There's a band from England called Muse. One of the best bands on this planet. They have a song called Unintended from their 1st album, which I think is appropriate for this topic. Let me know what you think.

Credit goes to Matt Bellamy for writing such beautiful lyrics.

UNINTENDED

You could be my unintended,
Choice to live my life extended,
You could be the one I'll always love.
You could be the one who listens,
To my deepest inquisitions,
You could be the one I'll always love.

I'll be there as soon as I can,
But I'm busy mending broken,
Pieces of the life I had before.

First there was the one who challenged,
All my dreams and all my balance,
She could never be as good as you.

You could be my unintended,
Choice to live my life extended,
You should be the one I'll always love.

I'll be there as soon as I can,
But I'm busy mending broken,
Pieces of the life I had before.

I'll be there as soon as I can,
But I'm busy mending broken,
Pieces of the life I had before.
Before you.

that muse song 'unintended' suits them really well. nice work klobba

tears from the moon -conjure one

Couldn't sleep so I went out walking
Thinking about you and hearing us talking
And all the things I should have said
Echo now, inside my head

I feel something falling from the sky
I'm so sad I made the angels cry

Tears from the moon
Fall down like rain
I reach for you
I reach in vain

Tears from the moon, tears from the moon

It just ain't fair this thing called loving
When one step there and the other feels nothing
I would have done anything for you
I still love you, baby I adore you

All day I keep from falling apart
But at night when the sky gets dark

Tears from the moon
Fall down like rain
I reach for you
I reach in vain

Stop, Stop haunting me
It should be easy
As easy as when you stopped wanting me

Tears from the moon
Fall down like rain
I reach for you
I reach in vain

Tears from the moon
Fall down like rain
but tears from the moon
can't wash away the pain

Tears from the moon, tears from the moon
Tears from the moon, tears from the moon

now, i don't want anyone to get the impression that all i do is go around looking for the perfect gsr song, but a friend just gave me a cd he made for me with a lot of songs i'd never heard before. and this song struck me as being pretty apt (apart from the bit where she says she's happy... but we'll ignore that part). see what you think...

'Feels Like Home' by Chantal Kreviazuk

Somethin' in your eyes, makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself, in your arms
There's somethin' in your voice, makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts, the rest of my life

If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

A window breaks, down a long, dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I'm alright, 'cause I have you here with me
And I can almost see, through the dark there is light

Well, if you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I've waited for your touch
And if you knew how happy you are making me
I never thought that I'd love anyone so much

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way the back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

OH MY GOD! You guys have gotta listen to this new song by Lifehouse! I swear my heart must have stopped when I heard it! *girlish squeal* I LOVE IT!

"You And Me"

What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

All of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You've got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

There's something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you
and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

What day is it?
And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive

That's a good one, Wassito. Also on the same album by Evanessence 'My Immortal' is sort of appropriate... And another song I've been listening to that works is 'You Don't Know Me' - I'm thinking of it from Grissom's perspective, but it works from Sara's perspective too...

'You Don't Know Me' by Jan Arden

You give your hand to me
And then you say hello
And I can hardly speak
My heart is beating so
And anyone can tell
You think you know me well
But you don't know me, ooh...

No you don't know the one
Who dreams of you at night
And longs to kiss your lips
Longs to hold you tight
Oh I am just a friend
That's all I've ever been
Cause you don't know me

I never knew the art of making love
No my heart aches with love for you
Afraid and shy I let my chance go by
The chance that you might love me too
You give your hand to me
And then you say goodbye
I watch you walk away beside the lucky guy

Oh you will never know
The one who loves you so
Well you don't know me

'Iris', 'Unbound' and 'Sometimes you can't make it on your own' are all really good choices. Als I like 'Again' by Lenny Kravitz:

I've been searching for you
I heard a cry within my soul
I've never had a yearning quite like this before
Know that you are walking right through my door

All of my life
Where have you been
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
And if that day comes
I know we could win
I wonder if I'll ever see you again

A sacred gift of heaven
For better worse, wherever
And I would never let somebody break you down
Until you cried, never

All of my life
Where have you been
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
And if that day comes
I know we could win
I wonder if I'll ever see you again

At every time I've always known
That you where there, upon your throne
A lonely queen without her king
I longed for you, my love forever

All of my life
Where have you been
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
And if that day comes
I know we could win
I wonder if I'll ever see you again

All of my life
Where have you been
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
And if that day comes
I know we could win
I wonder if I'll ever see you again

All of my life
Where have you been
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
And if that day comes
I know we could win
I wonder if I'll ever see you again

I wonder if I'll ever see you again
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
I wonder if I'll ever see you again

Private Emotion by Ricky Martin:

Every endless night has a dawning day
Every darkest sky has a shining ray
And it shines on you baby can't you see
You're the only one who can shine for me

It's a private emotion that fills you tonight
And a silence falls between us
As the shadows steal the light
And wherever you may find it
Wherever it may lead
Let your private emotion come to me
Come to me

When your soul is tired
and your heart is weak
Do you think of love
as a one way street
Well it runs both ways,
open up your eyes
Can't you see me here,
how can you deny

And a silence falls between us
As the shadows steal the light
And wherever you may find it
Wherever it may lead
Let your private emotion come to me
Come to me

Every endless night has a dawning day
Every darkest sky has a shining ray
It takes a lot to laugh as your tears go by
But you can find me here
till your tears run dry
And a silence falls between us
As the shadows steal the light
And wherever you may find it
Wherever it may lead
Let your private emotion come to me
Come to me
Come to me
Come to me

please forgive me -david gray. (grissoms pov)

Please forgive me
If I act alittle strange
For I know not what I do.
Feels like lightning running through my veins
Everytime I look at you
Everytime I look at you

Help me out here
All my words are falling short
And there's so much I want to say
Want to tell you just how good it feels
When you look at me that way
When you look at me that way

Throw a stone and watch the ripples flow
Moving out across the bay
Like a stone I fall into your eyes
Deep into some mystery
Deep into that mystery

I got half a mind to scream out loud
I got half a mind to die
So I won't ever have to lose you girl
Won't ever have to say goodbye
I won't ever have to lie
Won't ever have to say goodbye

Yeah na na na na
Yeah na na na na

Please forgive me
If I act alittle strange
For I know not what I do
It's like my head is filled with lightning girl
Everytime I look at you
Everytime I look at you
Everytime I look at you
Everytime I look at you

Oksy, I have a different GSR challenge: Imagine that Grissom indeed comes to the point where he realizes that he's completely screwed up his life where Sara is concerned, and that he's probably lost her. What song would best represent his frame of mind?

For my part, I think I would choose "Asleep At The Wheel" by the Wallflowers, acoustic version. It's a beautiful, melancholy song, and the lyrics are abstract enough to fit Grissom's personality yet suggest his frame of mind and where he is in his life. And that Jakob Dylan is a cutie, too....

"Asleep At The Wheel"
by The Wallflowers

Do you ever stop, do you count all the invitations,
At the end of the day when it comes down to one decision,
Deadbeat girls and freaks at a people's convention,
All these sugars with no vitamin sensation.

Do you ever stop, do you look over old relations,
Look to the belly of another one's emotions,
Someone young in the winds of a revolution,
Tryin' to save his face in the evolution.

Asleep at the wheel,
No windshield,
But you know that the streets here don't change.

He's kept alive in the chain of a mental starvation,
Bone rail skinny only feeding off frustration,
Unlike you who seem bred from corruption,
Feeding off the plates of an ununited nation.

Asleep at the wheel,
No windshield,
But you know that the streets here don't change.

With a lover in the streets who's waiting to make a connection
To be the mother to the soul of your next abortion
She'll steal your money with the eyes of a baby's complexion,
Then she'll laugh at you and your sexual invention.

Smelling like a rose in the flowers of devotion,
Devoted to the heat of a spotlight in motion.
With a face full of mud even though you were only jokin',
As if you really understood the value of isolation.

Asleep at the wheel,
No windshield,
But you know that the streets here don't change.

Your tongue so fast like a freight train comin' a rollin'
Every smile you give's just to keep your mouth from closin'
Every engine burns as a sign of the explosion,
Locked in neutral, your engines are broken.

Like candle wax that sun melts into the ocean,
Like the moon that lights the tracks of the old train station,
You can color in the lines of mother earth's addictions,
And not hold a gun in the face of the earth's abduction.

Asleep at the wheel,
No windshield,
But you know that the streets here don't change.

MissDee, an excellent suggestion.

I think that 'You don't know me' (which i posted perviously) would fit with your scenario of Grissom knowing that he's screwed up his chance with Sara - 'Afraid and shy I let my chance go by, The chance that you might love me too'

Another song that might work is 'It Doesn't Matter' by Alison Kraus:

It doesn't matter what I want
It doesn't matter what I need
It doesn't matter if I cry
Don't matter if I bleed
You've been on a road
Don't know where it goes or where it leads

It doesn't matter what I want
It doesn't matter what I need
If you've made up your mind to go
I won't beg you to stay
You've been in a cage
Throw you to the wind you fly away

It doesn't matter what I want
It doesn't matter what I need
It doesn't matter if I cry
Doesn't matter if I bleed
Feel the sting of tears
Falling on this face you've loved for years

To tie in with MissDee's challenge, here's another one for y'all - Sara has finally decided to say 'to hell with this' regarding her love for Grissom, she decides to move on. What's her song then?

My vote is for 'Goodbye to You' by Michelle Branch

Of all the things I've believed in
I just want to get it over with
Tears form behind my eyes
But I do not cry
Counting the days that pass me by

I've been searching deep down in my soul
Words that I'm hearing are starting to get old
It feels like I'm starting all over again
The last three years were just pretend
And I said,

[Chorus:]
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold on to
The one thing that I tried to hold on to

I still get lost in your eyes
And it seems that I can't live a day without you
Closing my eyes and you chase my thoughts away
To a place where I am blinded by the light
But it's not right

[Chorus]

And it hurts to want everything and nothing at the same time
I want what's yours and I want what's mine
I want you
But I'm not giving in this time

Wow, that Grissom-song is good. I love Alison Krauss, but I haven't heard that one before....

And as for the Sara-challenge... man, she could have *written* those lyrics.... nice one!
