I love Frank too and I really hope they make him a regular next season. The show needs his humour in every episode.

I don't know if he was physically abused. He may have been emotionally neglected. His mother may have died when he was really young. His family was apparently under surveillance according to his bio so it wasn't a typical white picket fence upbringing. Maybe there were some traumatic events...
