CSI: DuCaine - Horatio/Calleigh scenes

EmeraldEyes06

Lab Technician
I have been on a major hiatus during my exams the last year, but this Summer my muse returned to me. :) And so, here is a brand new DuCaine fanfic for y'all.

Here's a synopsis:
Calleigh and Faye Collins(You might remember her as the girl who saw the 'rocking Hummer' and freaked out!) investigate the murder of a young woman found dead in her home. However, the evidence leads down a dark and dangerous path to a very familiar face. Faye is forced to make a difficult choice that could change lives forever. This has 'personal' written all over it.

I hope you enjoy. It's rather long with 2 posts so bring some snacks. :guffaw:please comment and tell me what you think. There will be a sequel which I will post at the weekend. Just tweaking a few small things.

HORATIO: Time of death, Alexx?

ALEXX: Just checking it now, Horatio.

(She inserts the thermometor into the woman's
side, checking her liver temperature.)

ALEXX: Liver temp is cooler by 13 degrees.
Puts her death at 11 p.m last night.
(Horatio looks on for a moment.)

HORATIO: To be attacked in your own home,
the place where you're most secure...

ALEXX: That wasn't the case for you, was it,
honey?

HORATIO: Cause of death, please?

(Alexx examines her neck.)

ALEXX: Appears to be strangulation. Major
bruising on her neck. Doesn't look like a
ligature mark though.

(Horatio moves closer, looking at the bruising.)

HORATIO: Killer may have used his hands...

White flash to:
(Woman being choked violently.)

ALEXX: She died with her eyes open. She must
have been terrified and screamed for help...

HORATIO: And someone... wanted to silence her
for good.

(ROLL CREDITS)

Fade in:
(Shot of Miami.)

Cut to
[EXT. - CONDO - MORNING]

Cut to:
(Calleigh walking through the crowd, kit in hand.

Faye Collins accompanies her.

This is Faye's first time in the field.)

Cut to:
(Close-up of Faye's face.

She is completely serious.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh looking at her.)

CALLEIGH: You okay?

Cut to:
(Faye 'snapping out' of her trance.)

FAYE: Pardon? Oh, I'm okay, thanks Calleigh.
Just getting in the zone. This is my 'serious'
face, but inside I'm a bit nervous...

CALLEIGH: (smiling) Don't worry, you'll be fine.
Just follow the evidence, and listen to it, just
like we taught you.

(Faye nods, taking in a breath.)

FAYE: Okay... the evidence never lies...

Cut to:
(Shot of Calleigh and Faye from behind as
they duck below the tape.

Frank Tripp meets them.)
TRIPP: Hey, Calleigh... Faye? Never knew you
were in the field.

FAYE: I'm brand new, shiny in fact. This is my
first scene...

(She looks to Calleigh, who gives her a nod.)

FAYE: ... So what do we have, Frank?

(Frank pauses, giving Faye an encouraging smile,
before reading out his notes.)

FRANK: Vic's name is Sheena West, 24. She was
a Miami native, and worked as a waitress and a
dancer at the Cameo nightclub.

CALLEIGH: Who reported it?

TRIPP: Sheena worked the dayshift at the club
Tuesdays and Thursdays, and when she didn't
show up, her manager called and discovered her.

Cut to:
(Faye listening intently.

The three of them are now in the hallway.

As Frank continues to fill them in, Faye looks at
the door.

The camera zooms in on the door handle.)

FAYE: Was the door unlocked?

TRIPP: Yeah. The manager found it slightly open
and let himself in. He was surprised to find it
unlocked at that hour.

FAYE: So if there are no signs of forced entry,
than the killer may have been a guest...

(She stops, looking over at Calleigh and Tripp.

Both their faces are the picture of attention.

Faye blushes.)

FAYE: Umm, right?

Cut to:
(Calleigh smiling.)

CALLEIGH: Good job, Faye. You put the evidence
in context. That's a really good start.

(Faye smiles, but switches back to analytical in
an instant.)

FAYE: Where did you find Ms. West.?

TRIPP: Upstairs in the bedroom. Follow me...

(The girls follow Frank upstairs.
Calleigh has a look of pride, and Faye's cheeks are
still glowing.)

Cut to:
(Bedroom interior as they enter.
Faye walks slower than Calleigh, her eyes fixed on
the victim on the gurney, ready to be taken away
by Alexx's team.

She puts down her kit, stopping for a moment.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh snapping on her gloves, looking over at
Faye.)

CALLEIGH: Faye... you alright?

Cut to:
(Faye nodding slowly.)

FAYE: Yeah... sorry, I just needed a second.

(Calleigh nods.)

CALLEIGH: It's hard the first time. But always
remember that we are the ones who will be
able to find who did this to her. We are her
voice.

(Faye nods, bending down to put on her gloves.)

FAYE: Okay, Calleigh. You're right. Let's nail this
guy.

(Both of them focus on the scene.)

Cut to:
(The team wheeling out Sheena.

Her hands lie still across her chest.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh shining her maglight around the room.)

Cut to:
(Faye kneeling down to sweep her light across
the floor.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh leaning close to the pillow.)

White flash to:
(Several dark hairs on the pillow case.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh collecting the hairs with tweezers.)

CALLEIGH: Got some hairs that don't match our
vic. We have the killer's DNA.

Cut to:
(Faye looking under the bed.)

FAYE: You know about diamonds being a girl's
best friend? Well DNA is a CSI's best friend.

Cut to:
(Faye's maglight illuminating a cellpone under
the bed.)

Cut to:
(Faye picking it up.)

FAYE: Calleigh, look... a cellphone.

CALLEIGH: Nice catch. We can track the perp
through her phone records.

FAYE: I'll get on it when we get back to the
lab.

(She bags the phone.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh lifting up the bedspread.)

White flash to:
(Calleigh switching on the ALS and sweeping it
across the sheets.

There are several large stains.)

FAYE: Someone got lucky.

CALLEIGH: And so did we.

(She looks at Faye.)

CALLEIGH: Care to do the honours?

(Faye retrieves her kit and pulls out a Q-tip.)

FAYE: My first swab, very exciting.
(She swabs the stain slowly.)
FAYE: I'm thinking that these stains are a
mixture of his and her DNA...
CALLEIGH: So take several, just to be safe.
We can seperate them at the lab. And the
more DNA evidence we have linking our killer
to the crime scene, the stronger our case
will be.

FAYE: Where there's a will, there's a way,
so swab it.

Cut to:
(Faye sealing the swabs.)

FAYE: Off you go for a ride on the thermocycler.

Cut to:
(Calleigh standing by the small table by the
window.)

Cut to:
(Shot of glasses on the table.)

Cut to:
(Faye walking over.)

FAYE: Drinks for two. Question is, which one's
which?

CALLEIGH: Take a look at this.
(She lifts up one glass, holding it up to the light
to see the lip-print.)

CALLEIGH: You see that?

Cut to:
(Close-up of glitter on the lip-print.)
FAYE: Lip-gloss.

CALLEIGH: Mmhmm... so that leaves number
two.

(She dusts the other glass for prints.)

FAYE: Smells like Tequila... our couple's little
fiesta might have turned pear-shaped...

CALLEIGH: It's a theory, but we won't know
for sure until Sheena's body gives us some
answers.

(Faye looks away for a minute, thinking to
herself.

She shuts her eyes.)

FAYE: How am I doing so far?

CALLEIGH: Really well. I'm proud of you.

FAYE: Thanks, Calleigh.

(They continue to process in silence.)

Cut to:
(Shot of the crime-lab.)

Cut to:
[INT. LAB - MORNING]

Cut to:
[INT. - MORGUE - MORNING]

Cut to:
(Alexx finishing up the post on Sheena.

The door opens, and Calleigh and Faye
walk in.)

CALLEIGH: Hey, Alexx. Is that our girl?

ALEXX: Just finished, Cal... hey, Faye.

Cut to:
(Faye giving Alexx a smile, before her eyes
flick briefly to Sheena on the table.)

FAYE: Morning, Dr. Woods... umm... so what
caused our vic's asphyxiation? What strangled
her?

ALEXX: First off, sugar, you can call me Alexx.
We're all friends here. I examined the bruises
on her neck, and they were consistent with
a strong chokehold...

White flash to:
(Hnads wrapped around Sheena's throat.)
ALEXX: (v.o) There was a great deal of force
applied, so much it snapped her trachea and
crushed her larynx. Pitichial haemorraging
around the eyes...

Cut to:
(Close-up of Sheena's eyes, bloodshot.)

ALEXX: Indicates that she died of acute
asphxiation.

CALLEIGH: We found evidence that Sheena
was drinking, glass found at the scene with
traces of Tequila. What was her blood alcohol
level?

ALEXX: I put a rush on tox for you. Came back
positive for alcohol, but it wasn't terribly high.
She wasn't rendered defenseless...

FAYE: Which means she may have been near-
cognizant enough to fight back. Anything else,
Doctor... I mean, Alexx?

(Alexx smiles.)

ALEXX: Yes.

(She lifts up Sheena's hand.)

ALEXX: Found skin under her fingernails, and
evidence of sexual activity. Ran a rape kit too,
but as far as I could see, it was consensual.

Cut to:
(Faye punching the air.)

FAYE: Strike two and three for the perp. His
DNA's in the bag.

CALLEIGH: That's right. We'll get those scrapings
and the semen sample to DNA. Thank you, Alexx.

ALEXX: Anytime, girls.

Cut to:
[INT. - LAB - MORNING]

Cut to:
(Horatio stepping out of the elevator,
meeting Frank.)

HORATIO: Frank... anything new on the
West girl?

TRIPP: Yeah, H... she was working last night
at the 'Cameo' nightclub. Employee records
show she clocked out at 9:45. No one saw
her after that.

HORATIO: Bit early to leave the nightshift,
isn't it?

TRIPP: That's what I thought. Martin, her
manager, thought nothing of it. She was a
great worker, according to him.

HORATIO: 'She was' being the keywords
here. Let's pay that club a visit...

Cut to:
[EXT. - CAMEO - MORNING]

Cut to:
(Shot of bartender at the bar, wiping down
the countertop.)

TRIPP: Enrique Marquez?

(Enrique looks up to see Tripp standing there.

Horatio is behind him.)

ENRIQUE: That's me. Who wants to know?

TRIPP: Miami-Dade P.D, we've got some
questions for you. Were you working here
last night?

ENRIQUE: Yeah, I was. I prefer the night-life,
brings out an interesting crowd. What of it?

TRIPP: You didn't happen to see Sheena West
around, did you?

(Enrique gives a loud laugh.

Tripp frowns. Horatio raises his eyebrows.)

ENRIQUE: Dude, you'd have to be blind not to
see her! She's banging, a real hot tamale! Great
dancer, great body... hey, I don't spy on her
or anything. I just watch her dance along with
half the male population of Miami, and after that,
it's business as usual. She'd pass me now and I
wouldn't see her...

HORATIO: That's unfortunate... because she
left here last night and was found dead this
morning.

Cut to:
(Enrique dropping the glass he was holding.)

ENRIQUE: Oh my God... Sheena's dead? No,
I can't believe... Jesus, I...

TRIPP: Let's try that last question again:
did you see her last night?

(Enrique swallows.)

ENRIQUE: Umm... she was dancing for most
of the night, but when she wasn't, she kept
hanging with this dude.

HORATIO: Did you get a look at him?

ENRIQUE: Aw, man, it was dark in here, and
then you had all the strobe lights and crap...
He had, uhh... dark hair... black, spiky...
looked all shiny with hair-gel.

HORATIO: That sounds like a good look.

ENRIQUE: His head was shining with that stuff!
I'm surprised Sheena's hands weren't covered
in that junk! Why would a man use product
anyway? No thank you! I'm sure I saw him and
Sheena leave together, but I'm not one hundred
per cent...

TRIPP: You got security cameras here?

ENRIQUE: Yeah, we do. One in each corner
of the club, one round the back in the alley,
and one out front at the entrance. Guys and
chicks come out here in their bling, this place
is prey for burglaries.

HORATIO: I'm going to need all the tapes from
last night.

ENRIQUE: Sure man, anything to help catch
that bastard. Sheena was the most gorgeaus,
genuine woman... give me 5 minutes with that
punk...

TRIPP: Uhh... thanks for your time.

(He turns to Horatio.)

TRIPP: What do you think?

HORATIO: I'm thinking that our killer got himself
caught off-guard, and hopefully... caught on
camera.

Fade in:
[INT. - LAB - AFTERNOON]

Cut to:
(Faye extracting DNA from the hairs, semen
and skin cell samples.

She compares them, each matching up.

She runs the DNA through CODIS.)

FAYE: Come on, hit...

(The screen lights up with 'No matches found'.

Faye sighs.)

Cut to:
(Faye walking out of the lab to get some air.

She meets Calleigh.)

FAYE: Hey, Calleigh. I ran DNA just there, found
no matches in CODIS.

CALLEIGH: Hmm, he may not be a prior offender.
Don't worry.

FAYE: Okay, I'm just going to process that
cellphone.

CALLEIGH: Alright, I'm going to start going
through the 'Cameo' security tapes, see you
later.

Cut to:
(Faye entering the lab.

She takes out the phone, and dusts it lightly.

Two distinct fingerprints are revealed.

Faye photographs them.)

White flash to:
(Faye comparing the prints to Sheena's 10
card.)

FAYE: The first one is hers... so that means
the second is the killer's... but why did he
touch it? Or why did she? I need to find out
whose cellphone this is...

Cut to:
(Faye bringing the phone to fellow lab tech,
John Phillips.)

FAYE: Hey, John.

(He turns and smiles when he sees her.)
JOHN PHILLIPS: Hey there, Miss Field-Mouse
Faye.

(Faye laughs.)

FAYE: Don't worry, I'll always be a lab-tech
at heart.

(John smiles again.)

JOHN PHILLIPS: What do you have for me?

FAYE: A cell-phone recovered from the scene.
It looks like it was thrown, the screen's cracked.
Can you do anything with it?

(John takes the phone from her, examining it.)

JOHN: You're right, it was broken badly, but I
can take out the SIM card and examine that
and its internal circuits as well. What do you
need?

FAYE: I need you to trace this phone back
to its owner. I've lifted two sets of prints,
one matches the victim, the other possibly
the killer. I need the phone records as well
to track our mystery man.

JOHN PHILLIPS: No problem, Faye. I'll get
back to you. You're on my speed-dial.

FAYE: Thanks, John. You're a star.

(She leaves.)

Cut to:
(John disassembling the phone, taking out
the SIM card.

He enters some digits into the computor.

The computor beings to search.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh in the AV lab, watching the 'Cameo'
security tapes.

She makes notes every few seconds,
occasionally pausing and rewinding the tape.)

Cut to:
(Faye coming in and sitting beside her.)

FAYE: And me forgetting to bring popcorn.

(Calleigh grins.)

CALLEIGH: As riveting as these tapes are, I've
only caught a few glimpses of Sheena with our
mystery man...

(She pauses the tape and points to the screen.)

CALLEIGH: See... his back's turned most of the
time.

FAYE: Do you think he's focused on Sheena or
just camera shy?

CALLEIGH: Could be both... physical description
matches the bartender's statement. Dark hair,
spiked...

FAYE: Sharp dresser too.

(Calleigh runs the tape forwards a few frames.

The man and Sheena stay at the bar.)
FAYE: He bought her a few drinks. He wasn't
short of cash.

CALLEIGH: Which could rule out robbery as a
motive.

(Faye leans back in the chair.)

FAYE: We have so much evidence on this guy.
We have him on the tapes, and we still don't
know who he is. He's either very careful...

Cut to:
(Freeze-frame of the man's back to the camera,
Sheena's arms around him.)

FAYE: Or very, very smart.

CALLEIGH: Even the most clever killer can't
escape Loucard...

FAYE: And he'll leave something behind.

(They look at each other.)

Cut to:
[INT. - LAB - AFTERNOON]

Cut to:
(Break-room.)

Cut to:
(Faye sipping coffe and reviewing the notes
on the security tapes.

She taps her fingers on the coffee mug, deep
in thought.

She turns in her chair as John Phillips comes in,
holding some sheets.)

FAYE: Hey, John! Anything from the cellphone?

(John pauses, fiddling with the pages.

Faye frowns.)

FAYE: What's wrong?

JOHN: I, uhh... managed to trace the serial
number of the cellphone SIM card to the person
who purchased it... and here's the owner...

(He hands Faye the printout.

She reads it.)

Cut to:
(Her eyes widening in shock.

She looks up at John.)

FAYE: Have you showed this to anyone else?

JOHN: No, just you... I didn't think, I...

FAYE: It's okay... leave this with me...
thanks, John.

(He nods, leaving.)

Cut to:
(Faye sitting back down, still holding the
page.)

Cut to:
(Close-up of her eyes re-reading the words.

She presses her lips together.)

Cut to:
(Her hands shaking as she sets the page down.

She puts her hand to her forehead.)

Cut to:
(Shot of the page on the table.)

Cut to:
(Close-up of words, panning left to right:

'Cell-phone traced to:
Jake Berkley'.)

Cut to:
(Faye sitting back, staring at the ceiling,
closing her eyes.)

White flash to:
(Faye walking through the lab slowly,
holding her notes and the cell-phone
printout.

She looks up slowly.)

Cut to:
(Wide shot of Horatio's office.)

Cut back to:
(Faye taking a deep breath.)

Cut to:
(Shot of Faye knocking on the door.)

HORATIO: Come in...

(Faye peeks her head round the door.

Horatio looks up from his desk with a
smile.)

HORATIO: Faye, please come in. Have a
seat.

(She shuts the door behind her, and walks
towards Horatio's desk.

She sits down opposite him slowly.)

HORATIO: So what can I do for you?

(Faye looks at Horatio almost fearfully.

Her right foot taps a little on the ground.)

FAYE: Umm... I'm working the Sheena West
case, sir... and I... I have been processing
the evidence recovered at the scene,
including a cell-phone.

(She pauses.

Horatio regards her quietly.)
FAYE: I, uhh... asked John Phillips to trace
the phone back to its owner, as it may belong
to the killer, and...

(She drops her eyes, her hands fumbling with
the pages, her right foot starting to hop.)

FAYE: Sir, I didn't know what to do, I... I
need your help.

HORATIO: What is it, Faye? What did you find?

(Faye takes a breath, looking up at Horatio
again.

She picks up the page with a trembling hand.)

FAYE: The phone... it belongs to...

(She hands it to Horatio.)

FAYE: ... Detective Berkley.

(Horatio reads the page.

There is a long beat.)

FAYE: Sir?

(Horatio gets up.)

HORATIO: Where did you find the cell-phone?

FAYE: Under the bed, sir. I recovered two
fingerprints as well. One belonged to Sheena,
the other...

HORATIO: This is a case for Internal Affairs.
I'll have to...

(He stops, frowning.

He turns to Faye again.)

HORATIO: Faye, why did you come to me?
Aren't you working on this case with Calleigh?
She has as much authority as I do...

(Faye's eyes widen.

She lowers her eyes quickly.)

FAYE: I... I don't know... I couldn't find her,
so...

(Horatio takes a step towards her, looking stern.)

HORATIO: (firmly) Faye, you could have paged
her, or called her.

(Faye shuts her eyes.)
HORATIO: Is there a reason why you wouldn't
tell Calleigh about this? I'm aware that Calleigh
and Detective Berkley know each other, but
she is professional enough not to become
emotionally involved...

(Faye bits her lip.)

HORATIO: Faye... is there something you need
to tell me? I need all the facts, all the details
to understand this case.

(A beat.)

HORATIO: Is it something to do with Calleigh?

FAYE: Sir... it's not my place to...
HORATIO: When it has to do with a murder
investigation, it is your job to find justice
regardless of your opinion.

(A pause.

Faye stares at her hands.

Horatio sits on the desk in front of her,
leaning towards her slightly.)

HORATIO: (gently) Tell me.
(Faye's eyes fill with tears.)
FAYE: Sir... Horatio... I... I have reason to
believe that Calleigh... and Detective Berkley...
may be... may be involved.

Cut to:
(Horatio still sitting on his desk.

His eyes hold a hint of shock, just concealed.

He stands, turning away from Faye, leaning
over his desk now.)
HORATIO: You did the right thing coming to
me, Faye. It would have been too risky...

FAYE: I didn't know what to do. I couldn't
tell her... she and him... I saw them in the
lab a few months back... I didn't mean to
eavesdrop, but they were talking and then
he kissed her and...

(She claps her hands over her mouth.)

Cut to:
(Horatio turning sharply to face her,

There is no disguising the shock this time.)

HORATIO: What?

(Faye is trembling, almost crying.)

FAYE: He... he had no regard for who would
see them... I should've said something ages
ago... I'm so sorry, sir.

(Horatio turns from her again.

Faye stands, looking at him quietly.)

HORATIO: (under his breath) How could I not
have seen? When did she... Calleigh... why?

(He takes in a breath.)

HORATIO: What evidence have you collected
so far?

FAYE: Sir?

HORATIO: Tell me...

FAYE: Okay... we found dark hairs that didn't
match Sheena's hair, prints on a drinking glass,
semen swabs from the bed, semen sample
found in Sheena's vaginal canal, skin under
her fingernails, the cell-phone, a print from
the cell-phone... and John Phillips traced
the phone to Detective Berkley.

HORATIO: What is the evidence telling you?

FAYE: Umm... that Sheena's killer has dark
hair... they slept together... she scratched
him...

HORATIO: What else?

(Faye exhales shakily.)

FAYE: And... the evidence tells me that...
Jake Berkley... is a suspect.

(Horatio faces her.)

HORATIO: Okay... here's what we're going to do.
Whatever you find from now on you report to me...

FAYE: Yes, sir.
HORATIO: I'm going to bring in Detective Berkley
for questioning... I want you to keep this quiet
if you can.

FAYE: Yes, sir. This is all new to me.

HORATIO: You're doing fine. I know this is a lot
to take in on your first case...

FAYE: I've been well taught, sir. But Horatio...
what about Calleigh?

Cut to:

(Horatio pausing a moment, a brief shadow
passing over his face.)

HORATIO: Keep her in the dark... for now.

(He leaves.

Faye grips her hands, still shaking a little.)

Cut to:
(Wide shot of Miami.)

Cut to:
(Faye walking back to the lab.

Calleigh comes out of the elevators behind her.)

CALLEIGH: Faye! Anything on the cell-phone?

(Faye stiffens slightly on hearing Calleigh's voice.

She turns around slowly, fixing a smile on her
face.)
FAYE: Umm... John's really backed up right now.
He said he was going to pull the cell-phone's call
history and try to trace the phone's serial number
to its owner. He's busy, but he's trying his best.

CALLEIGH: That's alright. Things are pretty hectic
at the moment.

(Faye smiles, albeit sadly.)
FAYE: I, uhh... was looking over the notes on the
tapes, and our suspect was talking to a lot of
people, including several other dancers. Should
we interview them?

CALLEIGH: Good idea. You want to head over
with Frank?

FAYE: I... I have to log in the swabs from
Sheena's bed and seperate the DNA.

CALLEIGH: Okay, you do what you have to do.
I'll go. Catch you later.

FAYE: Bye.

(Faye watches Calleigh go, and walks into the lab.)

Cut to:
(Continuous shot of Faye processing the swabs from
Sheena's bed.

She seperates the DNA, producing two sets of DNA.
She compares the first sample to Sheena's DNA, and
the second to the hair and semen samples.

They match perfectly.

Faye smiles to herself.

Her cell-phone gives a ring.)

FAYE: Collins... yes... alright... will I bring the
cell-phone? Okay... yes, sir... I'll be there in
5 minutes. Thanks, sir.
(She clicks off.)

FAYE: Here we go.

White flash to:

(P.D entrance as Jake Berkely pulls up.

He walks up the steps and enters through the
front door.)

Short-time jump to:
[INT. - P.D - AFTERNOON]

Cut to:
(Jake Berkley sitting in interrogation.

Camera pans back from him as Faye and Horatio
stand outside the interview room.

Faye raises her left hand.)

FAYE: Look at me, I'm shaking.

HORATIO: It's okay, just focus on finding the truth...
focus on the evidence, and don't let the nerves win.

(Faye swallows.)

FAYE: Okay.

Cut to:
(Side shot as she opens the door and enters the
interrogation room.)

Cut to:
(Shot of Jake Berkley leaning back in his chair,
watching Faye take her seat across from him.)

FAYE: Mr. Berkley...

JAKE: And to whom to I owe this pleasure?

(Faye looks up from her pages, giving a half-
smile.)

FAYE: Faye... but since we're not on first
name terms...

JAKE: Alright then. You can call me Detective,
Detective.

(Faye looks down, giving no immediate answer.)

FAYE: I just have a few questions, Detective...

JAKE: Now you're talking.

(Faye sits forward, clasping her hands
together.)

FAYE: First off; where were you between 9
and 11 last night?

Cut to:
(Jake looking to his left, before looking at Faye
again.)

JAKE: What has that got to do with anything?

Cut to:
(Faye smiling coldly.)

FAYE: How about I ask the questions, Detective?
And I'd appreciate an answer.

(Jake gives her shrug.)
JAKE: I was at a club all night. Partied, had a few
beers. Since when was my social life a concern to
a CSI?

Cut to:
(Faye taking out a photo from her file.)
FAYE: It's my concern when a woman turns up
dead.

Cut to:
(Photo of Sheena West on the morgue-table.)

Cut to:
(Jake flinching.)

FAYE: Look familiar?

(Jake looks up.)

JAKE: I might've seen her... might've been 10
or something...

FAYE: Then you may have been the last person
to see her alive.

JAKE: Wait a minute! Are you saying I'm a suspect?

FAYE: I'm not saying anything, Mr. Berkley. I'm
simply looking for answers, and here's my next
question.

(She holds up the cell-phone in the evidence bag.)

FAYE: How did your cell-phone end up under
Sheena's bed? And don't lie and say it isn't
yours, because we traced the serial number
back to the one who purchased it. This phone
is registered to you.

Cut to:
(Shot of cell-phone as Jake looks at it.

Focus in on him as he shrugs carelessly.)

JAKE: Must've dropped it, slipped my mind.

FAYE: Nice phone like this? I'm surprised you
didn't realise it was missing.

JAKE: Listen, I'll admit I was with her last night.
We met at the club and she was all over me.
By the end of the night, she was drunk, I was
drunk. She took me home and offered me a drink.
Just two consenting adults having a private
encounter. No law against sex.

FAYE: But there is against murder, I'm sure you
know that.

JAKE: Look, Faye, was it? I was at her house,
sue me. Not my fault she wound up dead.

(Faye fixes him with a look.)

FAYE: You sure about that?

JAKE: Yeah, positive.

FAYE: Then you won't mind if I take a DNA sample,
a hair sample and your fingerprints to rule you out
then, will you?

(Jake smirks.)

JAKE: I know my rights, sweetie, and I have a right
to know whether or not that swab is going to
incriminate me in this or not. And for that matter,
I don't want ink on my hands.

FAYE: Process of elimination, Mr. Berkley. You
want to be cleared, right? And ink is better than
blood, right?
JAKE: Yeah... but I'm going to ask for a warrant
before I give you anything, and before you stick
that swab in my mouth or fill out your little 10-
card.

Cut to:
(Faye unfolding her hands, her cheeks colouring
with embarassement.

She looks down and to her right.)

Cut to:

(Horatio watching her.)

Cut to:
(Faye looking at Jake.)

FAYE: Could you... excuse me for a minute?

Cut to:
(Jake giving a dip of his head, gesturing
towards the door.)

Cut to:
(Faye getting up and leaving.)

Cut back to:
(Jake watching her.)

Cut to:
(Faye walking out of the interview room and
over to Horatio.

She puts her face in her hands.)

FAYE: Oh my God...

HORATIO: What's wrong? You're doing well.

FAYE: No I'm not, sir.

(She lowers her hands.)
FAYE: Those eyes... they're so cold... Outwardly
I'm fine but inside I'm crying for help. Sir, I had
no idea you needed a warrant for a DNA sample,
or any kind of sample.

HORATIO: Did he say that?

(Faye nods.)

HORATIO: Legally, he is permitted to request a
warrant, Faye, but if he wishes to co-operate
and save face in the investigation, he shouldn't
ask for a warrant, unless he's hiding something.
And if a suspect knows the reason for the sample,
the warrant isn't needed then.

FAYE: I had a feeling... I heard Eric talking about
it once... I wasn't sure and he threw me.

HORATIO: It's your first interview, no worries.
Always trust your instincts, be confident, and
don't let them unbalance you. That's what they
want to happen, and then they'll know your
weakness.

FAYE: Right, sir. Umm... should I go back in
and tell him... but I'm not sure if...

HORATIO: I'll come in with you, okay? I'll let
him know about the case and let him know
that there is no need for a warrant.

FAYE: Okay. Thank you, Horatio.

HORATIO: You're welcome. Let's go get your
samples.

(They walk back into the room together.)

Cut to:
(Jake leaning back in his chair as they enter.)

JAKE: Lieutenant Caine, always a pleasure.

HORATIO: Detective Berkley...

FAYE: Detective, I have consulted with my
supervisor, Lieutenant Caine, on the subject
of the warrant...

HORATIO: And we have agreed to tell you
why we require your DNA and so forth. We
have uncovered a great deal of trace evidence
during this investigation, and need to eliminate
suspects. You were the last person to see
Sheena alive, as far as we know. You were
seen leaving the club together, so naturally
you are a suspect. So, in order for you to be
seen as being willing to help my CSIs, and to
show you have nothing to hide, your DNA,
prints and a hair sample would be most
helpful.

Cut to:
(Jake looking stoic.)

Cut to:
(Faye watching him, glancing at Horatio briefly.)

Cut back to:
(Jake drumming his fingers on the table.)

JAKE: Alright, Lieutenant, fine. If this rules me
out, I have no objection. Swab away...

HORATIO: Thank you for your co-operation,
Mr. Berkley. Faye...

(She nods, snapping on her gloves, and
retrieving a swab and tweezers.

She walks over to Jake.)

FAYE: Say 'aahh'...

(Jake opens his mouth, rolling his eyes.

Faye swabs inside.)

Slow dissolve to:
(Faye taking the tweezers, taking hold of a few
hairs and pulling.)

JAKE: Ow! Take it easy!

FAYE: No pain, no gain, I'm afraid.

Slow dissolve to:

(Faye fingerprinting Jake.)

FAYE: That wasn't so bad now, was it?

(Jake wipes his hands, rolling his eyes again.)

JAKE: Can I go now?

HORATIO: Yeah... but don't go far.
(Jake gets up, looking again at Horatio and
Faye before leaving.)

Cut to:
(Faye gathering her samples together and
closing up her kit.)

FAYE: I'll go and start comparing now, sir.

(Horatio gives no reply.)

FAYE: Sir?

Cut to:
(Horatio looking out the window.

He talks to himself rather than to Faye.)
HORATIO: Why didn't I realise it sooner? Why
did I let her...

(He turns to give Faye a small smile.)

HORATIO: Great job, Faye. You go and start
comparing now.

FAYE: Yes, sir.

(She leaves.)

Cut back to:
(Horatio staring out the window again.)

Cut to:
(Shot of the outside.)

Cut back to:
(Horatio watching from the window.)

Cut to:
(Shot of Calleigh walking towards the P.D
entrance, her back turned.

She stops, and turns around.

She looks straight at Horatio.)

Cut back to:
(Horatio seeing her, taking in a deep
breath.)

Cut back to:
(Wide shot of Calleigh, her hair blowing in
the breeze.

A woman walks in front of her, and Calleigh
disappears.)

Cut back to:

(Horatio lowering his head.)

HORATIO: Calleigh...

Fade in to:
[INT. LAB - AFTERNOON]

Cut to:
(Faye reading a print-out by herself.)

Cut to:
(Close-up of the words on the page:

'Semen sample #1': Positive match to
Det. Berkley.
'Semen sample #2': Positive match to
Det. Berkley.
'Hair sample': Positive match to Det.
Berkley.)

Cut to:
(Faye sighing to herself.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh walking into the lab.)

Cut to:
(Faye hiding the print-out.)

CALLEIGH: Hey, Faye.

FAYE: Hi, Cal. How did the canvas go
yesterday?

CALLEIGH: A lot of witnesses at the club
remember seeing a man with dark hair
dancing with Sheena the night of the
murder.

FAYE: Which supports our I.D on the
suspect.

CALLEIGH: Mmhmm... one woman remembered
that he had a scar on his upper lip, and
brown eyes.

FAYE: She got a good look, didn't she?
(Calleigh smiles.)

CALLEIGH: It's funny what people remember
when they see the badge.

(Faye laughs.)

CALLEIGH: Anyway... anything new on the
cell-phone?

FAYE: The SIM card was pretty damaged,
but John is tracking down the phone records
to pinpoint the suspect.

CALLEIGH: Okay. When we find this guy,
get a DNA sample and start comparing.

FAYE: Will do.

(Calleigh's phone rings.)

CALLEIGH: Oh! Excuse me, Faye.

(She answers it.)

CALLEIGH: Hello? Jake? Hi, I didn't recognise
the number... okay...

(She turns and leaves, smiling and laughing.)

Cut to:
(Faye watching her go sadly.)

Cut to:
(John Phillips coming in the other door.)

JOHN PHILLIPS: Faye?

FAYE: Hey, John. Those the cell-phone
records?

JOHN PHILLIPS: That's right.

FAYE: You look worried, what is it?

JOHN PHILLIPS: Look who called him last...

(Faye reads the sheet, her eyes widening.)

FAYE: I'd better find Horatio. Thanks John.

(She leaves.)

Short-time jump to:
(Horatio reading the sheet.)

FAYE Calleigh called him that night...
HORATIO: Yes... look at the time. 10:53
p.m.

FAYE: Minutes before Sheena's murder.
HORATIO: Hmmm... what does this mean in
the greater scheme of things?

FAYE: I recovered Sheena's fingerprint from
the phone, sir. Out of context, I didn't think
anything of it, but now with the call, I think
I can figure out why she touched the phone
in the first place... Mind if I run a theory by
you, sir?

HORATIO: Not at all...

(Faye starts pacing up and down.)

FAYE: Jake decides to go out on the town.
He meets Sheena, they have a few drinks,
and they dance.

White flash to:
(Jake and Sheena dancing.)

FAYE: (v.o) They leave the club together.
Sheena takes Jake home, things get wild
with some Tequila...

White flash to:
(Jake and Sheena leaving the club.)

Cut to:
(Sheena pulling up at her house with Jake
inside.)

Cut to:
(Tequila being poured into two glasses.)

White flash to:
(Jake kissing Sheena, falling on the bed.)

FAYE: At 10:53, Jake gets a call on his
cell-phone...

White flash to:
(Cell-phone screen lighting up, the tone
ringing out

The caller display reads 'Calleigh'.)
FAYE: Sheena gets to it first, and she sees
the caller I.D, and confronts Jake about
Calleigh...

White flash to:
(Sheena holding the phone and reading
the name.

She whirls on Jake.)
SHEENA: Who's Calleigh? Who is she?
Your girlfriend? What do you think you're
playing at? You son of a bitch!

FAYE: She starts hurling abuse, and may
have tried to call Calleigh back...

White flash to:
(Sheena pressing buttons, her thumb
finally resting on the 'Call' button.)

FAYE: Jake manages to grab the phone
back, throws her on the bed, and chokes
her as she tries to claw him off her.

White flash to:
(Jake leaning over Sheena, his hands
wrapped around her neck, Sheena
struggling to get free, scratching his
hands and chest.)

White flash to:
(Present.

Faye stands still.)
FAYE: Am I completely off the mark,
Horatio?

HORATIO: No... you just may have it, Faye.
That explains her fingerprint on the phone,
and the call furthers that theory. Nice job.

FAYE: Thank you. I've just finished comparing,
and they all match perfectly.

HORATIO: So let's bring back suspect number
one... Mr. Berkley.

Cut to:
(Shot of Miami.)

Cut to:
(Wide shot of the interview room as Jake sits
across from Faye and Horatio.)

Cut to:
(Side shot as Jake looks at the two of them.)

Cut to:
(Faye staring at Jake.

She looks to her right out of the corner of her
eye at Horatio.)

Cut to:
(Horatio staring straight at Jake.)

HORATIO: Mr. Berkley, you lied to us.

Cut to:
(Jake raising an eyebrow.)

JAKE: 'Scuse me? I don't think so.

FAYE: You told us about the club, and going
back to Sheena's place, but you left out a
few little details...

(She looks at Horatio.)

FAYE: May I, sir?

HORATIO: By all means...
FAYE: You've already admitted to having sex
with Sheena, that we already know. Semen
and hairs match your DNA. But there is one
more thing I want to know about...

Cut to:
(Faye taking out the DNA printout.)

FAYE: How did your skin end up under Sheena's
fingernails?

Cut to:
(Jake looking nonchalent.)
JAKE: So she wanted it rough? Not my fault she
was into S and M. She clawed my arm just to
get a rise.

FAYE: Really?

JAKE: Yeah...

(Faye looks at his arms.)

FAYE: I don't see any scratches...

JAKE: Probably faded away by now...

(Faye smiles.)

FAYE: Lift up your shirt please, Mr.
Berkley.

JAKE: What?

HORATIO: You heard her. Life up your
shirt.

(Jake looks defiant, but a look from Horatio
silences him.

He stands up, giving a second look to Faye.

He pulls out his shirt from his pants, and lifts
it to reveal several long scratches across his
chest.)

HORATIO: Those look painful.

JAKE: No prize for you, Sherlock.

FAYE: Question, Jake: was strangling part of
the game? Did she get a rise out of that too?

JAKE: You can twist this any way you want,
but you still can't prove I killed her. All you
can prove is that I slept with her. In terms of
likely motives for murder, you've got nothing
but air...

(Faye is about to speak, when Horatio steps
in.

She lets him.)

HORATIO: That's where you're wrong, Jake...

(He takes Faye's case folder, pulling out a
page.

He walks over to Jake.)
HORATIO: Last night, at approximately 10:53,
you received a phone call, which Sheena just
happened to stumble on...

(He reaches Jake's side, placing the page in
front of him on the table.)

HORATIO: Cell-phone records traced the call...
to Calleigh Duquesne.

(Jake looks long and hard at the page, his
face unreadable.)

HORATIO: Sheena saw the caller I.D, didn't
she? She started asking questions, demanding
to know who that was. That's how her fingerprint
ended up there... she put two and two together,
and came up with you and another woman...

(He leans closer now, his voice dropping and
becoming dangerously low.)
HORATIO: You and Calleigh...

(Jake blinks, pursing his lips.)

HORATIO: I know about your relationship with
Calleigh, and I am well aware that you are seeing
her... but answer me this, Jake...

(He turns slightly, getting into Jake's personal
space.

Jake looks up at him.)

HORATIO: What were you doing with Sheena
that night? And you being involved with Calleigh?
Could you clarify that for me, Detective? Because
right now, I don't know whether to be confused
or disgusted...

(Jake takes a breath.)

JAKE: Horatio... there comes a time in any
relationship when things become routine,
boring, and you need some excitement,
you know?

HORATIO: No, I don't, actually.

JAKE: Look, Calleigh's a babe, a real dish,
but she's so hell bent on maintaining all
this professionalism crap and not showing
affection at work. She works late, and I'm
left frustrated and horny. What the hell
am I supposed to do?
HORATIO: You... are supposed to respect
a woman enough not to cheat on her behind
her back.

JAKE: You don't know what it's like, Caine!
You don't have a damn clue!

FAYE: No Jake! You don't have a clue about
how to treat a woman. A real man would thank
his lucky stars to be in a committed relationship
with a woman like Calleigh. A real man who had
some decency and a backbone wouldn't go and
sleep with someone else. You thought you
could get away with it, by two-timing the both
of them, but it looks like Sheena caught you
with your pants down!

(Jake makes a lunge across the table towards
Faye, but Horatio grabs him.)

HORATIO: Settle down!
JAKE: She decided to make this personal by
dragging Calleigh into this.
FAYE: She was involved anyway... with you.
And this is about Sheena, Jake. Sheena, who's
lying in the morgue, dead.

(A beat.)

FAYE: Why did you kill her?

JAKE: I... I didn't want Cal finding out. It was
bad enough that I cheated on her in the
academy, and now again... I couldn't lose
her aain... I had to shut that bitch up!

FAYE: I'm afraid to tell you, Jake, that
you lost Calleigh the minute you
walked in Sheena's door... you lost her
the moment the two of you slept together...

HORATIO: And you lost Calleigh for good
when you killed Sheena.

(A long pause.
Jake looks down.)

JAKE: I'm not proud of what I did. I'm ashamed
of it all. I never wanted to hurt Calleigh. She's
great, you know. Beautiful, smart, everything...

FAYE: You know what they say: you don't know
what you got until it's gone.

HORATIO: And in your case, Jake, you'll never
know.

Cut to:
(Jake staring at them both.)

CUT TO:
[EXT. - P.D - EVENING]

Cut to:
(Calleigh pulling up in her car and getting out.)

Cut to:
(Front shot as she looks ahead towards the P.D,
her face going from neutral to shocked in an
instant.)

Cut to:
(Jake being led out of the P.D by officers,
handcuffed.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh running up to them.)

CALLEIGH: Jake??! What's happened?! What's
going on?

JAKE: I'm being charged with the murder of
Sheena West, Calleigh.

CALLEIGH: What?! But I... I was working that
case... Faye...
JAKE: Why don't you ask your precious Faye?
She'll tell you everything, from the DNA to my
confession.
CALLEIGH: But there was evidence of... oh
my God...

JAKE: Truth hurts, doesn't it?

(Calleigh stares at him.)
CALLEIGH: I called you that night... you never
answered.
JAKE: I was busy, and Sheena managed to grab
the phone first. Cal, babe... you're gorgeaus,
but Sheena... she was different, exciting...
but she wouldn't shut up, and she threatened
to call you back. Then you would've found out
everything... so I shut her up.
CALLEIGH: I don't believe this... I never thought
you'd sink so low.
JAKE: Yeah, I know... but you've always had a
thing for lowlifes, haven't you, babe?

(Calleigh's face drains of all colour.

She swings back her right hand and slaps him.
Jake grimaces, fixing her with a look that is a
mixture of coldness and anger.)

CALLEIGH: Get him out of here.

Cut to:
(Wide shot as Jake is put in a police car.

Camera pans to Calleigh standing still, her hair
tossed by the wind.

Camera focuses behind her, as Faye walks out
of the P.D and stands there.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh turning and seeing Faye.)

Cut to:
(Faye blinking back tears.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh walking slowly up the steps towards Faye,
facing her.

Her eyes hold no accusation, but a great deal of
sadness and hurt.)

Cut to:
(Shot of the case-file as Faye hands it to Calleigh.

They share a long look, both holding onto the case-
file for a moment.

They turn and head back inside.)

Cut to:
[INT. - LAB - EVENING]

Cut to:
(Break-room.)

Cut to:
(Shot of the case-file in Calleigh's hands as she
reads it.)

Cut to:
(Faye standing at the door.)

Cut to:
(Shot of Calleigh's eyes scanning the pages.)

Cut to:
(Side shot of her hands shaking.

She sets the file down, sighing wearily.)

Cut to:
(Faye walking towards her, and sitting down
opposite her.)

FAYE: Calleigh... Calleigh, can you ever forgive
me? I'm so sorry.

Cut to:
(Calleigh opening her eyes.)

CALLEIGH: There's no need to apologise, Faye.
You did nothing wrong... you did everything
right.

FAYE: But this was your case, and I hid things
from you.

CALLEIGH: I would have become too involved.
You were right not to tell me. It would have
compromised the entire case.

FAYE: I still lied, Calleigh.

CALLEIGH: You were doing your job. And you
did it well. You followed the evidence, even
when it led you down dark paths to places
you've never been. That's what makes a
great CSI.

(Faye looks down.)

FAYE: I appreciate what you're saying, Calleigh.
I was so afraid I'd mess this up somehow, but
you taught me everything I needed to know.
It's because of you that I was able to manage
this and solve this case.

(Calleigh smiles slowly.)

FAYE: I know this is a ridiculous question to
ask you at this time of all times, but are you
okay?

(Calleigh leans forward, fixing Faye with a
pensieve look.)

CALLEIGH: Considering the circumstances,
I'm fine...

(She gives a tight smile.)

FAYE: I know this is difficult for you, and I
want you to know I'm here to listen.

(Calleigh lowers her eyes.)

CALLEIGH: Believe me, I have a lot to say,
and it's not for virgin ears...

(She gives a small laugh.)

CALLEIGH: I mean, I've just found out that
my so-called boyfriend was cheating on me,
and that he's murdered a woman all in one
night, and the case I happened to be working
on leads to him.

(She gives another laugh.)
CALLEIGH: It's actually funny when you think
about it. He's dating a CSI, and I investigate
the case of his murder victim! Can't get more
ironic that that!

(She dips her head with an ironic smile,
shaking her head.

Faye remains quiet.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh's eyes blinking as she fights her rapidly
pooling tears.)

CALLEIGH: You know, Faye, I'm not sure which
upsets me more... the fact that Jake murdered
Sheena or the fact that he slept with her.
What an awful thought...

(She puts her hand to her forehead.

Faye moves closer to her.)

FAYE: Calleigh... I cannot begin to tell you how
sorry I am for all of this. No one deserves this
kind of heartache.

CALLEIGH: I'm just so... so angry and hurt. I
feel betrayed, but a part of me is saying,
'You have to get through this, for your own
sake...'

FAYE: And you will, Calleigh. I know you will.

(A pause.)

CALLEIGH: Can I tell you something?

FAYE: Mmhmm...
CALLEIGH: Even when we were dating, I
knew Jake wasn't right for me. He sparked
a passion in me that was overwhelming...
but his ethics were always clashing with
mine. Just like all those years ago... maybe
I am better off.

FAYE: It's good you realised that before it
was too late.

CALLEIGH: Yeah... I think my problem was
I settled for something that I didn't really
want. I was looking for love in all the wrong
places.

FAYE: You deserve the best, Calleigh. Really.

CALLEIGH: Thank you, Faye. You're a good
friend.

(Faye smiles.)

FAYE: Calleigh, I know today has taught you
a lot, but I just need you to do something for
me. Open your eyes. Open your eyes and
see what's right in front of you. Take time
to see what you have, to realise how lucky
you are, and maybe you'll see light at the
end of the tunnel. Then you'll see the love
you've been searching for all this time, and
you'll be able to put this experience behind
you, and move forward with a man who will
treat you with all the respect, devotion and
love you deserve.

(Calleigh smiles tearfully.)

CALLEIGH: I really wish that would happen.
FAYE: It will, Calleigh. Trust me. Like the old
song says, 'Dream by night, wish by day, love
begins this way...' Open your eyes, and see
what's in front of you.

(They smile at each other.

Faye gives Calleigh's hand a squeeze, before
turning to leave.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh sitting still, her eyes looking at the
pages on the table.

She closes the case-file sharply, pushing it
away from her.

She takes a deep breath, and stands firmly.)

Cut to:
(Front shot as Calleigh walks out of the room.)

Cut to:
(Side shot as she walks through the lab slowly.)

Cut to:
(Close-up as she looks to her right.)

Cut to:
(Shot of Ryan in the lab, reading a report,
tapping a pen on the table in front of him.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh smiling slightly.)

Cut to:
(Ryan looking up from the report and turning
to look behind him.

Valera walks in the door, and they start talking,
smiling together.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh smiling a bit more.

She starts walking again.)

Cut to:
(Close-up as she looks to her left.)

Cut to:
(Shot of Eric working in the lab, looking down a
microscope, and writing down notes.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh watching him, her eyes misty.)

Cut back to:
(Eric adjusting the lens.

Natalia walks up behind him and taps him on
the shoulder.

Eric turns around, a grin on his face.
They exchange a few words, and Natalia
pushes Eric's shoulder playfully.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh smiling again, lowering her eyes
and moving on.)

Cut to:

(Shot of Calleigh walking through the lab,
people milling around her.)

Cut to:
(Front shot as she looks up slowly.)
Cut to:
(Shot of people walking, as camera slowly
eases through them

Camera finally reaches a man with his back
turned.

He turns around slowly.

It's Horatio.)

Cut back to:
(Calleigh's eyes widening, and her face
registering surprise.)

Cut back to:
(Wide shot of Horatio standing tall in the
crowd.

He turns to the side, his head lowering.)

Cut back to:
(Calleigh watching him, her eyes searching
him.)

Slow dissolve to:
(Shot of Horatio's hands holding his
sunglasses.)

Slow dissolve to:
(Shot of his profile.

Focus in on his eyes.)

Slow dissolve to:
(Shot of Calleigh's eyes, easing out
slowly.

She can't take her eyes off Horatio.)

Her smile spreads slow and large,
and she blinks back tears.)

CALLEIGH: I see now... I can see you...
Horatio.

(She smiles widely, and walks away.)

Cut to:
(Split-screen shot of Calleigh's smile and
Horatio standing still.)

(FADE TO BLACK.)

Emer, this was wonderfully written. Well done. I've missed your scenes alot. It seems I got through one chapter, and up popped another. I hope you continue this, and there's more to come. I love Calleigh's emotion, and every step of each character is spot on. It's like actually watching an Epi of Miami.

So keep posting, and don't hide away to long.

I've missed seeing you posting around the board. It's great to have you back.:)

Thank you for commenting Linda and Mel. :) Loving your Halloween user names!! :) I ought to change mine... hmmm, how about EvilEyes06? Naah!! :p

Well here's the sequel to the fic I liked to call 'Jake Berkley must die', after that movie, 'John Tucker must die'. :) This is the following week after Calleigh's ordeal, and we get to see how's she coping with it all. And we finally see Horatio and Calleigh reunite and rekindle their partnership again. Hooray!! :)

All the stuff about the case was just used as filler for this fic, but you can imagine that they caught the killer, 'kay? I just wanted to move on to the DuCaine parts and not bore people to death with a case procedure. Enjoy!!

She turns, her eyes scanning the
club.)

Cut to:
(A man leaning against the wall, staring
straight at her.)

Cut back to:
(The woman smiling, beckoning to him.)

Cut to:
(The man moving across the floor to
stand opposite her at the bar.

They exchange looks.)

White flash to:
(Wide shot as they dance close together,
the heavy bass beat pounding.

Their bodies are inches apart, their mouths
almost touching.)

White flash to:
[EXT. - CONDO - NIGHT]

MAN: No... no, please... don't... please...

Cut to:
(Front shot of the man's face as he trembles
in fear.

Camera eases out to reveal a gun pressed to
his temple.)

MAN: I'll do anything... please don't hurt me!
Don't hurt me! Please!

Cut to:
(Finger clicking down the gun hammer,
pressing firmly on the trigger.

There is a loud shot.

Silence)

White flash to:
[EXT. - CONDO - MORNING]

Cut to:
(Officer rolling out the crime-scene tape.)

Cut to:
[INT - CONDO - MORNING]

Cut to:
(Wide shot of the man laying on the floor.)

Cut to:
(Blood pool beside his head.)

Cut to:
(Blood spatter on the wall.)

Cut to:
(Horatio standing over the victim, regarding
him quietly.

Frank appears at Horatio's side.)

HORATIO: Frank... what do we have?

TRIPP: Vic's name is Tony Wells, 28. Born in
Huntsville, Texas. An aspiring singer.

Cut to:
(Horatio raising his eyebrows.)

HORATIO: Singer?

TRIPP: Yeah, he was doing the rounds on
the country music scene. Kid had talent.
He could've made it big.

HORATIO: Hmm... never knew you were a
country music fan?

(Frank clears his throat.)

TRIPP: Well, I...

Cut to:
(Horatio looking around the room.)

Cut to:
(Shot of two shot-glasses on the coffee-
table.)

Cut to:
(Horatio moving to examine them.)

HORATIO: See that?

Cut to:
(Close-up of lip-print on the glass, coloured
red.)

TRIPP: Tony had himself a guest.

HORATIO: Yes... could it have been a friendly
drink, or did Mr. Wells end up with some killer
company?

[ROLL CREDITS]

Fade in:
[EXT. - CONDO - MORNING]

Cut to:
(Onlookers at the yellow tape.)

Cut to:
[INT. - CONDO - MORNING]

Cut to:
(Alexx examing Tony Wells' headwound.)

ALEXX: Oh honey, you must have had the
voice of an angel. Pity we'll never hear it.

HORATIO: Cause of death, Alexx?

ALEXX: Gunshot wound to the head, Horatio.
Looks like a through and through... entrance
wound is his left temple... bullet exited out
his right.

Cut to:
(Close-up of the gunshot wound.)

ALEXX: Looks like a barrel impression here...

(Horatio kneels down for a closer look.)

HORATIO: Yes... the killer pressed it against
his temple.

White flash to:
(Tony with the gun at his head.)

Cut back to:
(Alexx examining Tony closer.)

ALEXX: Horatio... you see what I see?

(Horatio leans fowards to look.)

Cut to:
(Shot of red love-bitr on the victim's neck.)

ALEXX: Now that's a hickey if I ever saw one...

HORATIO: And...

(He lifts Tony's shirt-collar to reveal red lipstick
smudged underneath.)

HORATIO: Same shade as the wine-glass.

ALEXX: So Tony had a lady friend over. Could
she have pulled the trigger?

HORATIO: Possibly, but it's early yet... we'll let
the evidence do the talking.

Cut to:
(Outside the condo as another Hummer pulls
up.

Calleigh gets out, kit in hand.)

Cut back to:
(Inside condo as Horatio continues to talk to
Alexx.)

ALEXX: Liver temp places time of death at 1 a.m.

HORATIO: Let's just hope our killer didn't get far.
Thank you, Alexx.

Cut to:
(Calleigh ducking under the tape and walking up
the path to the front door.)

Cut to:
(Horatio walking out of the living-room, his head
down.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh reaching the front door.)

Cut to:
(Horatio walking through the front hall.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh stepping inside the door.)

Cut to:
(Wide shot as Horatio and Calleigh bump into
each other.

They both stop, and stare at each other for
a beat.)

HORATIO: Calleigh, I'm so sorry, I wasn't
looking.

CALLEIGH: No Horatio, I'm sorry, I was miles
away.

(They both share a laugh.)

HORATIO: Well, uhh... our victim's inside.
We've got a through and through gunshot
wound, so look out for any casings and the
bullet itself.

CALLEIGH: Alright, I'm on it.

(Horatio regards her fondly.)

HORATIO: Okay... I'll see you later.

CALLEIGH: Okay.

(Calleigh steps to her left, as Horatio steps
to his right.

She steps to her right, as he steps to his left.
They move left and right again, before Calleigh
starts laughing.

Horatio chuckles.
Calleigh finally puts her hands on Horatio's
shoulders, and moves him to the left.

She steps through, passing close by him.)

HORATIO: (sheepishly) Sorry about that.

CALLEIGH: That's okay. It was kinda funny.

(Horatio ducks his head.

Calleigh looks at him quietly.)

HORATIO: Umm... I will... see you later.

CALLEIGH: Mmhmm. See you.

(Horatio smiles, slipping on his sunglasses
and leaving.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh waching him go, a smile on her
face.

She turns and heads into the house.)

Cut to:
[INT. - CRIMELAB - AFTERNOON]

Cut to:
(Ballistics lab.)
Cut to:
(Wide shot from behind of Calleigh examining
the bullet recovered from the scene under
the microscope.)

Cut to:
(Side shot as she writes a few notes.)

Cut to:
(Lab door as Horatio walks in.)

CALLEIGH: Hey.

HORATIO: Hey. You've recovered the slug
from the scene?

CALLEIGH: Yeah, but it was pretty banged
up. It struck off the wall in the living room
and ended up lodged in the bookshelf.
Caliber is consistent with a .42.

(Horatio moves to take a look.)

CALLEIGH: Rifling is also consistent with a
left-hand twist, and the barrel impression
is consistent with that of a .42 weapon.

HORATIO: Mmhmm... number one with a
bullet.

(Calleigh smiles.)

CALLEIGH: I'm just about to enter the
information into the database to try to
find out if the murder weapon had been
used in a prior.

HORATIO: Don't let me stop you.

(Calleigh laughs, shaking her head and
moving to the computor.

She taps a few keys, and the computor
starts searching.)

Cut to:
(Wide shot as Calleigh leans back for a
moment.

Horatio stands behind her.

They both watch the screen for a few
seconds.

Horatio ducks his head slowly.)

HORATIO: Umm... so how are things?

(Calleigh turns to face him.)

CALLEIGH: Oh, you know, bit hectic, but
otherwise fine.

(Horatio nods.)

CALLEIGH: And you?

HORATIO: Oh, uhh... fine as well, thanks.

(A beat.)

HORATIO: How's your father?

(Calleigh is surprised, but she manages to
answer.)

CALLEIGH: He's well, thank you for asking.
He's working hard. How's Ray Jr.?

HORATIO: He's good. Studying well at school.

CALLEIGH: I can guess who he wants to be
like.

(Horatio chuckles.

A long beat.)

HORATIO: It's been a while, hasn't it? Since
we've had a good conversation.

CALLEIGH: Yeah, you're right. I missed that.
But we're talking now.

HORATIO: We are. And I'm glad.

CALLEIGH: So am I...

(The computor beeps.)

CALLEIGH: Looks like we've got a hit.

(She taps a few keys.)

CALLEIGH: Gun's registered to William McGuire.
Used in a robbery 3 years ago. Wait a minute...

(Horatio reads the screen.)

CALLEIGH: McGuire's trial is pending. He's still
in custody. So unless he's in 2 places at once...

HORATIO: Someone else used his gun.

Fade in:
(Shot of Miami.)

Cut to:
[INT. - LOCKER-ROOM - EVENING]

Cut to:
(Shot of the door opening as Horatio steps
inside.

He turns and stops.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh sitting on the bench, looking down,
her hair falling to cover her face.

She looks up to see Horatio.)

HORATIO: Calleigh?

(She smiles slightly.)

CALLEIGH: Hey...

HORATIO: You okay?
(Calleigh looks away, pressing her lips
together.)

CALLEIGH: I wish I had an answer for you,
Horatio. Really, it's just I... I don't know...
it's so complicated...

Cut to:
(Front shot as Horatio sits beside her.)

HORATIO: Do you want to talk about it?

(Calleigh glances at him.)

CALLEIGH: I'm not sure I can.

HORATIO: Trust me, it helps. I'm listening,
tell me.

(Calleigh gives a shaky smile, turning her
head sharply.)

CALLEIGH: Alright. I'll do my best...

(She gives a small sigh.)

CALLEIGH: As you've already discovered,
Jake Berkley and I... we were involved.

(She gives a shake of her head.)
CALLEIGH: You know, there was a part of
me that truely believed we stood a chance.
That part of me still at the academy.

(She lowers her eyes.)

CALLEIGH: We never did... from the beginning
it was pure destruction.

Cut to:
(Horatio watching her, his eyes steady.)

CALLEIGH: Then again, that's just me, isn't
it? Always choosing the rotten apple. Always
going for the bad boy.Always living
dangerously.

Cut to:
(Horatio lowering his head.)

CALLEIGH: I sure know how to pick 'em,
don't I?

(She gives a humourless laugh.

Horatio stays silent.)

CALLEIGH: You'd think I could see the
signs? That I could tell when things
were happening with him. Those late
nights... those nights out with his friends...
coming back smelling of cheap beer and
cheap perfume...

Cut to:
(Her hands gripping the bench.)

CALLEIGH: I was so damned stubborn. I
wanted to make it work so badly, I ignored
those warning signs. Smart move, wasn't
it?

(Horatio gives no reply.)
CALLEIGH: Looking back, I think I know
why I wanted to work things out with
Jake. I just needed someone. I was tired
of coming home to an empty house and a
meal for one every night, watching TV on
the sofa. I wanted more than that in my
life. I wanted a life.

(She leans her head back, closing her
eyes.)

CALLEIGH: And now... I'm back to square
one again. Back to an empty calendar and
an empty bed.

(Horatio clasps his hands together, still
watching her.)

CALLEIGH: I know I can never forgive Jake
for murdering Sheena. I'm not that foolish,
but he was there for me. He was there to
keep me company, and now that he won't
be there...

(Calleigh bites her lip.)

CALLEIGH: That's going to be hard.

(She leans forward.)

CALLEIGH: God... what's happened to me,
Horatio? I... I don't feel like myself anymore.

HORATIO: Calleigh, you've had a great shock.
What you're feeling is understadable.

CALLEIGH: No, Horatio. I'm not the same
Calleigh anymore. I... I would never have
taken him back. I wouldn't have let him
kiss me. I would have sent him off with
a flea in his ear... but I... oh, God...

(She blinks quickly, wringing her hands.)

HORATIO: Oh, Calleigh...

CALLEIGH: I won't... I can't cry over him...

HORATIO: No, you can't. But you need to
let it out, Calleigh. Or it will break your
heart.

(Calleigh's eyes fill.)

CALLEIGH: Too late, Horatio. It... it already
is.

(She shuts her eyes and lets the tears fall.)

Cut to:
(Wide shot as she leans forward, her shoulders
shaking.

She sobs quietly.)

Cut to:
(Side shot of Horatio putting his hand on her
shoulder.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh smoothing her hair back from her
face.)

CALLEIGH: I'm such a fool to have fallen for
him and his lies.

HORATIO: Sometimes it happens that our
feelings can make us lose all reason.

(Calleigh looks at him.)

CALLEIGH: Can they make you forget who
you are? Make you someone you're not?

(A beat.)

HORATIO: Do you want to know what I
think?

(Calleigh nods.)

HORATIO: I think that you have shown
great courage in dealing with these
circumstances. You were strong enough
to come through this.

(Calleigh looks at him, her eyes watery.)

HORATIO: Calleigh, you deserve only the
best. You are far too special and wonderful
to deserve anything less.

CALLEIGH: I don't know about that...

HORATIO: It's the truth, Calleigh. And this
may not offer you any consolation, but in
my eyes, you're still the same Calleigh
Duquesne I met 6 years ago. You're still
that bright, intelligent and beautiful
woman whose smile lights up a room.

(Calleigh smiles.)

HORATIO: You have a good heart, and a
spirit that can never be diminished. Always
remember that, okay sweetheart?

(She nods, sniffing slightly.)

Cut to:
(Horatio taking out his handkerchief.

He cups her right cheek with his left palm
and gently dries her tears.)

Cut to:
(Side shot of Horatio and Calleigh sitting
on the bench.

Horatio's thumb starts stroking her cheek
slowly.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh blinking slowly, tears still in her
eyes.)

Cut to:
(Horatio looking into her eyes.)

Cut to:
(Side shot as Horatio stops what he's doing.

He lowers the handerchief slowly.

A beat, before he leans in towards Calleigh,
pressing a kiss to her cheek.

Calleigh gives a quiet gasp, her eyes shutting,
and her right hand coming up to hold his hand
against her cheek.

Horatio lingers for a long moment, pulling back
to look into Calleigh's eyes.

He suddenly appears embarassed of his actions.

He takes his hand away from Calleigh's face,
ducking his head.)

HORATIO: I... uhh... I'm sorry, Calleigh. You
were upset, and I was forward, and I...

(He mumbles to a standstill.)

Cut to:

(Side shot as he stands abruptly, and makes
to leave.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh looking up at him, her cheeks
colouring.)

CALLEIGH: Horatio...

(She takes his hand.)

Cut to:
(Horatio turning back to look at her.)

CALLEIGH: Don't go.

(She stands up, still holding his hand.)

CALLEIGH: Don't leave me alone.

(She squeezes his hand.

Horatio looks down, licking his lips nervously.

Calleigh lifts up Horatio's hand, holdng it in
both of hers.

She kisses the back of his hand slowly.

Horatio watches her, his eyes becoming heavy.

Calleigh looks up at him, smiling slowly.

She lowers Horatio's hand, and begins to run
her hands up Horatio's arms.

Horatio looks left and right, his breathing
hitching.

Calleigh rests her hands on Horatio's shoulders,
pulling slightly at his jacket.)

HORATIO: Calleigh...

CALLEIGH: Horatio... my eyes are open, and
I see clearly now.

(She wraps her arms around his neck.)

CALLEIGH: All I see is you, Handsome.

(Horatio shuts his eyes, trying to keep
control.)

HORATIO: Calleigh, I... I...

CALLEIGH: Don't fight it, Horatio.

(She moves closer to him.)
CALLEIGH: I need to be with you. I need
you.

(Horatio exhales sharply, his hands
hovering over Calleigh's body.)

HORATIO: Sweetheart... I don't want to
hurt you.

CALLEIGH: The only way you can hurt me
is by turning away. Tell me this doesn't
feel good, that this doesn't feel right.

HORATIO: I... I can't... it feels perfect...
Calleigh...

CALLEIGH: Horatio... hold me...

(Horatio's arms come around Calleigh
tightly, pulling her to him.

Calleigh gives a half-cry of happiness,
her hands in Horatio's hair.

Horatio's hands begin a tender caress
of Calleigh's back as he holds her tighter.)

Cut to:
(Wide shot of their embrace.)

Cut to:
(Side shot as Horatio pulls back, meeting

Calleigh's eyes, their faces inches apart.

He leans his forehead against hers.

They both breath quickly, their eyes
closed.

Their lips are a breath away.)

Cut to:
(Door opening.)

Cut back to:
(Calleigh and Horatio springing apart.

They both stand still, not meeting each
others eyes.)

Cut to:
(Ryan walking in, whistling.)

RYAN: Hey, guys.

(He walks to his locker, pulling out a clean
shirt.

Horatio and Calleigh attempt to act normal.)

HORATIO: Uhh... so we'll discuss this further
in the morning. Great work today, Calleigh.

CALLEIGH: Thanks, Horatio. See you
tomorrow.

(She turns and goes to the door.)

Cut to:
(Horatio turning away, taking a deep breath.)

CALLEIGH: (off-screen) To be continued,
Horatio.

(Horatio turns back to the door.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh at the door, a sultry smile on her
face.)

CALLEIGH: To be continued.

(She winks flirtatiously, walking out the door,
leaving a flustered Horatio behind.

He ducks his head with a grin.)

RYAN: Hey H, you guys alright?

(Horatio turns to Ryan.)

HORATIO: All I'll say, Mr, Wolfe, is that things...
are looking up.

(He smiles to himself, turns and leaves.)

RYAN: Huh? What does that mean?

(He shrugs.)

RYAN: What were they doing in here anyway?

(He starts unbuttoning his shirt, still deep in
thought.)

Cut to:
(Close-up of Ryan as realisation hits him.

He blinks widely, looking at the door of the
locker-room.

He smiles impishly.)

RYAN: (sing-song) Horatio and Cal-leigh,
Sitting in a tree...

(He gives a laugh.)

Slow dissolve to:
(The sun setting.)

(FADE TO BLACK.)

Aww...passes out. Where's the kiss EmerAngel??:)

Great job. I love the passion between them. You can feel it. The ending when he touches her cheek, when she kisses his hand. Beautiful, romantic, tender, and loving.

Thanks Emer.:)

Looking forward to the next:cool:

Alrighty then! Here's the next part of this 3 part scenario. Hope you enjoy!! And to answer MacsWickedDevil, patience is a virtue! ;)

Here we go! Please let me know what you think! :):

Fade in:
(Shot of Miami.)

Cut to:
[INT. - LAB - EVENING]

Cut to:
(Horatio walking through the lab,
holding the casefile of the day.

He walks up the stairs to his office.)

Cut to:
(Shot of the door from inside the
office as Horatio opens it, comes
in and closes it behind him.

He walks forwards a few steps, but
he stops suddenly.

Focus in on his face registering
surprise.)

Cut to:
(Shot of Horatio's desk, the back of
the chair facing forward.

It slowly swivels round.

We see Calleigh sitting there.

She taps her fingers on the armrests.)

CALLEIGH: So... we meet again, Mr.
Caine.

Cut back to:
(Horatio smiling, ducking his head.)

HORATIO: And a very good evening
to you, Calleigh.

Cut to:
(Calleigh smiling saucily, an eyebrow
raising.)

Cut back to:
(Horatio fiddling with the case-file.)

HORATIO: I was hoping to find you,
and tell you well done after today.

CALLEIGH: And I wasn't in ballistics...
HORATIO: I thought you'd gone home.
You worked hard today.

Cut to:
(Calleigh leaning back, lifting her legs
up onto the desk, crossing her ankles.)

Cut to:
(Horatio gazing at her intently.)

CALLEIGH: Would I ever pass up the
opportunity to have a private chat
with you?

Cut to:
(Horatio ducking his head again.)

HORATIO: Obviously not...

CALLEIGH: And... I wanted to surprise
you.

(She swings her legs down from the
desk, sitting forward, her eyes on him.)

HORATIO: And you have, believe me.

(A beat.)

HORATIO: Can I say something?

CALLEIGH: Shoot.

HORATIO: Umm... you look good behind
that desk. It suits you.

Cut to:
(Calleigh smiling more.)

CALLEIGH: Why thank you, Horatio. You
know, I've always wondered what it was
like to be in a position of power...

(Horatio sets the case-file on the table
beside him, taking a few steps towards
her.)

HORATIO: Hmmm... there's something
about a woman who can take control.
Why do you think I made you acting
Lieutenant in my place?

Cut to:
(Calleigh shrugging, getting up and
tracing patterns on the desk with
her fingertips.)

CALLEIGH: Oh, I don't know...
(deadpan) Mental void?

(Horatio chuckles.)

HORATIO: No... because I knew you
were the perfect candidate. Everything
you do you do well, and that was no
exception.

CALLEIGH: I'm flattered. Careful, I
might start blushing...

(She moves around the desk, standing
in front of it, leaning against it.)

HORATIO: I'm just telling the truth,
Calleigh. I had complete faith in you.
Always have, always will

(Calleigh smiles, biting her lip.)

CALLEIGH: Me too, Horatio.

(A beat.)

Cut to:
(Wide shot as they regard each other
quietly.)

CALLEIGH: Horatio... remember what
I said to you in the locker-room last
week after Ryan interrupted us?

(Horatio looks away, his cheeks
colouring.)

HORATIO: You said... to be continued.

CALLEIGH: I think it's time we
continued our talk, don't you?

(Horatio looks back at her, his smile
soft.)

HORATIO: Hmm...

(Calleigh beckons to him.)

CALLEIGH: Come here...

(Horatio moves forward until he is
standing in front of her, his eyes
lowered.)

CALLEIGH: Closer...

(Horatio obeys, moving to within
inches of her.

Calleigh takes hold of Horatio's jacket,
pulling him to her.)

CALLEIGH: I don't want anymore
distance between us, Handsome.
Physical...

(She runs her hands up Horatio's
chest.

Horatio lets out a gasp.)

CALLEIGH: Or emotional.

(Horatio raises his head to meet
Calleigh's eyes.

His hands move to her waist.)

HORATIO: Calleigh...

(He moves closer, lifting her up to sit
on the desk.)

Cut to:
(Side shot of their faces inches apart.

Calleigh's eyes flick down to Horatio's
mouth.

She closes her eyes, inclining her head
up to Horatio.)

Cut to:
(Horatio watching her, his eyes heavy.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh moving towards Horatio.)

Cut to:
(Side shot as Horatio turns away at the
last second.

Calleigh meets his cheek instead.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh's eyes opening.

She lowers her head.)

Cut to:
(Horatio breathing hard, his eyes closed.)

HORATIO: I'm sorry, Calleigh.

CALLEIGH: Ssshh... it's alright...

(She smiles softly, putting her hands on
his shoulders, raising her head to kiss his
cheek.

Horatio sighs gently.

Calleigh kisses his cheek several times,
cradling his head and running her fingers
through his hair.)

Cut to:
(Horatio's hands clenching on the desk.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh pulling back to look at Horatio.

He ducks his head, unable to look at her.

Calleigh takes his face in her hands, her
thumbs stroking his cheeks.)

HORATIO: Sweetheart... I want you so
badly... but someone might see, and...

CALLEIGH: I understand, Horatio. I know
you're a man of honour.

HORATIO: But you've waited for so long,
Calleigh, and that's my fault.

CALLEIGH: Horatio, look at me... Good
things are worth waiting for. I can wait
a bit longer, and you are definitely
worth it.

(Horatio smiles.)

HORATIO: Thank you, Calleigh. Thank
you.

(He hugs her tightly.)

CALLEIGH: When am I gonna get you
alone and all to myself?

HORATIO: How does Friday sound?

CALLEIGH: Sounds perfect.

(They pull away with intense looks.

Horatio lifts Calleigh down from the desk.

He takes hold of her hands and kisses her
fingers.

Calleigh smiles, squeezing his hand softly.

They part reluctantly, as Calleigh
retrieves the case-file and hands it
to Horatio with a look of sympathy.

He sighs dramatically.

They both laugh.

Calleigh turns to leave, looking back
at Horatio as she opens the door.)

Cut to:
(Horatio standing by his desk, turning
back to her.

He smiles at her.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh blowing him a kiss.)

Cut to:
(Horatio 'catching' the kiss and placing
it on his mouth.

He winks at her.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh smiling, her eyes bright.

She leaves, her soft laugh echoing.)

Cut to:
(Horatio sitting down at his desk, smiling
as he starts writing.)

Cut to:
(Calleigh walking through the lab, her smile
wide.)

(FADE TO BLACK.)

Awww...great job Emer. I loved it. :)But did you have you tease me like that? Here I was getting into the near kiss, and Horatio turns away???:wtf:

Nooooooo...take her Horatio. You've waited long enough:scream:

Now you make me wait again.:(

All teasing aside Emer. I can't wait for the next scene. You always write them beautifully. Thanks for sharing again.:)

*You make me want to restart "Going Under"*

*Two new DuCaine poems in Poetry thread*

Last edited:
*ducks head like Horatio* I'm such a tease, I know!! :p I guess I was playing off Horatio's insecurities in that last bit, and he's still nervous about getting close to Calleigh and mightn't even believe that she wants him. Cal will have to convince him...

Thanks for the comments you two! :) And hoorah for more DuCaine poetry!! :)

Another update will be coming up!

Hello everyone. :) I've been so bad not updating, but my studies have been keeping me busy the last while, grrr!!! Anyway, here's a new update. :)

This is a Horatio and Calleigh scene with a twist. This is part of an excerpt from the CSI: Miami novel, 'Heatwave' by Max Allan Collins. Being the bookworm I am, I love the books both by Mr. Collins and Donn Cortez, who have each recognised the chemistry Horatio and Calleigh share and have written some nice conversations between them. :)
miamirocks very kindly posted a snippet from the novel 'Cut and Run' in the DuCaine shipper thread, which is a must-read for H/C fans.
So now I've decided to post transcripts of DuCaine scenes from the books, with my own small additions, like little continuations of scenes. Romance ahead!!
All the words transcribed here are copyright of the author, no infringement intended. I do not own the rights to this novel, and I don't own CSI: Miami. (If I did, there'd be massive changes!!!  )

Here is a tiny snippet of a scene from the book, and I've added Horatio's thoughts. Italics are the original words, and the normal font is my own work. Enjoy!!

Cutting through the lab, Caine found Calleigh hard at work, happily lost in the tedium of trying to match bullets from the latest crime scene.

Even though he knew time wasn't on his side considering the scale of the case, Horatio couldn't resist standing still for a moment, simply watching her. He was helpless to resist the lure of her light, and so like a
moth drawn to a flame, he was hypnotised.
His eyes traced the golden curtain of her hair, that looked so soft to the touch. The temptation to bury his face in her silky hair was overwhelming. He breathed in the scent of her perfume that permeated the air of the lab where he stood. He listened to her soft sigh as she leaned back slightly in her chair. Horatio remained silent, not wanting to startle her.
She leaned forward again, writing down some more notes as she matched another set of striations.
Horatio took in every movement, his eyes roving over her, imprinting her image in his mind. She was all that kept him sane during times like these, with a seemingly endless flow of innocent victims, overtime and darkness. She was his light, his comfort, and his strength. She was his everything. Someday, he would tell her how he felt. Soon...
With a slow duck of his head, the impending funeral of Joanna Bennett and the current chaos of killings that was happening in the city dousing him better than a cold shower, Horatio gave one last look at Calleigh, who was still working away dilligently.
He gave her a secret smile, and left.

Let me know what you think. Hope you liked it. :) I'll try to post one every weekend if I can.
