CSI Files
Captain
<font size="3">Hello World!</font>
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami are both generally serious shows, but every once in a while you get that odd episode that's just, well, odd. Take CSI's "Fur and Loathing," which was just rerun this past Thursday.
The episode, for those of you who haven't seen it, revolves around the murder of a man in a racoon suit. He's traced back to a "plushies" convention, a gathering of people who like dressing up as animals and, for a lack of a better term, frolicking. The plushies attend lectures, walk the runway in a fashion show, and get close in a big cuddle pile.
A quick search of Google reveals that the concept of plushies didn't come from writer <font color=yellow>Jerry Stahl</font>'s mind. Plushies are apparently categorized on Yahoo! in the Sexual Fetish directory.
It just goes to show you learn something everyday. After all, we often see tidbits like this in episodes of CSI and Miami. Before watching Miami, I didn't know people went to clubs to eat special ants or honey. Prior to seeing CSI's fourth season finale, I'd never heard of the term "chimera" outside of mythology. I had no idea it was a medical term as well. It's all part of what make these shows so much fun--the writers really do their homework.
