CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, the highest-rated show on television, will receive some new competition when FOX's new hit The O.C. moves into the same time slot in October.
Zap2It reports that The O.C. will switch days after a short hiatus, beginning October 30th. It will air Thursday nights at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
The O.C. currently airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m., but will move when 24 returns to broadcast, since 24 has been very successful for FOX in that timeslot.
CSI has a strong ratings lead over The O.C.. This week The O.C. earned a 6.0 rating/10 share, while a CSI rerun brought in a 9.7/15. This means that approximately 9.7\% of American households with television sets were tuned in CSI, while the episode was viewed by 15\% of households watching television at the time, as opposed to the 10 percent watching The O.C. in its broadcast hour.
"The O.C. is, without a doubt, the big story of the summer," said FOX Entertainment President Gail Berman.
Yet the network has placed it up against two of the most successful shows on TV: CSI on CBS and Will and Grace on NBC.
