CSI: Cyber Season 2

I think we can kiss Cyber goodbye. It's a shame that it never really got a chance, like the other CSI's did.
Stupid to put it on Sunday's, just like it was stupid to move the mother ship to Sunday.

IF Cyber were to air uninterrupted CBS has made enough room for all 22 episodes. That said I expect that there are a few Sundays where they have something else (awards show / ???) scheduled which means they would most likely still have to find someplace for at least a couple more episodes.

This is a "been there, done that" type of article. Basically Zuiker's saying the same stuff we were told last year with "CSI" and we all know how that ended.

Will 'CSI: Cyber' Be the End of the 'CSI' Franchise?

Exec producer Anthony Zuiker talks with THR about the future of the franchise after the last incarnation was pulled from the network's schedule.
Could the CSI franchise end this year with CSI: Cyber?

When CBS announced its midseason schedule Friday, CSI: Cyber, the last remaining series in the global franchise, lost its time slot. The sophomore drama will segue from its Sunday at 10 p.m. slot in March and make way for Elementary, which will move from Thursdays after the network slotted rookie Rush Hour. CBS will test CSI: Cyber for two weeks on Wednesdays (March 2 and 9) before the Ted Danson-Patricia Arquette starrer vanishes from the schedule. A return date or time slot for the remaining CSI: Cyber episodes has not yet been determined.
So is this the end of CSI, the former most-watched show across the globe?

"I don't think so," exec producer and CSI: Crime Scene Investigator creator Anthony Zuiker told The Hollywood Reporter following his appearance Saturday at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, where he was there for a special Hulu nostalgia panel. "We're going to go ahead and do 22 [episodes] as ordered and then you sit tight in May and see how the schedule shuffles around and you hope to continue. We have the biggest stars in television in terms of Ted Danson, Patricia Arquette and James Van Der Beek; it's an amazing franchise and a very solid show. Because the future of crime is cyber, there's no reason why it shouldn't continue."

CSI: Cyber is the third spinoff from the flagship series. The procedural — which is produced by CBS' studio counterpart — has not performed in the way its predecessors (CSI: Miami and CSI: NY) have. But given viewer erosion, its season one 2.5 rating among adults 18-49 is considered respectable given the lackluster performance of other broadcast spinoffs.
Zuiker told reporters Saturday during Hulu's nostalgia panel that procedurals are cyclical. "At the time in the year 2000 it made sense to do procedural shows. … It was a good business model and it has been a good model. Nowadays, networks may pull back on procedurals because there's options to binge," he said.

During Saturday's panel, Zuiker was joined by Darren Star (Younger, Beverly Hills, 90210) and Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars, iZombie) to discuss how streaming services like Hulu and Netflix have helped new generations of viewers to find decades-old series as nostalgia continues to be in demand.

As for a potential fourth CSI spinoff, Zuiker told THR he's not currently looking at doing anything else in the franchise though he is open to doing something "if the right idea presents itself and makes sense with where we are."

"For right now, our focus is on CSI: Cyber," he said.

Since he said he was only going to be in around 15 episodes and I don't think anybody is really convinced that Cyber is coming back next season so it may be a moot point but...

"consistent, if somewhat lackluster" got "CSI" cancelled!

Ted Danson to Exit ‘CSI: Cyber’ After 1 Season

Ted Danson will exit “CSI: Cyber” after just one season, CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller confirmed on Tuesday at the TCA winter press tour.

Danson played D.B. Russell on “CSI” for four years, then switched over to the spinoff after the original show ended in Sept.

NBC announced Tuesday that Danson will star in a new Mike Schur series “Good Place” alongside Kristen Bell. Bell plays Eleanor, a woman from New Jersey who comes to realize that she hasn’t been a very good person. She decides to turn over a new leaf by learning what it actually means to be “good” or “bad,” and then trying to make up for her past behavior.

Danson plays Michael who, through an unlikely set of circumstances, comes to be Eleanor’s guide through her self-designed self-improvement course. NBC ordered 13 episodes of the show last August during the network’s TCA day.

Danson’s exit does not bode well for “CSI: Cyber,” as the show recently lost its time slot to “Elementary.”

“Elementary” will shift to “CSI: Cyber’s” time slot on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET, beginning March 20. “CSI: Cyber” will move to the temporary time slot of Wednesdays at 10 on March 2 and March 9. It is not known at this time when new episodes of “Cyber” will air following these special airings.

“Cyber” has been a consistent, if somewhat lackluster, ratings performer, with this season thus far averaging six million viewers per episode, but only a 0.9 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. After doing CSI for a few years, I'm sure he was ready to move on to something else--it's obvious that he loves doing comedies, so I'm glad he found a new show. :)

Cyber's fate is on shaky ground, but I doubt Ted's exit would matter much. He's not in every episode as it is, even if he's a big name. IDK, we'll see what happens...

Oh, that's sad. I didn't know about that, but then I don't live in the US and I don't read the CBS articles until someone posts them here. I'm not even familiar with most of the shows people mention here :p
I like D.B. in Cyber, and personally, I wouldn't mind a third season. This show has great potential and had such an improvement since season 1.

This show is effectively cancelled. The actors have already signed on for other projects. I would expect them to come up with an interesting premise or city and try to reinvigorate the franchise in a few years.

According to CBSPressExpress there will be a new episode this Wednesday (March 2nd) at 10pm and Wednesday March 9 at 10pm. Any more after that they'll probably just stick it on the schedule somewhere (kinda like they did with "CSI"!).
