The Taylor Family 2

“Mommy, why are you so quiet tonight?” Sophia asked innocently.
Mac, Stella and their twins, William and Sophia, were having dinner together. It was a very precious family time. Although Mac and Stella were busy with work, they would have dinner with their kids as long as they could. They enjoyed the time with their kids. They would listen to their stories about school and friends. Enjoyed their laughter and forgot the ugly world for a while.
Tonight, Stella was distracted. She didn’t have much appetite. Mac kept the conversation with the kids and tried several times to catch her attention. She just ate quietly until Sophia decided to ask her directly.
“I’m sorry, honey. I have a headache. I want to lie down for a while. Be a good girl, finish your dinner and help Daddy to clean up the table. OK? You too, William.” Stella went to the bedroom.
Mac got in the bedroom after he tucked the kids in beds. Stella was lying with her back to the door. Mac sat on the bed and put a hand on her shoulder.
“Stella. Are you OK? Do you need anything?” Mac asked softly.
“I’m fine.” Stella didn’t turn around.
“You don’t have a headache, do you?” Mac sighed. “We agreed to separate work from home, remember?”
Stella didn’t answer.
“The way you’re pursuing the perp is too aggressive. I couldn’t agree with it. You made me no choice but to pull you out of the case. I wouldn’t sorry about that. Although you’re my wife and mother of my kids, I have to follow the protocols.”
Stella sat up. “I would’ve caught the son of the bitch if you didn’t follow your stupid protocols. You don’t trust me. Every time I want to do something my way, you just stopped me. Fine, you’re the boss. We’ll do it your way.”
“What are you talking about? We wouldn’t be partners for so many years if I don’t trust you. We wouldn’t be married if I don’t trust you. I trust you with my life. But I couldn’t agree with you when you’re out of the line, even though I love you.”
“I don’t know you love me or your protocols more.” Stella got out of the room.
“What the hell…” Mac punched the bed but didn’t chase his wife.
----------------------------------------
Stella stayed at her daughter’s room for the rest of the night. Sophia knew her mommy was upset. Although Mac and Stella lowered the voices when they were arguing, Sophia could barely hear them and she knew it was not a happy conversation. Her parents had never fought since she was born. She was growing up in an environment full of love. She wondered what she can help. She got up early when her mother was still sleeping and got into her brother’s room.
“William, William, wake up.”
“What?” William asked.
“I think Mommy and Daddy had a fight last night.”
“About what?”
“I don’t know. Mommy stayed at my room last night. She’s unhappy.”
“They’ll be fine, don’t worry.” William didn’t think a fight between his parents was such a big deal. He went back to sleep.
“Nooo. We must do something. I don’t like them unhappy.” Sophia insisted.
William sighed exactly like Mac. “What’s your plan?”
Sophia shrugged. “I don’t know. You tell me.”
William hit his forehead with his little hand.
----------------------------------------
“Stella.” Mac motioned Stella to come into his office.
“Sir?” Stella stood in front of the desk with her hands crossed.
Mac glanced at her. “We got a double homicide. You come with me.” He started to put on his coat.
“Sir. Can you take Danny?”
“Why?”
“Hmm…Nothing, sir. Sorry, sir.”
“Stella!” Mac sighed. “Fine. Take Danny.” He took off his coat and sat down.
“Thank you, sir.” Stella left. Mac shook his head and leaned back on his chair.
Danny met Stella at the car.
“Hey, what’s that ‘yes, sir’, ‘sorry, sir’ game? A husband-wife game?” Danny asked once they got into the car.
Stella glared at him.
“Did you notice those little lines at the corners of your mouth? You look ugly when you’re not smile.”
“Danny Messer!”
“Come on! Stell! You know he loves you. Don’t do this to him. It hurts.”
“I didn’t do anything. I just follow orders.”
“You know what? I would smack you if you’re not my boss.”
----------------------------------------
“Mommy, can you and Daddy bring us to the park?” Sophia asked when Stella was making a chicken casserole for dinner.
“To do what?”
“We need to bring some leaves with different shapes to school next Monday. We could pick the fallen leaves in the park.” William said.
“OK. If Daddy come home early and need not to go back to work, we can go to the park after dinner.”
“Thank you, Mommy.” The twins clapped their hands. They went to the sitting room.
“What’s your plan, William?”
“I don’t have one. I think they can talk then everything would be OK.”
“What? You don’t have a plan?”
“Shh…” William hushed his little sister when his mother came.
“What’s that little talk?” Stella asked.
“Nothing.” The twins shrugged at the same time.
“William?”
“Mom. Could we have some ice-cream on the way to the park?” William grinned.
----------------------------------------
The Taylors were in the park. Mac and Stella didn’t talk much in the last few days. They tried to act normal in front of the kids but their conversation was limited and there was not much smile and no kisses. Even two 7 years old knew something was not right between their parents. The twins tried to help by asking them to tell stories or play games together. But either of the adults was too stubborn to compromise. This fight was the biggest one since they knew each other.
The twins were scanning the area for different shapes of leaves when their parents sat on the bench watching them.
“Daddy, look. I got four leaves. They’re so beautiful. Mommy, are they beautiful?” Sophia sat on Mac’s lap and showed the leaves.
“Yes. How about your brother? Where’s William?” Stella got up and looked around. William was crouching under a tree. He was using a tree branch to stab the ground.
“William, what are you doing?” Stella and Mac approached.
“Mom. These ants are big.” William kept stabbing.
“No. Stop it. You shouldn’t hurt the ants.”
“I didn’t. I just stop them lining up.” William stopped.
Mac pulled his son away from the ants and patted his clothes to get rid of any ant that might climb up to the boy.
“It’s very dangerous to interrupt other species habitat. They might attack you as their enemies. Don’t ever do that again.” Mac explained to his son.
William nodded and went to join his sister.
Stella started to walk away but Mac pulled her back. “The same reason for me to stop you working on that case, honey. It was not just the protocols. I love you. I knew your actions would provoke the perp. They would use every method to stop you, even kill you. I wouldn’t bet your life on the job. Do you understand?”
Stella squeezed her husband’s hands. “I know. I’m too eager to get this guy. I don’t want to lose one more life.”
Mac held his wife in his arms. He wanted to do this so bad in the past few days.
“I’m so sorry for blaming you, Mac. I didn’t mean what I said. You know I love you, right?”
Mac didn’t answer but kissed her deeply. Their little angels were laughing and racing around them.
----------------------------------------
Mac came back to his bedroom after saying goodnight to the twins. The light in the room was out. There was a candle on the dressing-table. Stella was waiting for him in a little sexy nightgown.
“Are we celebrating something?” Mac asked after kissing his wife.
“Do we really need a reason?” Stella was playing with his earlobe.
“No. It’s just a little surprise to me.”
Stella sighed. “OK. I gave you quite a lot of hard time in the past few days. And I feel bad. And I want my husband to love me.”
“Hmm… Maybe I should piss you off more often.” Mac chuckled.
Stella pushed him onto the bed and sat on top of him. “Maybe you should.”
Sophia gasped at the doorway. Mac and Stella were surprised by the interruption.
Sophia turned and ran to her brother’s room. “WILLIAM! They’re fighting again!”
Mac and Stella looked at each other and burst into laughter.
“I’ll take care of it.” Mac got up to chase his daughter.
Stella wondered how he explained to the kids.

- THE END -

Very cute story hun, but don't stop there... I'd love to read more, it's very cute. :adore:

Dear Kikiii.. I was halfway exciting at the end and it was interupted by their twins. I love it.. Well done! First, we have the arguments, and the fireworks between them, the tension between them and as they are, a couple as in husband and wife, they sorted it out together. They knew what's the best for each other and the kids. Though all these arguments needs time to be settled out. I'm glad that they understood each other. Most couple were too hard headed. Mac and Stella are unique and special in every way. :) And the kids were soo cute.. Trying to cheer up their parents and trying to make them good together again. They're great! I love both Michael and Sophia. I'm still day dreaming about the end.. i love the ending..

Aww Kikii ! That was awesome, I love Sophia and William, just as clever as their parents :). I really hope there is going to be more. I wanna hear Mac explaining the kids the other 'fight'...
Great Job! :bolian:
