The Big Apple To Be The Home Of Third 'CSI' Show

CSI Files

Captain
CBS has selected New York City as the location for the third CSI spinoff, which will likely debut this fall.

Both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed that CBS head Les Moonves will make the official announcent on Saturday at the Television Critics Association press tour. Anthony Zuicker, CSI: Crime Scene Investigations's creator, will create the show, expected to be entitled CSI: New York and co-write the pilot with Ann Donahue and Carol Mendelsohn. Along with Jerry Bruckheimer, all three will serve as executive producers.

CBS Productions, Alliance Atlantis, and Bruckheimer Films will produce the show, with Zuicker heading up production. Mendelsohn will continue to run CSI, while Donahue will stay on as the head of CSI: Miami.

Serious consideration for a third CSI show began in November of last year (story). At the time, Moonves announced that four cities were being considered. Later on down the line, two front runners emerged: New York and New Orleans.

Ok, I would have selected New Orleans over New York, because its not over done. But I do see one advantage to New York. We can have people freeze out in the snow now. Personally I would like to know what the other two cities were.

I think that New York is getting so freakin' old. What with
all three Law&Orders and the possible 4th one. And Friends,
and Seinfeld, and Third Watch, The Sopranos and alot of news
casters or whatever being set, in New York. There is alot
more shows, and everybody knows it. But there is just so many I can't name them all. Although I would like to see what they would do about snow, because I'm sure that they have a whole other approach. But if you look at shows done in New Orleans... hmmmmm, anyone? Anyone? I'm serious!
The only t.v shows that show New Orleans is 'Cops' during
Marti gras. Which would have been interesting to see
on CSI, dag nabbit!

P.S. And Oh God it's already begun!!!!!!

P.P.S. /showid-24125/ is also in the link, so I guess you'll
have to type it in yourself.

P.P.P.S. I'm not even sure it will work, but if it
doesn't... TVTome has all the info on every show, and it has both CSI's listed well I went there today, and
CSI: New York was also listed!!!!!!! Ughhhh!!!!

Or they have political views of the French that could lead to problems with demographics... that could go for virtually any foreign country.

I am not all up for the NY thing, as many above have stated: It's overdone. It really is. I prefer the New Orleans idea.

First of all I want to say hello to all the CSI fans out there and this is my first post in this BB.

I personally didn't like either idea. I do think like the others that NY is over done. I felt that New Orleans is too close to Miami and that a location other than the south or southwest was needed. I was hoping that Detroit, Indianapolis, Chicago would have been a few decent choices. You would have to deal with the Midwest, snow, Lake Michigan if in Chicago, the 500 for Indy, gangs in Detroit...the list is endless.

Bad call...this show won't be picked up and it's not likely to last the season.

This has to be the dumbest call I've seen since Fox cancelled Firefly.

Stoopid, stoopid, stoopid...

So wrong. Too many shows in NY. I thought that was the point, using some "new" city. They may kill whole CSI thing with too many spin offs, people get tired with CSI, now that even NCIS tries to copy CSI (Forgive me my bad English). I wonder when they'll tell about the cast? I'll crack up if Jimmy Smits is in it. Didn't they want him to CSI Miami?

Maybe they're trying to appeal to the worldwide audience  Over here in England, nowhere apart from London is usually recognised overseas..I think that's probably the reasoning behind it, rightly or wrongly...
just my two cents worth.. They probably want an instantly worldwide recognised place to fill up the opening credits.

Either that, or they can throw Zuiker spectacularly off the Brooklyn bridge if the show bombs.....

Not to the extent of Las Vegas and certainly not to the extent of New York....That was my point......
