Nearly four years after the birth CSI: Miami, Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) is grateful for her role on the show.

The 37-year-old actress recently talked to Item Magazine about what it feels being a part of the popular franchise. "I am in the middle of a pop culture moment. I love it. I feel really fortunate," she said.

Procter also expressed her appreciation to CSI for getting young people more involved and interested in science and current events. "I used to worry about the way kids were not reading the newspaper or watching the news, but then I realized they will when they get older. I do."

But Procter also revealed television is no piece of cake. "Realistically, film is easier. TV is hard, hard to dig in and feel the creative energy because you are doing something new all the time. I love TV! When I was a kid we were not allowed to watch. But every week it is like doing a giant play – very fast energy, I like it."

This summer, Procter started White Lightening, an 80s cover band. The North Carolina native also filmed the comedy flick Big Momma's House 2. The actress keeps herself busy for personal reasons. "Because I am the youngest and smallest child, I have something to prove," she said. "If you have the energy to do something, you should do it. Heaven forbid if you don't do it, you would regret it. So I am tired, really tired."
