'CSI' Movie Is Put On The Backburner; 'NY' Gets A Make-Over

CSI Files

Captain
CSI creator Anthony Zuiker recently revealed he would like to see the popular television series hit the big screen (news). But his plans, he admitted, have been put on halt.

"We have joked about a movie involving all three CSIs, but I don't know," he told Calgary Sun. "I originally spoke to (executive producer) Jerry Bruckheimer about that, but he feels it's not the right time."

But that doesn't necessarily mean bad news for Zuiker, seeing as the movie postponement will give him the time needed to re-design the set of CSI: New York, his latest project. New York was originally criticized for its dark undertones, a mistake Zuiker recognized and fixed immediately, and will continue to fix during the summer hiatus. "In television, you don't know what you've got until you know what you've got," he admitted. "What we've got is very gritty and it's not working. We're going to lighten it up to get people to come back."

Zuiker originally intended for New York to focus on the darker stories of the famous city in an attempt to set it aside from all the other New York based shows. Nothing reflected the show's darkness more than the set, which Zuiker unveiled will go through a massive renovation. "The mistake we made was having no windows -- there has been too much of the underbelly of New York shown ... we're going to be in a high-rise with views of the city and we're going to tell lighter stories that could only be told in New York."

The news come with hopes that neither Mac nor any of his CSIs suffer from acrophobia or vertigo, as Zuiker plans to make the New York gang hit the elevators in order to process the evidence. "There will be no more basement labs for the show," Zuiker told Variety. "The labs and sets will take place in a vertical city, 35 or 40 stories up."

Re: 'CSI' Movie Is Put In The Backburner; 'NY' Gets A Make-O

How are the writers going to explain the sudden change in location for the NY crime lab?

Re: 'CSI' Movie Is Put In The Backburner; 'NY' Gets A Make-O

That's a good question. Maybe the old building had asbestos or was torn down or something. Or maybe it'll be one of those mistakes they'll never mention again, like Megan Donner.

Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe CSI lab in the sky.
Moo-oovin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

I can smell a pivotal first episode to explain the lab change. Kinda like "Lost Son" in Miami. Start the new season with a bang! Besides, that will also get more viewers back to see the new changes.

Are you thinking.. explosion? :p I hope not, that's more CSI: Miami's style.

Re: 'CSI' Movie Is Put In The Backburner; 'NY' Gets A Make-O

Yes, Ivory. LOL, or if no explosion, fire in the swamplands.

Re: 'CSI' Movie Is Put In The Backburner; 'NY' Gets A Make-O

No, not an explosion, but something big to catch our attention. You're right though, the explosions are more of Miami's style. Maybe a case of bad weather?? I dunno.
