After much discussion in the general Greg/Sara thread, it was decided we needed a thread just to post our favorite Sandle songs.

    So, here it is.

Here we can talk about all the songs that remind us of Greg and Sara, seperate or together. Songs we think they'd listen too or that remind us of them. Pretty much anything about a song and remotely about our ship. :)

So um...yeah, here it is. (I'm so lame!)

Lovely! There are so many great songs that scream "Sandle", we really needed this thread.

Well, my fav Sandle song I already posted in the other thread, but this is a new thread so I might as well post it again.

    "More Than Anyone"
    by Gavin DeGraw

    You need a friend
    I'll be around
    Don't let this end
    before I see you again
What can I say to convince you to change your mind..Of me?

    chorus:
I'm gonna love you more than anyone
I'm gonna hold you closer than before
And when I kiss your soul, your body'll be free,
I'll be free for you anytime
I'm gonna love you more than anyone

    Look in my eyes
    What do you see
    Not just the color
    Look inside of me
Tell me your need and I will try
    I will try

    chorus

Free for you whenever you need
We'll be free together baby, free together baby

    chorus

Okay, so this one is a stretch and you really have to hear it to get it, but 'Rattlesnakes' always reminds me of Sara for some reason. It's off of Tori Amos's 'Strange Little Girl' so it's a cover but I don't know who did the original. And again, doesn't read as well as it plays.

    'Rattlesnakes'

Jodie wears a hat although it hasn't rained for six days
she says a girl needs a gun these days
hey on account of all the rattlesnakes
she looks like Eve Marie Saint in on the waterfront
she reads Simone de Beauvoir in her American circumstance
she's less than sure if her heart has come to stay in San Jose
and her neverborn child still haunts her
as she speeds down the freeway
as she tries her luck with the traffic police
out of boredom more than spite
she never finds no trouble, she tries too hard
    she's obvious despite herself
she looks like Eve Marie Saint in on the waterfront
she says all she needs is therapy yeah
all you need is, love is all you need
Jodie never sleeps 'cause there are always needles in the hay
she says that a girl needs a gun these days
hey on account of all the rattlesnakes
she looks like Eve Marie Saint in on the waterfront
as she reads Simone de Beauvoir in her American circumstance
her heart, heart's like crazy paving
upside down and back to front
she says ooh, it's so hard to love
when love was your great disappointment

    Those are interesting choices.

I'm sorry, I know ya'll are tired of me bringing out my two favorite songs over and over: Anything by the Calling and She will be Loved by Maroon 5.

I'd never heard 'Anything' until Cordy's video, but you're right...it's perfect! And I love Maroon Five.

Slight OT but I was watching VH1's 'Awesomely Bad Breakup Songs' yesterday (sue me, I'm lame remember!) but I forgot about that song 'Sara'. They completely trashed it with it's mixed metaphors and general cheesy-ness. :)

Just looking around at other Sara/fill-in-the-blank song threads. I have to agree. As much as I liked the song. I was a mere child back then. I had no music experience then. I have to agree with VH1. 'Sara' is/was a really hokey song. The video was even worse.

YAY! Go you SyLnn for starting this thread!

Okay as mentioned previously I could totally see Greg listening to "People That Died" by Jim Carroll Band.

It's thrashy new wave, and features a very headbangable beat of "these are the people that died, died."

It's quirky and edgy just like Greg. On another note, I think "Delicate" by Damian Rice is a perfect Sara/Greg song. And not just because I listened to it obsessively when I wrote "TTWH".

 TTHipFreak -- I know! I never thought it was bad until I caught that show and really listened to the words. *hangs head in shame* What was I thinking?

TTHipFreak -- Yes, I suddenly feel to old to be having children and definately unfit to impart any type of musical taste onto them! ;) Let's just not even go into boy bands of the late eighties please. Then the horrible truth will really come out about my lame taste in music!

badgirl -- I'll have to look them up. Sadly, I listen to so little music nowadays that isn't somehow directly related to Nickelodeon that I'm far behind the current scene...although I think I've heard that 'People that Died' song before.

I've said this before, but a lot of times when I write Sandle fics I listen to 'Jane' by the Barenaked Ladies. It's kind of them and kind of not. It's sweet and sad and kind of a song about longing. :)

Well the Jim (same guy who wrote the Basketball Diaries)Carroll Band is pretty rare and unheard of. I blame K for getting me to listen to many bands that are off the beaten path musically, and the sattelite radio doesn't help.

But as a Canadian I must heartily applaud/endorse the Barenaked Ladies!

But don't get me wrong, I'm no John Cusack, I love the cheesy lame songs too. I agree that Sara has to be one winceworthy track from the 80's.

Almost as bad as "Sometimes When We Touch" by Dan Hill. *gags* No ship deserves to be laden with that hideous chestnut.

Okay maybe a ship I might hate, like uhhh...Grissom/Greg. There that can be the GrGr song. *shudders* Now if you excuse me I need to go bleach my brain.

Yay for the new thread :p

Wonderful idea of starting this, there are so many songs out there. My favorite would have to be 'Crash and Burn' by Savage Garden

That one is a tad disturbing, but ppl apparently see something in it because they're writing fics....

Okay, back on topic now :D

badgirl -- I looked up the song after my last post and I have heard it...and now I know why, because I've seen 'The Basketball Diaries'. I was reading the lyrics thinking it not only sounds familiar but seems familiar, especially the part about his friend with cancer. Thanks for putting that together for me, it would have driven me nuts otherwise!

LOVE BNL! Sorry, I'm slightly obsessed with them.

Never understood Grissom/Greg myself, read a few fics to try and get it, but still it never quite took with me. I have a theory about why but care not to discuss it here. *grin*

I also like this song for Sandle too.
    "Pressing On"
    by RelientK
    I think we're going somewhere.
We're on to something good here.
Out of mind, out of state.
Trying to keep my head on straight.
    I think we're going somewhere.
We're on to something good here.
There's only one thing left to do.
Drop all I have and go with you.

    [Chorus:]
Somewhere back there I left my worries all behind.
My problems fell out of the back of my mind.
We're going and I'm never knowing (never knowing) where we're going.
To go back to where I was would just be wrong.
    I'm pressing on.
Pressing on, all my distress is going, going, gone. (pressing on, pressing on)
And I won't sit back, and take this anymore.
'Cause I'm done with that, I've got one foot out the door.
And to go back where I was would just be wrong
    I'm pressing on.

    I think we're going somewhere.
We're on to something good here.
Out of mind, out of state.
Trying to keep my head on straight.
    I think we're going somewhere.
We're on to something good here.

    Adversity, we get around it.
Searched for joy, in you I found it.

You look down on me, but you don't look down on me at all.
You smile and laugh, and I feel the love you have for me.
    I think we're going somewhere.
We're on to something good here, and we're gonna make it after all.

    ----

BTW, Griss/Greg? Just...no. I've read a couple of the fics too and it just doesn't work in my mind.

That's *actually* a ship? *blinks* I just pulled that out of thin air, I didn't think it was an actual ship.

Nick/Greg I can see but Grissom's always been a little short with Greg. Huh. Well waddayaknow.

Okay to continue our trip in the wayback machine here are two more 80's songs I think sum up the Greg/Sara dynamic.

Thomas Dolby "She Blinded Me With Science" An excerpt:
    "It's poetry in motion
She turned her tender eyes to me
    As deep as any ocean
    As sweet as any harmony
Mmm - but she blinded me with science
    "She blinded me with science!"
    And failed me in biology

When I'm dancing close to her
"Blinding me with science - science!"
    I can smell the chemicals
"Blinding me with science - science!"
    "Science!"
    "Science!"

That's right Greg she blinded *you* with science. And c'mon how can that not be a CSI type song anyway?

And Fine Young Cannibals' "She Drives Me Crazy" Another excerpt:

    "I can’t stop
    The way I feel
    Things you do
    Don’t seem real
Tell you what I got in mind
’cause we’re runnin’ out of time
Won’t you ever set me free?
    This waitin’ ’rounds killin’ me

    She drives me crazy
    Like no one else
    She drives me crazy
    And I can’t help myself

    I can’t get
    Any rest
    People say
    I’m obsessed
    Everything that’s serious lasts
But to me there’s no surprise
What I have, I knew was true
Things go wrong, they always do"

Wow...I'm really showing my age aren't I? Must find songs the kids today listen to...

    *shuffles off in my walker*
