New information has surfaced for all three members of the <I>CSI</I> franchise regarding the upcoming season. Spoilers ahead!<p><ul><li> The dominatrix Lady Heather (<font color=yellow>Melinda Clarke</font>) will return in the fifth episode of <I>CSI: Crime Scene Investigation</I>'s ninth season. (<A class="link" HREF="http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2008/07/talking-csi-cha.html">Source</a>)<p><li> According to <A class="link" HREF="http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/07/exclusive-csi-m.html">Ausiello</a>, <font color=yellow>Megalyn Echikunwoke</font> will be playing the new coroner on <I>CSI: Miami</I>.<p><li> <font color=yellow>John Malkovich</font> was approached to play the <A class="link" HREF="http://www.csifiles.com/news/180708_01.shtml">new male character</a> on <I>CSI</I>, but things didn't work out. (<A class="link" HREF="http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2008/07/talking-csi-cha.html">Source</a>)<p><li> Speaking of the new character, he will have "a genetic complex, a number of different genes and elements, that have been correlated with criminal behavior," according to executive producer <font color=yellow>Naren Shankar</font>. The character will study criminals to explore who he is:<p><dl><dt><dd><font color=yellow>In a sense it's like holding up a mirror to himself, but in an exciting and interesting way -- it's a new career… It's really about a guy exploring who he is, trying to use the world of solving murders and violent killers to understand his own soul.</font></dl></dt><p>The original information is from the <A class="link" HREF="http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2008/07/talking-csi-cha.html">Chicago Tribune</a><p><li> <I>CSI: New York</I> will welcome a new recurring character in the form of Samantha Flack, the sister of resident detective Don Flack (<font color=yellow>Eddie Cahill</font>). Samantha will be played by <font color=yellow>Kathleen Munroe</font>, and executive producer <font color=yellow>Pam Veasey</font> described the character as "a bad girl." Veasey went on to say, "She's trouble. It's a great dynamic." (Source: <A class="link" HREF="http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/07/post.html">Ausiello</a>)<p><li> Even though <I>CSI</I> is bringing in several new characters, it's not an attempt to replace Gil Grissom (<font color=yellow>William Petersen</font>). "It's about adding elements that will contribute to the alchemy of the show that made it what it is today," CBS Entertainment president <font color=yellow>Nina Tassler</font> <A class="link" HREF="http://www.canada.com/topics/entertainment/television/story.html?id=3c691bb6-e024-4e5f-9b8e-24675b3062cc">explained</a>. Petersen will remain on the show as an executive producer, and Tassler said Grissom isn't gone for good: "We haven't seen the last of him."<p><li> According to <A class="link" HREF="http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2008/07/talking-csi-cha.html">TV Watcher</a>, the seventh episode of <I>CSI</I> will revolve around the Miniature Killer, Natalie (<font color=yellow>Jessica Collins</font>).</ul><center></center>
 
Absolutely great that Melinda Clarke is returning to CSI. She was great in her last four episodes, and I look forward to seeing what she brings to the table this time.
