CSI Files
Captain
In a segment that will air tonight, The Insider will visit the set of CSI: New York to take a closer look at the season finale episode "Charge Of This Post."
In this episode, Mac investigates a routine crime scene, he stumbles upon a bag containing C-4 explosives and is unable to evacuate the building quickly enough to get his team out of harms' way. While a CSI is rushed to surgery, Mac struggles with the memories of the last person he was unable to save, a fellow Marine killed during the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing.
"There's a huge street party going on in New York and we're investigating a dead body that was in the building," said Anna Belknap (Lindsay Monroe), whose character is caught in the blast. "So we go in and then the whole building explodes."
The explosion does send a member of the team to the hospital, and though Eddie Cahill (Det. Don Flack) knows who it is, he won't tell. "It gets bad for one of us. I can't say any more than that."
"I won't be the cliffhanger," Hill Harper (Dr. Sheldon Hawkes) promised, to calm those who think they may have to wait until next season to find out if the injured character will survive.
Filming "Charge Of This Post" wasn't much safer than the episode itself. In the episode, the bomber uses a cell phone to detonate the bombs. The real bomb functioned the same way. "They made us turn our cell phones off because it was literally one remote button that let out the signal," Melina Kanakaredes (Stella Bonasera) explained. "It was truly dangerous."
