CSI: Crime Scene Investigation creator <font color=yellow>Anthony Zuiker</font> Thursday said he was thrilled the series notched up its second Emmy nomination in a row for Outstanding Drama Series. Speaking with the Hollywood Reporter trade paper, Zuiker said it was a "really big honour" to receive the nod, even though CSI is a "forensic process show". The news - delivered at just before 5:40 a.m. Thursday morning - came as a "relief" to Zuiker and the other CSI producers, according to <font color=yellow>Lynn Elber</font> of the Associated Press. "We sort of went big last year, went into a lot of worlds, the show got bigger than us, so we were nervous it wouldn't be recognised," he said, acknowledging the pressure of running two CSI series at the same time. <font color=yellow>Peter Sussman</font>, CEO of CSI co-producer Alliance Atlantis, was also pleased with the seven Emmy nominations for the forensic franchise - six for the original series and one for the spin-off, CSI: Miami. He said the company's investment in the series has paid dividends. "We were wise enough to recognize there was franchise potential in this series and the trick was to exploit the franchise in a manner that wouldn't compromise the mother ship," he told Canada.com. "And it was our instinct and research and investigation that concluded that the time we launched Miami was exactly the right time."
