Voting in Challenges - Read and Respond

For a while now, there has been a problem with challenge voting. There is a bias towards certain characters, and this is unfair. While it's great for people to have a favorite character, and to support that character, that isn't what these challenge are about.

These challenges, first and foremost, are about fun. But they're also about improving your art skills, learning new things, showing off what you can do, and yes, a bit of healthy competition. It is completely unfair for someone to continuously loose votes just because they prefer an unpopular character. Character choice has absolutely no reflection whatsoever on skill level.

Now, I realize that some people may not even realize that they are doing this. It's natural to be drawn to your favorite character. And sometimes those will be the best icons. But sometimes they won't. So here's a list of things that you should look at and ask yourself when deciding which icons to vote for.

Is the image clear?
Is the image too dark/too light?
Is the colouring too dull?
Is it blurry?
Is it oversharpened?
It the image well cropped?
Are there any special effects in the icon?
If so, do they fit with the image?
If there is text, is it readable? If not, is it meant to be that way?
Does the text fit with the image?

Of course, these are only guidelines. Naturally, not everyone will agree on which icons are best (otherwise, what would the point of the challenges be?). But these are just a few things to keep in mind when voting.

Right now, we (the mods) don't want to make any changes to the challenges. However, if the trend of biased voting continues, something will have to be done.
