Hello World!
The Tour de France started this Saturday, and as every year, I'm taking part in a fantasy Tour de France game sponsored by a local Dutch newspaper. The game involves picking ten riders to be part of an imaginary team, and getting points every time they win a stage. Unfortunately, the game's immediately managed to lay bare some severe moral defects on my side.
Yesterday, the stage seemed set for a classic mass sprint, with thirty or more sprinters all trying to get over the finish line just a split second ahead of each other. In the mass insanity, one of the riders crashed down a few hundred meters before the finish, and dozens of riders all fell on top of each other. It was a horrible crash, even forcing some riders to leave the race altogether - but what was my first reaction? "Thank heavens, none of my riders have been injured."
Today, the big hero of the second stage of the Tour was Frederic Finot, a French rider who together with another rider broke away from the main pack after only seven kilometers. The two rode alone for more than 170 kilometers, after which the other rider had to give up, but Finot still managed to push forward. All the television commentators were cheering on Finot as the main pack was rapidly closing in on him - but all I could do was hope he'd indeed be caught, so one of the cyclists on my team would win.
It's a good thing no actual money is involved in the Fantasy Tour - seeing my reactions over the past few days, I fear I might then get obsessed enough to travel to France and do real physical damage to all the riders not on my team.

Tonight at 9:00pm, CBS will repeat the CSI: Miami episode "Losing Face". Here's the episode's official synopsis:

A necklace bomb explodes, killing a Colombian businessman and a bomb technician who was Horatio's former mentor. The murders cause Horatio to become emotionally involved in the case, which worries Megan, especially after a second bomb is discovered.

On Thursday at 9:00pm, CBS will be showing a repeat of CSI's "Crash and Burn". Here's a reminder of what that episode was about:

Sara's personal life takes a hit when she investigates a deadly car crash. The accident is a bizarre and seemingly random one involving an elderly woman who killed and injured several people when she drrove her car through the front of a bar crowded with happy-hour patrons. Among those hurt is Sara's EMT boyfriend, Hank. While Sara is rocked by his injury at first, she soon manages to work the case in her usual professional manner. But her emotions begin to get the best of her once again as she learns disturbing news about Hank's presence in the bar. Elsewhere, a woman dies of carbon-monoxide poisoning, and Grissom quickly decides it was no accident.

And finally, in a new timeslot on Friday at 11:00pm, TNN will be showing the second-season CSI episode "Stalker":

Jane Galloway lives in fear. Her doors are triple-locked. Every shade is drawn. The bathroom window is nailed shut. An alarm system is activated. But none of Jane's precautions keep a stalker from killing her. When the CSIs arrive at the scene, they discover the victim with her hair dyed and her face shoved in a toilet. The sickening image hits a nerve for Nick, but he's unsure why. And the case leaves the team with two mysteries to address: Who killed Jane, and how could the murderer have possibly entered, and left, the house?
