I was shopping at a store called Restoration Hardware the other day and I saw a magnifying glass that looked a lot like the one used on CSI:NY. I went ahead and bought one to compare. After watching closely on One Wedding and a Funeral, I'm now pretty (maybe 80%) sure it's the same magnifier. Both have an LED light and are missing the rim (the lens is held directly to the handle). However I would like to know if anybody else can confirm it.

nat, I've edited your post to replace the Danny image with a link as it was a little too large and was stretching the screen. But, I agree, the two do look very similar. They're quite pretty magnifying glasses actually...
Thanks for the screencap. Now I'm sure they are the same magnifier. The lens are the right size alright but its the placement of the LEDs and the battery placement (as seen by the round area with the screws) confirms it. The on switch is also in the same place. Sweet I did get the same magnifier .
