Flack #8 - Flack, Don Flack

Yeah , definatly.I think he's doing a good job of it. There's probably "tough love" between him and his father. But, it gave Don a backbone, made him strong, and independent.

Agreed. Old man Flack, I think, is very stern and disciplines his children appropriately. I think Flack looks up to his old man. Come on, why would he go into law enforcement if he didn't look up to his father? (Although most children (though not all) tend to follow in their parents' footsteps when it comes to a choice in their profession. I know because I'm no exception to this.) His old man is an NYPD legend and living in his shadow may be tough at times but I think Papa Flack is proud of Junior.

The tension that is being shown between Flack and Sam really makes me want to see Papa Flack even more so at the moment. What was that scene between Gerrard, Sinclair and Flack about him taking after his father? I remember it being towards the end of season three. I feel like there is more tough love needed for Sam than Flack at the moment though.

True. maybe the father was tough on Flack because he's a growing boy.

Maybe he was more lenient with his daughter, spoil her (Daddy's little

girl) She's the probably the only daughter. maybe that's why.

Who can tell:Kristine, it is what meanings, one monicker? Or other? I at for it headache.

Uh......Concerning the CSI NY5-1 ,I howbeit no see,I think,at Tuesday me will discover it.:(

Yeah, I kind of agree with this. However, I think Sam's the rebel of the family, sort of the black sheep, trying so hard to shed her Daddy's Little Girl image.

Zhu, I can't see the link you posted. :( As for your sig, I can see it but you can only have graphics or text as your sig and not both.

I think, maybe that changed whe she became a teenager. Her bein Daddy's

little girl.

Remember what Flack told Angell in Commuted Sentences:

Flack: Four older brothers and a Detective Sergeant for a father. Your

old man dust you for prints when you got home from a date?

Angell: If it was up to them I wouldn't have known boys existed until I

was 21.

She probably got tired of the old man's rules and expectations and having

to live up to all that. Moved out at an early age, moved in with her

boyfriend. Things got really up-tight in the Flack household.

And the only person she kept in touch with is her older brother.

I can actually imagine that. Probably the old man was so strict that she felt suffocated by all the rigid rules. I mean that could drive even the most obedient child insane once in a while. I think she's done things just to be contrary. Maybe living in the shadow of big brother Don also made things a bit difficult?

That fits very well with this family profile. Thats 4 sure.

You can't put soo many rules on kids - they just gotta be kids. Hey, we

screw up -but we learn, right?

I can't say that I agree that she was in Flack's shadows because she

didnt follow their footsteps. Sam, is definatly not like anyone in this family.

We have yet to see how this "idea" develops. Sh'es not a bad person, but

I can sence some authority issues.

I agree. Although children need boundaries, too much rules will just make them want to rebel more.

I'm not thinking in terms of following Flack into the same profession but more in terms of Sam growing up, being compared to Don or her brothers all the time. Like maybe the old man going, "Why can't you be more like Donnie?" ...something to that effect. I know that most people hate being compared to their siblings.

Oh I agree. I can't wait until TPTB delve more into Flack's family background and explore the family dynamics. More Flack family drama is good. :D

My bad. LOL:lol:

P.S.

Its preety cool were on same page about Don Flack.

I don't know, I still picture Flacks dad as a hardass. I think she would have been more like daddy's little girl and when she said "please don't tell him you know how he gets" Maybe he would just be really disappointed and she'd feel really bad. I think everyone here has seen the episode of the Simpsons where Bart steals the video game and how much it upset Marge and how bad he felt. Maybe it's something like that. I think it all depends on how you look at everything. There's so many diferent ways to get things off of what they said in this episode.

You could think that Flack and his Dad try real hard to keep her out of trouble and have a good relationship with each other and she is just a total black sheep.

You could see it as maybe he only talks to his dad when they have to bail her out, and he won't do it so he has to call dad.

It could be that their dad goes crazy and wrestles tigers and bears when she gets into trouble, but still manages to bail her out, if Flack can't, with the money he gets for wrestling the tigers.

you never know. Right now with what we've gotten, anything could be "how he gets." personally I think it's the third one ;)

But there definitely is something about that family and we have yet to find out!

The role of an older brother is something that Eddie Cahill himself could

relate to. Having a younger and an older sister. I wonder how much of

that was brought into the role...? If not at all.......

The scene Flack's conversation with Sam, looked very authentic.

He had a genuine concern for his sister.

From CSI FILES Review of VERITAS:

"Flack treats his sister with a mixture of irritation and brotherly concern....

....but beneath that bluster it's apparent that he's genuinely concerned

for her.

Cahill's layered performance makes the complexity of the Flack siblings'

relationship apparent to the audience.

There's real emotion between the two in this scene.

Is Samantha really turning her life around, or is it just a façade? Hopefully

we'll find out, because exploring the Flack family dynamic is a welcome

look into the life of the carefully controlled detective, easily one of the

show's most compelling characters.

I tottaly agree with everything above.
