Captain
Hello World!
I hope everybody had a nice weekend. Mine was very interesting, to put it mildly. Let me just say that when your mother isn't all 'there' (and I mean mentally), be careful about the way you complain about being tired in front of her. Last Monday she called me at work to tell me we should go to New York:
Carolina: Okay, let me check the fares for next month.
Mama Carolina: Next month? Honey, I already made reservations for now.
Which freaked me out a bit, because my anal retentiveness prevents me from being spontaneous. I have to plan things, otherwise I can't relax. But she actually dragged me there without winter clothing, without... clothes, basically. We had nothing in our suitcase but two toothbrushes and my camera (which I take wherever I go). I had to buy clothes there because I live in Puerto Rico and all I wear is sandals. But as it turns out, we had a lot of fun together, and I got the chance to see my family, which is always a plus (as long as the visits don't last more than two, three minutes). I got to take some nice photographs (which was the highlight of the trip for me). I've uploaded some of them onto my webpage, in case any of you are interested in seeing them.
I got all excited when a friend and I were walking through Central Park and saw something being filmed in the distance. For a moment my heart stopped at the possibility of actually getting to see the one and only Gary Sinise, who I love without reservations. But alas, it was not CSI: New York they were filming but the pilot for a new CBS series called Commuters. One of the grips we talked to described it as, "Desperate Housewives, but in New York City." They actually gave us the chance to be extras in the scene, so if CBS does pick up this show and you watch the pilot, don't laugh too hard at the lady clutching the Jamba Juice cup.

Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) told Playboy magazine everything about her co-workers' strength and weaknesses, how much fun she has on the set, and how CSI has taught her to live for the moment. "It's left me believing that if it's your day, it's your day," said the actress. "I'm not stupid about my own safety, but I'd never want to be paranoid either. Death is very close to life. It's always hovering closer than we'd like to think. But it doesn't scare me."
[*]'CSI' Final Ratings Lead CBS To Win
CSI and CSI: Miami became the little shows that could two years ago, when they helped propell CBS into the number one spot at the ratings battle. CSI's episode "Precious Metal" received a 16.6 rating/25 share, while Miami's "Double Cap" received an 11.4/19. "Fortunately for CBS, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation remains red-hot on Thursday nights, nearly doubling the average for NBC's tandem of Will And Grace and Good Morning, Miami against it," said Brian Lowry of The Los Angeles Times.[/list]

"When a 16-year-old contortionist is found dead and stuffed into a small box washed ashore on a Coney Island beach, Mac and Stella question the victim’s family and their rivals -- trapeze artists who compete for attention as the circus’ main act. Meanwhile, a large pool of blood in a New York apartment leads Danny and Det. Flack to a dead woman disposed of in the building’s trash chute."

"The CSI team investigates a transgender woman found brutally stabbed and mutilated. This leads the team into the fringe world of sex changes and transgenders in order to catch a killer."

[*]Please note that CBS is pre-empting CSI: Miami tonight for the NCAA Basketball Championship game. Instead, the network will air a rerun of "Cop Killer" on Saturday night at 9/8c. Here's a preview:

"During a routine traffic stop, a police officer is murdered and now Horatio and the team must track down the killer. The only witness to the murder is a civilian who was doing a ride-along with the officer, but who is now missing. Roadside evidence leads the CSIs to Missy Marshall, a teenage girl who was with the killer at the time of the murder. However, as the team searches for the civilian and the killer, they find that Missy may have been more involved with killer and the shooting than she is admitting. Meanwhile, Horatio and Rebecca's relationship is in jeopardy when they don't see eye to eye on a case."
