The explosive power of people's secrets and lies will once again take center stage in season two of ABC's hit drama, Secrets and Lies. No matter who you are, everyone has secrets and everybody tells lies. What will people do to keep their most intimate, devastating indiscretions from ruining their lives?

The unflappable and formidable Detective Andrea Cornell (Juliette Lewis) is back. She is the smartest person in the room — always. But that isn't to say that she isn't hiding something behind that slight hint of sadness in her eyes and a deceptive look of disconcerting calm. Once she has a suspect in her crosshairs, she doesn't let go.

Secrets and Lies is an American mystery anthology television series based on the Australian television series of the same name, and developed for American television by Barbie Kligman. Secrets and Lies premiered on ABC on March 1, 2015.

The first season centers on Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe), who becomes the prime suspect in the death of a young boy. The second season follows Eric Warner (Michael Ealy), a newly married heir to his family's private equity firm, when his wife Kate is murdered. Juliette Lewis co-stars as Detective Andrea Cornell, who is investigating both cases.

The series was renewed for a second season on May 7, 2015. The second season has been announced for ABC's fall 2016 lineup and will premiere on September 25, 2016.

Secrets and Lies was given its initial 10-episode series commitment in October of 2013. Barbie Kligman was brought in as executive producer and showrunner while the producers from the original series, Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield, serve as executive producers. On May 9, 2014, Secrets and Lies was picked up by ABC to air as a mid-season entry during the 2014–15 season.

plot summary
Season one
Ben Crawford is a self-employed decorator, married to Christy with whom he has two daughters, Natalie, 16, and Abby, 12. His best friend, Dave, lives in their summer house. While out for an early morning run, Ben discovers the body of five year old Tom, son of neighbor Jess, estranged from husband Scott, who is in the military. Tom was evidently taken from his bed into the woods, and killed by six blows to the head from a flashlight. Detective Cornell is convinced Ben is the killer; he cannot prove his innocence as he had been out drinking with Dave following a fight with Christy over her suspicion of an affair with Jess, and suffered a blackout. The Crawford's suffer media intrusion and are shunned by the community; a misunderstanding leads to a falling-out with Dave. Tom was in fact Ben's son, the result of a one-night affair, only revealed to him after DNA tests by police. Ben conducts his own investigations, leading to false accusations against Scott and other neighbors. He is manipulated by one reporter, Arthur, who is looking to take down Cornell, and kidnapped by a neighbor, Kevin, a former CIA operative, who attempts to extract a confession through torture. The rift with Dave is repaired only after he confesses to spiking his drink, and together they retrace his steps. It's enough to convince Cornell to consider other suspects, although by this time Ben's marriage has fallen apart. After sleeping with Jess once more, Ben discovers she is bipolar; convinced she is the killer and wrongly assuming she has now kidnapped Abby, she counters that with a false accusation of rape. Independently of each other, Cornell and Ben discover the awful truth that Tom was killed by Abby. She confesses to her family that it was an accident, a failed plan to hide Tom for a short while to make it appear he was missing, to induce Scott to come home and prevent her father leaving for Jess. Ben decides to confess to the murder to protect Abby, despite the protestations of Cornell, who is convinced Abby will kill again and vows to put her away. Abby reveals her plan all along had been to drown Tom, in the hope it would make Jess move away.

Season two
Eric Warner (Michael Ealy), a newly married heir to his family's private equity firm, is under suspicion from Detective Cornell when his wife Kate (Jordana Brewster) is murdered.

The explosive power of people's secrets and lies will once again take center stage in season two of ABC's hit drama "Secrets and Lies," focusing on a brand-new case and a new suspect in another 10-episode thrilling who-done-it, premiering on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 (9:00-10:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network.

Eric Warner (Michael Ealy) is at the top of his game. Smart, well-educated and hardworking, he is the heir apparent to his family private equity firm in Charlotte, North Carolina. Newly married to "the one" and walking on air, Eric is flush with success, but all of that is about to change.

In the premiere, "The Fall," Eric is attending a party to honor his dad passing over the reins of the company to him, when suddenly tragedy strikes. Eric's smart and beautiful wife, Kate Warner (Jordana Brewster), is found dead, and life, as he knows it, is over. Overseeing the case is the unflappable and formidable Detective Andrea Cornell (Juliette Lewis). She immediately puts the grieving husband in her crosshairs, but, as always, secrets seep out about this seemingly perfect family and turn their world upside down. As Eric battles to prove his innocence and save the family's company, he discovers that his beloved Kate and the rest of his family are not who they appeared to be.

Detective Cornell also has cast a wide net over the whole Warner family. There's Eric's charming and lovable finance-magnate father, John Warner (Terry O'Quinn). The father of three children, he built his private equity firm on a model of honesty and morality, but Kate's death puts his succession plans on hold, and he may find that his stunning business achievement is really a house of cards.

Amanda Warner Young (Mekia Cox), Eric's sister, married to a prominent Charlotte surgeon, is working as a criminal attorney for the Public Defender's office. She is well versed in what happens when Detective Cornell targets someone and is fiercely protective of Eric.

Patrick Warner (Charlie Barnett) is the youngest child in the family, working side-by-side with his father and brother as an analyst in the company. He is a lovable loser – and a functioning alcoholic – who has had to live in Eric's shadow all of his life.

Danny (Kenny Johnson) is not a part of the Warner family, but he is complicating Eric's already complex life. Burdened with his own secrets and lies, Danny, who is also a possible suspect in Kate's death, is on a mission, and he will stop at nothing until it is complete.

The Warner family members aren't the only ones hiding secrets. Detective Cornell must deal with her own dark revelations.
