Who can tell me how to be a CSI?

I have watched CSI:NY for a period ,when watching ,an idea through my head:I want to be a CSI.
Is there anyone who wants to be CSI after watching ?
But how to be one ?I'll leave college next year.However ,my major is nothing with CSI or even police.
If I were a baby now,I would learn much knowledge about CSI at once.
I'm not afraid of bodies and ghosts ,so I think I tally with CSI's require^^
And ,is there anyone who's afraid when watching?

That's what I am going into in college. I am double majoring in Forensic Chemistry (lab work) and Criminal Justice and minoring in Psychology.

Buuut whenever I asked for help from my counselors on which route I should take they were never clear and never much help so I am going to do a job shadow and hopefully get the answers I need.

There are many different fields in the crime business. I think my cousin (whos husband owns Drake Investigations, a huge business that helps the defendants) said that to be a crime scene technician the people required little training.

But going to college couldn't hurt right?
 
What exactly do you want to do? If you simply want to analyse a crime scene (what CSIs really do) and that's it, then you'll mostly need field training. It's different if you want to be a lab technician or if you want to direct a crime lab
 
I would advise going into college in Criminal Justice. There are also programs as a "Crime Scene Tech". I don't know how it is elsewhere, In Memphis,The CSI's drive arround in Van's and take pictures of the Scene.
The problem is, (Not to deter you from following your dreams) but everyone and their mother wants to be in this field because of this show. Be fully educated on the in's and outs of the field of your choice. Good Hunting,and Good Luck!
 
I plan on going to college and majoring in Forensics and DNA Analysis[[Abby Scuito from NCIS is my hero]]. Then do Feild trianing.
 
I live in the UK, and I think it's different over here. Next year I will be going to college to study Applied Science (Forensic Science) Which means it's mainly science units (biology, chemistry, physics, law and psychology) with specialist forensic units such as Criminal Investigation Procedures, Forensic Fire Investigation, Introduction to Criminal Psychology and Biological Forensic Science.

If I pass this course, it will leave me open to work in any lab in my country, if I choose to leave the qualification there. If not I can then go on to study a range of subjects at University.

I think it depends where you are... I'm not quite sure.

I haven't quite decided yet. One with a good reputation and pass rate. Maybe Lincoln or Kent. I've heard Keele is quite good as well.
 
I know a guy who studies for CSI in Oclahoma(i may be wrong in the spelling of the state). It`s only for two years and then you get a Bacalavar degree :)
