CBS Friday enlisted a new recruit for CSI: Miami's sophomore season.

Actress Sofia Milos, who plays the recurring role of Detective Yelina Salas, will become a regular fixture on the show next year, trade paper Variety reported. Milos fills the void left by Kim Delaney (Megan Donner), who washed out after only ten episodes.

Salas, who is the sister-in-law of lead CSI Horatio Caine, made her debut in "Simple Man" in February. The character has since appeared in "Dispo Day" and will return again in Monday night's "Double Cap" and "Grave Young Men" later in the season.

CSI: Miami initially garned criticism when it premiered last year because it only had one Latino character in its regular cast - Adam Rodriguez's Eric Delko - even though over half the population of Miami is Hispanic. The promotion of Milos's Latina detective to a full-time cast member could be an attempt to redress the balance, even though the actress herself is half-Greek, half-Italian.

Milos's pre-Miami credits include the role of Julia Karinsky in the third season of Caroline in the City and guest apperances in Mad About You, ER and The Sopranos. The actress, who speaks six languages fluently, most recently starred in the films The Cross and Passionada opposite Jason Isaacs (The Patriot).
