There will be a steady hand at the tiller for the launch of CSI: New York.
<font color=yellow>Danny Cannon</font>, who directed the pilots of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami, will do the same for CSI: New York, Variety reported. The first New York outing will actually be one of the final instalments of Miami's second season, with shooting slated to commence in early April.
"The visual style of CSI is so distinctive, and Danny has a lot to do with that," said CBS head honcho <font color=yellow>Les Moonves</font>. "He's a very important part of the team, and we're real happy he's doing the pilot."
The pilot deal comes as part of a new one-year contract between Cannon and CBS, which promotes him to executive producer of CSI: New York and CSI: Miami, having served as executive producer of CSI since season three. The new pact also entitles him to direct episodes of all three series and write instalments of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
<font color=yellow>Jonathan Littman</font>, CSI executive producer and head of Bruckheimer Films' TV division, said Cannon never settles for second best. "He's constantly having to find ways to make it new, make it fresh and never let it get routine. Everyone's copying us now, and we have to stay ahead of the curve."
In addition to CSI's "Pilot" and the Miami crossover, "Cross-Jurisdictions", Cannon has directed episodes such as "Inside The Box", "Alter Boys" and "Blood Brothers". He also co-wrote "Assume Nothing" with CSI creator <font color=yellow>Anthony Zuiker</font>.
