The 'New York' Lab Gets A New Addition

CSI Files

Captain
<I>CSI: New York</I> will add a new investigator to the CSI team during season six.<p><I>New York</I> said goodbye to Jessica Angell (<font color=yellow>Emmanuelle Vaugier</font>) when the character was killed during the season five finale, <A class="link" HREF="http://www.csifiles.com/episodes/newyork/season5/pay_up.shtml">"Pay Up"</a>. Now the show is looking to shake the cast up a bit more with the news that a new woman will join the lab. Kaye Sullivan will become the newest member of Mac Taylor( <font color=yellow>Gary Sinise</font>)'s team.<p>Kaye is in her late 20s to early 30s, and she earned her graduate degree in forensic science two years ago. She will join the New York crime lab as a CSI. She asks a lot of questions because being a CSI is her dream career, and she is eager to learn as much as she can. However, she has quite a bit of textbook knowledge that helps her do her job. Kaye is sexy and funny, and she isn't afraid to take risks.<p>The news that <I>CSI: NY</I> is adding a cast member comes on the heels of the season five cliffhanger. In "Pay Up", the entire team met in a bar to toast Angell's memory, and an unidentified assailant opened fire on the group. As CSI Files previously <A class="link" HREF="http://www.csifiles.com/news/130509_03.shtml">reported</a>, the fate of one of <I>New York</I>'s main characters could be hanging in the balance. It is not known whether Kaye will replace a fallen CSI or add to the team's number.<p>The original information is from <A class="link" HREF="http://spoilertv-csi.blogspot.com/2009/06/exclusive-csi-ny-new-csi-being-cast.html">Spoiler TV</a>.<center></center>

Blech. I can't say I'm happy about this. She sounds like a Mary Sue. I thought they cut Angell because of budget cuts. Wouldn't adding this character just create more money to spend and totally defeat the purpose of having killed off Angell in the first place? I totally fail to see the purpose of killing off Angell before bringing in a new character in the first place, when Angell was received more positively. It seems like it would have made a lot more sense to just upgrade Angell to series regular.

Even if Lindsay is killed to bring a new character,I would not be happy.I really liked Angell so this makes her death ridiculous.Too bad they can not bring her back.

Unless another character dies (something which I highly doubt), I really don't understand this great idea of TPTB to add a new element especially since I too was convienced that they cut Angell because of budget cuts (at least that's what we've been told).
And I agree that in this case Angell's death would be ridiculous!

Yeah... they can't say that Angell (a recurring character) died because of budget cuts when they hire a new regular. I don't think I'll mind the new character, but unless someone dies in the premiere I'll be forced to dislike her on a matter of principle...

I normally like to give the characters a chance, but I agree that if no one else - well mostly if Lindsay - doesn't die/leave before they add this newcomer I'll have an extremely hard time liking her because they said they cut Angell due to budget cuts. It may be the thing that makes me actually stop watching instead of just threatening to stop watching. :shifty:

Perhaps Lindsay will see how dangerous this line of work is and will resign to care for Lucy and make room for this new person? One can always hope....

I'm confused. First they let go of the actress who played Angell for 'budget' reasons and they hire a new actress. Angell was a very popular character? Why get rid of her?

Vagier is a very talented woman, however, she will find another gig soon enough.
