
