Episode 8x15 - 'Miami, We Have a Problem' ***CONTAINS SPOILERS***

AWESOME episode!!! Maybe I am biased, but I did really LOVE seeing Ryan for more than one scene! Love the fact they remembered he is SMART, and the way he displayed his character was just amazing. And to top it all off, I actually enjoyed seeing Jesse and Walter (I always enjoy Walter, though). I didn't feel either was forced, and over all, it seemed the entire team was pretty equal... with the exception of Natalia...which DID suck because I do love Nat. Especially her interaction with Ryan, so yeah.

The actual case was pretty interesting too. Kept my attention! It really didn't leave anything to be desired, on my part. Most of the lines were pretty hilarious, as most of you have said- I really enjoyed Ryan's "I'll be gentle..." That was priceless! Walter and Jesse had some great lines as well! All in all, just purely awesome. Should tide me over for the break over the next few weeks (not. LOL). ;)

I had to watch this episode twice to take it seriously, and I still can’t believe they made the premise of it work – but they really did. It had to be taken with a grain of salt, but the case made sense. I’ve never heard of space-flights before, but I can imagine it’d cost millions of dollars. Sounds exciting. I loved the ME’s scenes when he was trying to figure out what killed the guy. LOL, it was like he’d gotten Guitar Hero for Christmas.

Ryan, Jesse and Walter were just cute. Walter and Jesse with their zero-gravity experiment (could’ve done without Walter throwing up, though), Ryan with that little evil grin he gave the ship-owner when he said he’d “be gentle”. I think his attitude would’ve bothered me more in any other episode, but the members of that crew (and the guests on the ship) got under my skin like few other CSI-suspects have in a while now. It made perfect sense that all of them were in on the guy’s death in one way or another. The bunch of them were rubbing me the wrong way throughout the entire episode, and it was starting to bug me that I couldn’t pin down which one of them I suspected more for the murder.

I think what made this episode work was that they knew the premise was somewhat outlandish, and as a result they let themselves have fun with it rather than taking it too seriously and trying too hard to make it seem realistic. It didn’t seem very much like a work day at the lab, but it was still believable. I wish we’d gotten to see more of Natalia, though, especially since it looked like she and Calleigh were finally sharing another friendly moment (it’s been a while since they’ve had that kind of banter, hasn’t it?). Why she would just vanish for the last half of the episode is beyond me.

:) There have been several private space flights for which the passengers pay a handsome sum, in the millions. The premise is unlikely, but then, so are most premises. This was little different. Outlandish? No. Improbable? Of course.

It was a fun episode, though, and the cast certainly had fun with it.

I'd simply just like to echo what everyone else here has said. One of the best Miami episodes in such a long time. They do make the bodies look so good in all 3 shows, but the MEs in each make every autopsy interesting and intelligent. I loved Ryan in this episode, thank god they have scrubbed his moment of silliness and got him back on track. Being British myself, I like Travers although a few less cardigans would be nice.. we don't all wear them lol. I also loved that fact that Ryan had to check that the numbers Travers gave were were American or British - it's minor scripting like this that makes me really appreciate the writers more.

I thought the supporting actors this week were extremely good and conveyed a real sense of being deeply in the grove with the show, sometimes it seems that guests are out of place, but I didn't get that feeling here at all.

More Tom please!

The big problem with this episode -as I see it- is that the actual 'murder' didn't happen in Miami but in a place (space) where the Miami Police doesn't have jurisdiction. Sure, it's probably illegal to drop a dead body from a helicopter, but that was the only unlawful action that happened in the episode. Did I miss something or did the writers?

I think this is a totally valid point, which was probably missed by the writers and most of the fans. I know that detail went over my head, perhaps it can be explained by saying that the flight originated from Miami and the body dropped and landed in Miami.
It certainly would have been interesting if the body had dropped perhaps in NY or Vegas...but that is another crossover and story all together

^CSI:Star Trek???

But seriously, what's next? -Who actually has jurisdiction in outer space?

I think the jurisdiction would fall to the Miami PD if the company who made the ship is located in Miami. If it was located in Orlando, then it would be in the jurisdiction of the Orlando PD.

^More like: where the ship was registered is the nation who's laws apply, I take it.
In this case (as it's also an airplane) the 'N' would suggest the USA. (If indeed it is an N that's the first letter of the number on the ship -I can't seem to make a good screencap or freeze frame to see it.)
