CHAP 6

Lindsay woke up to the sound of the birds singing their morning melodies. She didn’t want to open her eyes; she knew that if she opened her eyes she would have to face today’s events. She could feel the warmth coming off Danny’s body which made her feel secure, so she moved closer.

Danny was lying next to Lindsay watching her sleep. After the nights event of her waking up she looked peaceful and worriless. She shifted next to him and smiled as she pulled herself closer to Danny. The little curve her lips didn’t go unnoticed my Danny who realised she must be awake. ‘Montana, you awake?’

Danny heard a faint mumble next to him, so he did the only thing he could think off…

‘Danny, DANNY’ Lindsay said as wriggled trying to get away from Danny’s tickling hands, ‘Da… Stop please…Sto…Danny!’

Danny moved away from her and lay back down, they were now both laughing, ‘Couldn’t you have just poked me or something?’

‘Nope,’ Danny answered flashing his famous grin, ‘my way was a lot more fun!’

‘Whatever!’

‘So what times court?’ Danny asked turning.

Lindsay looked at her watch then turned to face Danny, ‘12:30, 3hours 17minutes and 29seconds’

Danny didn’t really know what to say. She really was even scared, worried or a little excited about finally knowing what would happen to the man that murdered her friends. He reached forward and brought her hand to his lips and kissed the top of it, ‘don’t worry Montana I’m here, don’t be scared’ She moved closer and Danny wrapped his arms around her.

They lay their just happy to be in each others company until Danny spoke, ‘What you thinkin’ Montana?’ No response, ‘Come on Linds, you might feel better…’

‘Ok…it’s just I still feel guilty you know?’

‘Don’t…’

‘Danny you don’t know what it’s like to all of your best friends, just disappear from your life! I was still a young girl back then Danny you have no idea! To be honest I am absolutely scared to death about the result but on the other hand after today I can put all of this behind me and get on with my life! But Danny after they died I promised that I would live a life for them- the ones they never got a chance to fulfil. I couldn’t do that with this man running around- I was scared. But after today I’m not living one life I’m living five!’ A single tear fell from her eyes as she buried herself into Danny’s chest.

Half an hour later Danny’s stomach moaned and even though both occupants of the bed were happy just to stay in their position they agreed that they should get change and go in search of food.

After Danny had changed he headed back to Lindsay’s room and knocked on the door, ‘Miss Monroe, are you ready?’

The door opened to a smiling Lindsay, ‘I am, yes sir’ they headed down the stairs towards the kitchen Danny once again taking an interest at the little brown haired girl in the old photographs.

‘Oh come on Messer!’ Lindsay said as she dragged Danny into the kitchen.

‘Oh good morning you two, nice to see you up!’ Maggie greeted them as she started to pile numerous amounts of items on two plates, ‘I was just about come up and get you you’ve got just under two hours until court starts and you know its better to get there about 45 minutes early!’

‘Why 45 minutes?’ Danny asked Lindsay as his curiosity became too much.

‘Well the press really! They keep getting earlier so I have to as well,’ Lindsay smiled weakly, ‘but I’m pretty used to them now anyway’ she finished trying to lighten the mood.

CHAP 7

It was 11:40 and they had just parked the truck at the back of the court house. ‘Ok time to face the music,’ Lindsay said as she smiled and headed towards the corner of the building, Danny close by. As if it was natural their hands met and entwined together, ‘Let’s go!’

When they reached the front steps many photographers and reporters rushed forward to meet Lindsay and Danny and many people spoke at once, ‘What is the verdict going to be….Are you nerves?...Miss Monroe, who’s the guy…Lindsay…Are you leaving for New York straight away?...Quote please…’

Lindsay seemed not to hear them- she had learnt to block out the questions, ‘A bit early this morning aren’t we boys!’ The journalists moaned as Danny and Lindsay entered the building disappointed that she had said the same thing as she did every morning.

‘I got a feeling that you’ll get a mention in the Bozeman Times!’ Lindsay said smiling.

‘What, why?’ Danny asked a little confused.

‘Danny those reporters have been out there every morning since I can back to Montana. They have just had a picture of me or close family but you a guy who’s obviously from New York!’ Danny still looked confused, ‘Danny ever since I was first put on the front page for being the ‘survivor’ they have reported the most useless bits of information in their newspapers and magazines. They posted things from my favourite bands, boyfriends to work! I don’t see you being any different!’

‘Oh’

Lindsay laughed, ‘come on lets get moving!’

Ok i've been very busy lately but had the urge to write.

‘We find the defendant guilty!’

Danny clasped Lindsay’s hand and pulled it towards his heart and even though he wasn’t looking at her he could feel the relief of Lindsay as she put her head on his shoulder. As they stood up Danny pulled her into a hug and felt a different Lindsay in his arms as he began to follow the crowd out she pulled him towards her and learned up towards him. Just before their lips connected the doors opened and there was a flash of lights as reporters began to snap Lindsay and ‘the city boy’. He reached for her hand and pulled her away from the growing crowd of people.

Lindsay led him out a back entrance and into the car park, ‘nice get away there Montana!’

Lindsay laughed and walked back forwards so she was standing in front of Danny, ‘Thank you Cowboy.’

‘For what Montana?’

‘For coming all this way to see me and don’t think I could have done this without you.’

‘I’d do it again Montana, your mums cooking is worth it!’

Lindsay hit him playfully in the chest as she leaned forward as kissed Danny sweetly on the lips. When she pulled away she smiled and walked around the truck to the other side and got in.

She turned and faced Danny, ‘Dan there’s one thing that I really need to do, will you come?’

‘Yeh sure,’ Danny replied as Lindsay started the Truck. After driving for 20 minutes Lindsay turned and parked the car. Danny looked around and saw rows of graves he didn’t even need to look at the sign to know where they were. ‘I’ll stay here Montana, you take your time.’

She got out and started to walk the familiar path towards the four graves. When she reached the place she sat on the bench that had been put there in memory of her three friends and the waitress. ‘Hey guys,’ she whispered, ‘we got him, he’s never coming out, and he’ll rot in there where he belongs for what he did to you.’ A single tear rolled down her cheek as she continued, ‘I’m sorry that I haven’t been here in a while but I moved to New York nearly two years ago, just like I always wanted, and when I came back about I month ago I couldn’t bring myself to come here until now. I wish you were still here; life has never been the same since you left all those years ago- I haven’t been the same! I wish you were here to meet Danny, you’d love him. He’s a bit cocky but is nice when he wants to be.’ Lindsay laughed, ‘I think you lot might have something to say about him calling me Montana though! I have a feeling that I won’t be coming back to Montana much more. I have a new life in New York and Mac, Stella, Hawkes, Adam, Sid and Danny are my family now. I miss Montana don’t get me wrong but I don’t think it’s home anymore. I want to be happy and live a life for all of us- it’s the only thing that I can do for you. I miss you guys.’ Lindsay stopped talking and sat there in silence for an hour just staring at the four headstones when she felt Danny sit next to her, ‘You ok, Montana?’

‘Yeh, I’m just thinking about the good times and what it was like growing up with my three best friends.’ Lindsay said not taking her eyes off the stones when suddenly she stood up, ‘Come on Danny lets go back.’ Danny stood and they started to walk towards the car when he felt her stop he turned around. ‘I know that you are always watching over me guys, see you soon, I will be back one day- I promise.’ Lindsay started to walk towards Danny and as they walked towards the car he wrapped a protective arm around her shoulders.

Ok, I had the urge to dig up my old fic today and am currently writing the update...I'm sure it wont be long but I hope you like it :D I needed to write some 'happy stuff' after reading/updating my other fic!

EDIT: Ok here we go :D

They got in the truck, Danny driving, and headed away from the graveyard. Lindsay turned in her seat watching the distant graves disappear from view.

After five minutes of silence Danny spoke, ‘You ok Montana?’

She turned around and nodded, ‘yep,’ Lindsay smiled, ‘yep I think I finally am. All these years I’ve had like this shadow of the past that went with me everywhere! But I suddenly feel alive, seeing Daniel Cadence being taken away today I sort of said goodbye to it all! And just then, at the grave yard, I realised it was time to finally say goodbye to my friends and that’s what I did. I’m finally happy and I know that they understand. And you know what? I don’t think I’ll be taking the trip down this road for a very long time. It’s time to move on and I plan to have as much fun as possible starting with these two weeks!’

Danny laughed at Lindsay’s sudden change and her face made him light up, ‘So Miss Monroe, where do you wanna go first?’

‘I want ice cream, Tommy’s ice-cream!’ Lindsay said with a huge grin.

‘Ice cream it is!’ Danny said as Lindsay turned up the radio and they sped up in the direction of ‘Tommy’s’

20 minutes later Danny and Lindsay were seated in the small ice-cream café that was situated on the outskirts of Bozeman. Both were eating large sundaes topped with whipped cream, strawberry sauce, sprinkles and chocolate flake.

‘So Montana, what’s this pinky coloured ice-cream?’

‘That is Tommy’s speciality! It’s sort of an orangy taste and those little strawberry bits make your tongue tingle and mouth water!’

‘Well I can certainly say that it makes your tongue tingle!’ Danny said as he dug further into his ice-cream. Two seconds later he jumped as something cold hit him in the forehead and slid down his face. He looked up to see Lindsay giggling, ‘What was that for Montana?’ That made Lindsay laugh even harder so Danny took aim and fired hitting Lindsay square between the eyes.

Before Lindsay could get another scoop of ice-cream Danny stole her spoon leaving her only one option. She stood up and poured the rest of her ice-cream onto his head. Danny squirmed as he felt the cold liquid go down the back of his neck as Lindsay ran out of the café into the rain. Danny dropped a few bills on the table and ran after her past Tommy the old owner who only laughed at the young people and went to clean up their mess.

Outside Lindsay had ran across the road to a bus shelter and was still laughing as Danny ran up and began to tickle her, ‘You think that was funny eh?’ Danny said between his own laughter. They collapsed by the wall of the shelter and tried to recover from their uncontrollable laughter.

‘That was fun!’ Lindsay said as she turned to look at Danny.

‘Oh yeh? You’re not the one with ice-cream all over them!’

‘Come on then let’s get rid of it!’ Danny looked at her confused as Lindsay stood up and headed out from underneath the shelter into the pouring rain.

‘Montana, what are ‘ya doing, you’re gonna get soaked?’

‘So! Come on Danny since when has a little bit of ran hurt anyone.’

Danny could hardly call it a bit of rain but ran out and joined her where they began to dance and sing.

And that’s when it happened. At the same time they leaned in towards each other and as their lips met they ignited a fire. This kiss was not like their previous outside the court house but was full of hunger and passion. After what seemed like a life time their need for oxygen became too much and they pulled apart. Danny rested his forehead on Lindsay’s and wiped her soaking wet hair out of her face, ‘That…was…’

‘Amazing…’ Danny nodded as they tried to get their breath back. ‘I’m not gonna disappear this time Danny, I promise.’

‘I know,’ Danny said as he kissed her sweetly on the lips, ‘Lets go!’ He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and they headed back to the truck.
