NEW YORK, May 19, 2016 — The CW Network presented its 2016-17 schedule to advertisers, affiliates and national media at New York City Center in New York City today, kicked off by the rock band Fitz and the Tantrums performing their hit singles "Handclap" and "The Walker."
"We have four terrific additions to our schedule next season, and five great anchors at eight o'clock, every night of the week," said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.
"The CW has become known as the home of the best, most creative series on broadcast television, in a range of genres that appeal to the most balanced audience of any broadcast network, and the series we have for next season will absolutely continue to fit that bill.
"We are thrilled to have SUPERGIRL on The CW this fall, joining our popular roster of DC heroes. Plus, we have three new series lined up for next season that perfectly fit our brand, with the smart, charming comedy NO TOMORROW and the high-stakes drama FREQUENCY this fall, and the subversive take on small-town life, RIVERDALE, at midseason. With these four new series added to the strongest, most competitive schedule we have ever had, The CW just keeps getting better."
The CW also announced today that starting this fall, The CW app will be available to more than 80 million devices on mobile, tablet, and all major OTT platforms, making it even easier to stream The CW's primetime series for free and without need for authentication.
Also launching later this year is a new vertical on CWTV.com, CW Good, which highlights the causes that The CW's stars and fans are passionate about, will launch in August. It will be highlighted by the new series MY LAST DAYS, an inspiring docuseries about how to truly live, as told by those who are dying. Hosted by JANE THE VIRGIN star Justin Baldoni, MY LAST DAYS features the stories of six real-life superheroes who remind us that having a limited amount of time doesn't mean you can't make a profound impact on others. MY LAST DAYS will premiere on The CW Network in August, concurrent to its launch as a digital series on CW Good. CW Good content was created in partnership with Wayfarer Entertainment. The second season of MY LAST DAYS was created by Justin Baldoni and produced by Wayfarer Entertainment, in association with SoulPancake, actor Rainn Wilson's media company.
The CW will launch its 2016-17 broadcast season in October, with premiere dates to be announced later.
