I don't think it's about Mac giving Danny more attention. I think if he had taken Danny's personality into account and hadn't been as harsh with him he might have gotten the result he wanted - Danny staying out of things until Mac issued their preliminary report.

I'm thinking things are going to get worse before they get better. Unless something gives, I think Mac and Danny are heading for a blow out. Danny has screwed up a few times and Mac hasn't handled things in the best way.
