CSIs Get Too Involved In 'Weeping Willows' And 'Iced'

CSI Files

Captain
Catherine and Grissom struggle to stay only peripherally involved in two different murder investigations in the episodes "Weeping Willows" and "Iced".

Only a few minutes after the start of "Weeping Willows", Catherine meets theepisode's main guest character - defense attorney Adam Harris, played byAlan Rosenberg, the real-life husband of <fontcolor=yellow>Marg Helgenberger. Like Catherine, Adam is looking forlove in Vegas's Highball Bar, and the two quickly hit it off. They start tokiss, but when Adam wants too much, too fast, Catherine doesn't seem to bethat interested after all, and heads back home.

A short while later, Catherine has to investigate the murder of a youngwoman named Alice, found outside her apartment building with a bullet holein her head. At first, it seems like an easy case: Alice had been tellingfriends she was worried about her ex-boyfriend Jeff stalking her, and hadeven obtained a restraining order against him. The CSIs go to pick up Jeff, and while he admits he still had an unhealthy interesting in Alice, this mayhave enabled him to see her killer. Last night, he was watching Alice comingout of a local bar - the Highball Bar. She got into a car belonging to noneother than Catherine's friend Adam Harris.

Department rules require Catherine to immediately remove herself from theinvestigation, but she doesn't, and even when interrogating suspects in theHighball Bar she conceals from the other CSIs that she was in there only afew hours ago. Catherine embarks on an investigation in which she tries ashard as possible to find evidence that will exculpate Adam, while at thesame time she is plagued with worries about her own progressing age andregressing attractiveness. And all this only gets worse when Grissom findsout about Catherine's conflict of interest, and he assigns Sara to questionCatherine...

Following "Weeping Willows" is the penultimate episode of the season, "Iced". In this episode, Conrad Ecklie asks Grissom to witness the trial of a murder that occurred last year. On November 15th, Joanna Klein's body was found in the woods with fly larvae inside of her and Dr. Mark Thayer, an entomologist and expert witness for the defense, claims he can prove the accused is innocent with simple science and math. The Black Blow Fly has a life-cycle of 15 days, meaning Joanna was murdered on November 1st - while the defendant didn't come back into the country until the 3rd of November. Grissom is surprised to learn Dr. Thayer video documented the life-cycle of the fly in great detail for the jury, but soon begins to debate whether he should take the stand when he realizes science doesn't lie, but it can be manipulated.

While Grissom spends a day in court, Catherine, Sara and Greg investigate the death of two college students. Trip Wilmont, one of the basketball team's stars, tends not to have sex before a game, or at least that is what everyone believes. But when he's found dead in his dorm room with Stephanie Levine next to him, the CSIs begin to wonder what other secrets Wilmont was protecting. Stephanie's parents are certain Trip sexually assaulted their daughter while Trip's parents insist Stephanie seduced Trip. When the sexual assault kit comes back negative and the cause of death is determined as poisoning, the CSIs are forced to approach the case from another angle. Meanwhile, tensions flare in the morgue when a body is stolen and later returned, but not in its original condition.

Really looking forward to these... Especially Weeping Willows. Curious to see how Marg and Alan play off each other. I think it's great that they cast him.

I'm looking forward to Iced. (I just got used to calling it Secrets and Flies durn it :) ) I'm curious to see Ecklie ask for Grissom's help. And naturally after watching 4X4 Im all ready for another Sara & Greg case!!

You KNOW if it has Willows in the title, I'm all for it, so I don't need to go on and on about the first one.

But the iced one has Catherine, Sara and Greg working together? After she's investigated for a conflict of interest. Could be the shift overlap, or she may REALLY get herself demoted this time.

Why would Catherine get demote?

And I see no reason to jump to conclusion that Catherine did anything wrong.

Hey, sorry this is ma first post cos i just joined altho been reading a lot of people posts keeping up with what people have been said

there's no way that catherine was demoted, if she was ill scream :(
shes prob got to take charge of the graveyard shift cos gris is maybe away, and is sara even level 3 and gregs just new
thats just my theory tho

Woah! I said IF. She is being investigated for violating a policy she's violated a couple times before. Even without that, Ecklie has demoted someone before for no reason (Sofia). I'm not even saying it would happen. All I said was IF. I'm not even saying she'd deserve it. Just that Ecklie likes to cause problems. *ducks* I just like to throw hypotheticals out there. I don't even neccisarily think the stuff I throw out will happen...it's just hypothetical, something to think about.

Im half way through watching "Nesting Dolls" and saw the arguement between sara and catherine, then it got me worried about "weeping willow" episode because its sara questioning catherine. I really hope there's no lasting tension between them

Does anyone else think that Catherine makes out with guys too much on this show, i mean she's the only one who really does it. Also, the tension between sara and catherine should stop, cos although it does make for drama, i just want it to end!
