There are plenty of news stories out there since the first earthquake shook Haiti, of stars donating money, doing telethons, raising money, etc. This thread is for the discussion of the events and so on. This isn't about one event or one star, or who gave more, etc. But rather all our favorite stars using their celebrity to garner support along with them.

We do ask that if you go to post a story, that you post a link to the site, and give a brief snip of what the story is about.

    Thank you.

The one that leaps to mind is Misha Collins. He posted a tweet on his Twitter feed calling for all his followers, or "minions", as he calls them, to donate to UNICEF at his team fundraising page. The goal (set by Misha) was to raise $8... so far, the donations are totaling nearly $27k. :D

TvGuide Online: "Hope for Haiti" Now Telethon Takes Over TV for Earthquake Relief
"The Haitian people need our help," said George Clooney, to begin Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief. "They need to know that they are not alone. They need to know that we still care."

EW: 'Hope For Haiti Now': The telethon's 10 best performances
George Clooney-organized, multi-network Hope For Haiti Now telethon was a subdued, classy affair, thankfully free of any awkward “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” moments. In all, the two-hour telecast included 19 musical performances, most of which were terrific. (You can download them all, by the way, on iTunes.)

Yahoo News: Stars unite to help Haiti in telethon
Though the all-star telethon was titled "Hope for Haiti Now," for most of its two hours, it was filled with tear-jerking, depressing moments, from mournful songs and grim-faced pleas from celebrities to the suffering faces of the quake-battered victims themselves.

Because my last post is a little longer with many links... I just wanted to add this about the telethon that George Clooney put on.

All-star Haiti telethon raises $57 million, so far (these are snips of the article).
"NEW YORK – Organizers for the all-star "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon say the event raised $57 million — and counting.
The total released Saturday includes money raised by phone, text and the Web. It does not include donations by corporations or via iTunes, where people are able to buy performances of the event for 99 cents each, or the entire album for $7.99. Those funds also go to Haiti relief."

Stars gather to cover 'We Are the World' for Haiti

Twenty-five years after star-studded anthem "We Are the World" raised millions of dollars to aid famine relief in Africa, celebrities of a different generation were set to gather Monday night to re-record the charity tune to benefit Haiti.
Among those scheduled to perform on the revamped track the night after the Grammy Awards were Akon, Jason Mraz, Bono, Wyclef Jean, Carlos Santana, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, Toni Braxton and Lady Gaga. The session will be held at the same recording studio where the original was cut — the historic A&M complex in Hollywood.

Side note: There are more not named to be named later.

My local news named a few more... among them are a returning Bruce Springsteen (who sang on the original version) as well as Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake. They might have named others, but those are the only ones whose names I caught.
