Hello World!
It took me three years and five books, but Harry Potter fandom has finally happened to me.
Understand that I read the books aloud to my sons. I had them firmly situated in my mind under the "children's books' heading. Which was silly — I still reread Madeleine L'Engle and the Narnia books regularly. But I just didn't think about them very much, you know? Even after the first movie, which I saw three times on the big screen. Even though I am called upon to play Harry Potter Uno and the Harry Potter equivalent of Clue regularly.
It was The Tragic Death Of That Person In Order of the Phoenix that pushed me over the edge. As soon as he was gone, I realized that I adored him. And that I'd really been enjoying the books since Prisoner of Azkaban, not only as something I shared with my kids but on their own merits. I'm partial to the adult wizards, especially the ex-Marauders, but I'm pretty fond of Harry, Hermione and Ginny too.
And I can't even describe my thrill at discovering the number of fan fiction archives devoted to the series. Sure, canon is fine, but it's what happens in other people's imaginations that always really interests me about any media phenomenon.

Tonight at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, CBS will show "Breathless" on CSI Miami. Here's the official synopsis of the episode:

The naked body of a male stripper who performed during a private party at a Coconut Grove estate is found the next morning in a nearby rose garden, and the CSIs have difficulty determining the cause of death. Meanwhile, Megan investigates the case of a male swimmer who suddenly dropped dead after climbing aboard a boat seven miles out in the Atlantic.

Friday night at 11 p.m. Eastern Time, Spike TV will rerun CSI's pilot episode. Here is a summary of the episode:

Grissom (William Petersen) investigates the apparent suicide of a distraught man found shot to death in a bathtub. Grissom, however, believes the man may have been murdered. Other cases include a suburban shooting death (that may or may not have been self-defense) in which the victim's shoe holds the key piece of evidence; and a robbery committed in a ritzy casino hotel by a prostitute who drugged her target. Also, a rookie investigator (Chandra West) endures a rough first night that ends in bloodshed.

Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the CSI episode "A Little Murder" will rerun on CBS. The official synopsis states:

Grissom suspects murder, not suicide, when the body of a dwarf is found hanging from a rope high above a stage in a casino hotel where a convention of little people is being held. Across town, Catherine is attacked at a crime scene where a man was murdered during what appears to have been a home robbery.
