CSI: NY‘s Hill Harper is joining the upcoming fourth season of of USA’s drama series Covert Affairs as a new series regular alongside Piper Perabo, Christopher Gorham, Kari Matchett and Peter Gallagher. CSI:NY’s ninth season finale airs tonight on CBS, and by most accounts it will be a series finale as the CSI spinoff appears unlikely to return. CBS has not made a final decision, but I hear Harper’s deal was up at the end of this season, and he is moving on. He looked at a number of options, including pilots, but I hear he wanted to join a cable series that is on the air. Harper is a fan of Covert Affairs, and shares a bond with its creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord as all three went to Brown University.

The 16-episode Season 4 of Covert Affairs, which is currently filming in Toronto, picks up after CIA operative Annie (Perabo) and her longtime best friend and blind CIA tech-op Auggie (Gorham) finally acknowledge their romantic feelings for one another. Things get complicated at the agency, as Annie aligns with Henry Wilcox (recurring guest star Gregory Itzin) in a dangerous, covert mission involving Arthur (Gallagher) and Auggie that has potentially scandalous consequences for the CIA. Harper, repped by Innovative and Luber Roklin, will play an ambitious CIA station chief based in Latin America who is plotting his way into a bigger position back in Washington and seeks Annie and Auggie’s help, but his questionable actions will cause them to doubt his intentions. Covert Affairs, from Universal Cable Prods., is executive produced by Doug Liman, David Bartis, Corman and Ord.

At least they can acknowledge it this time...Melina leaving was unexpected so it wasn't handled well. I just wonder if we get a season 10 if we'll get a new character or more Levato or what. More Adam would be cool.

Read the two snipits from the two articles on the season finale. Not sounding to good. Just one more season... just one more.

I think we should all write CBS but idk if it'd do any good. At least we can say we tried though.

If we do manage one more season, I do hope the writers don't fall into the trap of "how many ways can we put the lead character's wife in danger and have him rescue her at the last minute"...once was enough, much as I love the ship. The original CSI hasn't fallen into it much with DB, though there was the granddaughter kidnap plot. Not everyone likes how he always mentions his wife/family though, 'cause the other characters don't get as much plot time. I hope everyone's equal here. At least we still wouldn't need to see Christine every ep.

I also see three ways they could start...with the wedding, with them having pulled a D/L and be already married (or even not pull a D/L and still have it done already) or still be planning. I have no clue which would work best. I do know that the Facebook article before last night's ep already had people saying "let's have M/C babies"...I wouldn't hate it if they did it, but I would strongly prefer they don't, especially with D/L already expecting a baby. Two would likely be overkill.

Not to mention, Mac is already 51 and even if Christine is 10 years younger than him, that's kinda old and really risky for her to have a baby....

Yeah we said that as well earlier.

Do we think it will be April or May before we know anything for sure? I know most decisions come down then. It would also make sense if CBS is waiting to see how the new show fares. i hope it does bomb, maybe we'll have a sliver more hope in that case.

I think it will be before May before we know anything for sure. And while writing might make you feel good, the cold hard truth that if it's an show that has been on the air for a long period of time, when the choice comes down to cancel the show, that is that.
