"Seeing Red" Discussion **SPOILERS**

Catherine - Blood Spatter Analysis
In the booklet that goes with the CSI PC game "3 Dimensions of Murder", it lists CSI Personnel and has their specialties. It has "blood-splatter analysis" listed as Catherine's specialty. Is there a difference between blood spatter and blood splatter? For Sara in that game booklet, they have "Materials and element analysis" listed as her specialty. I guess that's the long way of saying "trace" LOL. I don't know why they didn't just put "trace" lol.

I enjoyed the episode but agree that there should be two crimes to investigate.

And I'm not really sure I understand 'why' they brought Finn in. It seems to me that the other CSI's have been perfectly capable of analyzing blood spatter before. I'm not sure what made this so tricky that they needed an 'expert'. I guess they just wanted a story to introduce her. I didn't find it particularly believable though. I think I might like Finn but I hope she tones down the flirty/smiles/cockiness going forward.

And as for Nick bonding with the killer...to be fair, he didn't know he was the killer. He thought he was the victim. Once he realized it he walked away from him. Just as he should.

Pretty good episode overall though.

In a way,Nick did walk away..also knowing that the killer has no idea of what he did..and that perhaps never will.

I can't help noticing that this is the only CSI where there are specialties...I don't recall Miami having any, and I know New York doesn't, though some of them have more knoweledge in some areas than others.

Actually in Miami I think it goes like this:

Calleigh: ballistics
Eric: fingerprints
Natalia: DNA
Ryan: trace (though I'm not 100% sure)

I didn't know about Cath's specialty. I would've liked if throughout the seasons each character were given certain moments were we were reminded of their specialty.

Miami does. Ryan is a trace specialist (I think) and Natalia's is DNA. According to the booklet for the Miami PC game, here are the others:

Horatio = Arson and explosives expert

Eric = fingerprints, drug identification

Calleigh = ballistics/firearms

Speedle = Trace, impressions evidence and audio visual analysis

Not sure about Megan, Jesse or Walter. I think they should also have added something about underwater evidence recovery for Eric cause he's done that a lot.

hahahahaha that ending! What a name...I googled it and the only thing that comes up is an artist with it for a last name.
Richard Diebenkorn was a West Coast painter, born in Portland, Oregon, and lived from 1922 t0 1993. D.B. had hippie/artsy parents and they may have named him for this painter. Or not. :)
A website dedicated to him and his work is here: Richard Diebenkorn

I thought it was pretty cool that after all this time with Greg being a CSI, he is still considered the best DNA expert!

I liked Julie, think she will fit in well.

This episode was ok. Might be my least favorite so far. I agree with those who said Julie seems a bit too cocky. If that's her nature than that's fine. I just don't want it all the time. That will be very annoying and get on my nerves. I'm glad Greg got the recognition and that Sara was in this episode. I have to rewatch it to remember specifics, but my favorite part was learning DBs real name. Made the episode for me :)

I agree, Greg rarely gets the credit and its nice to see him getting props for a change.

Not sure what to make of Julie yet. I liked her in some scenes but then I found her a bit try-too-hard in others. I'm gonna hold my judgement until I see another few episodes.

Still loving DB though! :)
