ABC Takes A Shot At 'CSI' With 'The Night Stalker'

Next season, CSI will have a new competitor on Thursday nights.

ABC will be entering the ratings battle with the show The Night Stalker, a remake of the 1970s show Kolchak: The Night Stalker. The show revolves around Carl Kolchak, portrayed by <font color=yellow>Stuart Townsend</font>, a reporter who investigates crimes that often veer towards the supernatural.

<font color=yellow>Gabrielle Union</font> will portray Perri Reed, Kolchak's partner. "My character is the Scully, if you will," Union revealed. "I don't believe and I offer a bit more of the comic relief." Union described the show as, "moody and dark." The Night Stalker will air on Thursday nights at 9pm.

This isn't the first time ABC has tried to trump the CSI franchise off its ratings crown. Last season, the network launched the procedural drama Eyes against CSI: New York, but the show failed to attract the audience needed to keep it on the air. Eyes was cancelled before the end of the season.

I'm glad to see Gabrielle Union is getting a show. She's a good actress. Other than that, I really don't care. I'll stick to my Grissy.

The night stalker is a real person...he is out there and i bet is going to laugh his a$$ off when he watches that...did anyone know that? and CSI:Miami and NY are in my opinion rips off of csi...
 
What is wrong with ABC? They keep trying to trump down other stations that are larger than them. It's like when they tasted success with Desperate Housewives, they started believing that they could actually kill every huge program out there.

Though I have a huge respect for The Night Stalker since it is paid homage to by The X- Files (so with the Scully mention), I think ABC should stop what they are doing. First they thought they could kill American Idol. Unfortunately they weren't able to do that. Now they're going after CSI. I think this - and they - are just hopeless.
 
Are you saying that ABC should not try to counter-program against CSI? Maybe CBS and Jerry Bruckheimer should have been told that when they put Without A trace up against ER.
 
As much as I am a fan of Night Stalker, In my humble opinion it doesn't have a chance in hell.....
WAS THAT A LITTLE OVER THE TOP....I CAN NEVER TELL :lol: :lol: :lol:
