'CSI' Plays A Part In Murder Inquiry

Episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation could provide clues for a long-running investigation into a triple homicide in Brisbane, Australia.

Police officers requested copies of several CSI episodes to aid them in their inquest into the deaths of three siblings found murdered in their home, the Courier-Mail reported.

The Nine Network, which airs the series in Australia on Tuesday nights, told the newspaper it had provided tapes of CSI episodes to the police. Nine's representative did not disclose which instalments of the series the police were analysing, citing the "ongoing nature of the criminal investigation".

Sisters <font color=yellow>Neelma</font> and <font color=yellow>Sidhi Singh</font> were found dead together with their brother, <font color=yellow>Kunal</font> in their home on April 22, while their parents were away in Fiji. <font color=yellow>Max Sica</font>, said to be "romantically-linked" with Neelma, found the siblings' bodies in a hot spa. The spa has complicated the procedure of dating the time of death, according to the Courier-Mail.

One of the episodes which the police could be studying is season two's "Alter Boys", in which a woman is found dead in a hotel spa. "Catherine and Warrick must determine if the woman found dead in the hotel spa was the victim of negligence, foul play or heat-induced natural causes," according to the official CBS synopsis.

As CSI is a series which prides itself on being as scientifically accurate as possible for a television show, police may also be using the episodes to study the latest forensic techniques. CSI's sets are full of up-to-the-minute scientific apparatus, and are better equipped than many crime labs in the United States.

Very interesting stuff.

(This may be a little off topic, if so I apologize.)

Here are a couple of things that were in the news not so long ago that have CSI similar episodes:

The "Unfriendly Skies" episode is very similar to this incident. The episode aired months after the incident happened so it possibly was inspired by the actual news story.

This case has been in the news lately and is VERY similar to the episode "Sounds Of Silence". The real life event happened after the original air date of that episode.

Re: Very interesting stuff.

Sherry,
There are over 49 cases that can be viewed from CSI files and real live documented events!
Some say this coincidence some say this is where they get there material for scripts.
I think if they saw a headliner and save it for next season and write it in. That way it is fresh but who knows except the script writers. Who knows!

Re: Very interesting stuff.

Yeah, you know the windshield case and the woman that just got 60 years? It's very similar to the plot in Anatomy of a Lye, where a man was hit by a car and left to die.

and of course in CSI: Miami, there was a sniper episode too.

Re: Very interesting stuff.

yup this is what also came to my mind...
same just a woman was actually guilty and not the man in the series. and yes remember the sniper as well..
and the plane crash in the glades.
still makes a good plot to see behind the scenes at what one thinks went on and how they got the evidence.
ok now back to the Pheonix. lol :)

Ooops!

You're absolutly right! It was the episode "Anatomy for a Lye" that was so similar to the Texas Windshield Murder case. I don't know why I typed in "Sounds of Silence". Thanks for giving the name of the correct episode. :)
