After Grissom finished kissing Sara, the monkey landed on his face and ripped his nose off.
Ecklie called to ask for one of them to come back or he'd sue them both for quitting. Grissom and Sara had a contest to see who had to go back to work for a while and Sara lost.

I'm sure Grissom encouraged her to go, their both independent of one another and let the other one be free to pursue what they think is important at the time~And I think he'll show up in the May sweeps
