I'm not sure if this the right place to post this question....

What is the difference between fan fiction and role playing?

Someone asked me, and I really had no idea how to explain it to her, because I really didn't have a clue what the difference was.
 
Im not sure but I thought that it had to do with writing your own storys(Fanfiction) and pretending to be the character (Role play) BUt I have noo idea :lol:
 
Usually in fics one person writes the whole story, unless it's a round robin, then everyone takes turns. In RP, each person takes one character or sometimes more and in the threads, someone starts and then players reply in character to move the story along.
