CSI Award Nominations/Wins Discussion

I'm glad to hear about CSI! Thanks for posting the link Blackflag!

On the other hand, I guess I never considered Desperate Housewives a true comedy though. I watched a bit in the beginning and I would say that there was definitely dark comedy at times, but I always thought it was a drama

For those interested CSI won in Monte Carlo again. :) Doesn't say who, if anyone was there. Last year I believe CM accepted via video.

Monte Carlo TV Festival

In the TV Audience Awards, CSI: Las Vegas earned the 'Best Drama TV Series' title,

Susan

Marg accepted the award via video. She's presenting at the Tony Awards this Sunday, so it was kind of impossible for her to be there this year.

The Emmy nominations haven't come out yet--the ballots were just mailed out this week.

Apparently any and every actor can submit their name in the appropriate category. I saw the ballot--Laurence Fishburne submitted his name in 2 categories: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (for CSI) and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Movies/Miniseries (for Thurgood). 57 names were submitted for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. From that group 6 people will actually be nominated.

In the supporting actor/drama category, Robert David Hall submitted his name. A total of 120 names were submitted in this one!

Bill Irwin (Nate Haskell) submitted his name twice in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama for something called "Lights Out" and for the "Targets of Obsession" episode of CSI.

Marlee Matlin and Ann-Margret each submitted their names in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for "The Two Mrs. Grissoms" and "Sqweegel", respectively.

None of the other CSI actors submitted their names.

^ I could maybe see Ann Margret and maybe Bill Irwin winning, I don't know if any others will the way the award shows seem to do, though I hope so

Fourth time, has any other show ever done that before?

You missed Jorja submitting her name for supporting actress.

The simple way of putting it -

The actors submit their names. The members of the academy vote for the top 6, those 6 become the nominations, and the top vote getter wins.

It's almost like they decided that since there isn't any way that someone from CSI is going to win why should they bother to submit their names. :(

CSI (& Miami & NY) has been nominated for an audience award in the 7th International TV Audience Awards in Monte Carlo. At least we know the winner is going to a CSI.

The 52nd Monte-Carlo Television Festival and Eurodata TV Worldwide have joined forces in order to reward programs who deliver the highest ratings worldwide.

The 7th International TV Audience Awards will reward the programs that gathered the highest number of viewers worldwide in 2011 across five continents in three categories: “Drama TV Series”, “Comedy TV Series”, and “Telenovelas / Soap Operas”.

- Drama TV Series

CSI NEW YORK (USA)
CSI MIAMI (USA)
