I already posted this on CSI: NY and the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation forums.

Post UNKNOWN or LITTLE KNOWN facts about CSI: Miami or the cast. la dee da.

    I'll start first.

The sunglasses he wears are a pair of Silhouette Titanium Model 8568 with special dark polarized lenses. He does this trademark thing by putting them on and taking them off a few times in an episode.

As well, as his hands-on-the-hips thing.

Now, it's your turn. Post any other facts that you know of. :)

I read in an article awhile back that sudoku had to be banned from the set because everyone became slightly too addicted to the game between takes.

ETA: Oh and in another article I read with Rory Cochrane, Speed was originally supposed to have played football at college -linebacker I think- and that's how the nickname "Speed" came from but Rory said after he was cast, that didn't stick.

    From IMDB.com :

Sela Ward was offered the role of Megan Donner but turned it down.

The Miami-Dade Police Department's crime lab really is called Crime Scene Investigations.

While all the fly-over shots, skylines and cityscapes really are of Miami, Florida, any beach scenes during the series were filmed at Manhattan Beach, a suburb of Los Angeles.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2000) star William L. Petersen was offered the chance to produce this show, but declined.

Believing that CSI copycat shows were inevitable, CSI producers and CBS agreed to create this spin-off series in the hope of being the first to copy the original CSI series.

The design of the autopsy theatre was based on a misremembering of a set from The Andromeda Strain (1971).

Horatio was named after the poet Horatio Alger.

Errors in geography: In many exterior scenes, California hills are visible in the background. South Florida is mostly flat.

I got one: Horatio Caine is the only character to have appeared in all three CSI shows. Both DC and Carmine Giovinazzo have appeared in all three, but since CG didn't play the same char in CSI LV, Horatio remains the only character.

Horatio's last name was supposed to be Sands, but they didn't want the name to be confused with Horatio Sanz of Saturday Night Live.

DC gets about 250 pairs of those sunglasses at the beginning of each season.

Despite his character's ethnic background and his own ethnic background, Adam Rodriguez is barely fluent in Spanish.

That's so strange isn't it? I mean, most parents go to great lenghts to make sure their kids grow up bilingual if they have that opportunity.

Maybe Adam was the rebellious kind?

I was very surprised myself. After all he's 3/4 Puerto Rican and 1/4 Cuban in real life. And I can say from personal experience that when one grows up in a Hispanic household (I'm a 100% Puerto Rican) maintenance for one's culture is something very important.

Perhaps he did rebel - I know I went through a period where I distanced myself from doing anything Spanish related... maybe I'll send my old high school Spanish text books to CBS to pass along to Adam, haha.

    Sorry for going OT.
