Windy Reception For 'Miami' Shoot

CSI Files

Captain
The CSI: Miami crew swept into Delray Beach this Wednesday to film some location scenes for an upcoming episode, only to find the elements against them.

But, as they say, the show must go on. Seventy-five extras cavorted on the beach in bikinis and board shorts while the ominous, overcast sky loomed above them and harsh wind gusts churned up the sand, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

The extras were participating in a scene from the teaser of episode twenty-one, "Not Landing", in which a light aircraft crashes on a popular Miami beach. "The wind made it a little difficult, but it still looks great," Scott Shiffman, one of CSI: Miami's producers, told the newspaper.

On the day the beach-goers just had to look scared and run away from the plane, which will be digitally inserted in post-production. "The wreckage part on the beach is real, which we shot in L.A," Shiffman said. "The camera's on a computer-controlled head, so it makes the exact same movements. We'll shot three plates: one plain, one with people, and one with the sand. Then we'll put them all together."

All the extras involved in the shoot earned $75 for their non-speaking roles, though there was some ad-libbing going on. "I said, 'Oh my God' a few times. I don't know if I'll get upgraded for that," said extra Amy Simon.

"Not Landing" is currently scheduled to air on Monday, May 3. Further details on the shoot can be found at the Palm Beach Post and the Sun-Sentinel.

I didn't know extras got paid that much... I wonder how they give money out to really large groups of people.

Yeah. Not Landing. REAL imaginative...maybe its about...A PLANE!

Whatever. Sort of like with Bait. This one sounds boring. Hope I'm wrong.

Heh, they picked a bad day indeed. Bad luck too, as this is our dry season and we usually don't get crappy weather until summertime.

(I live about 25 minutes from Delray)
